R188 7857 Posted September 23, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 23, 2011 Second Avenue Subway - 9/22/2011 Update On September 22, 2011, a tunnel boring machine (TBM) broke through rock just east of the Lexington Ave-63rd St. station, making the completion of tunneling for Phase 1 of the Second Avenue Subway.
