  1. So with the cpap if you use it for 30 days is it automatic that you'll be cleared or is their still a possibility you won't be cleared even with the cpap machine?

i believe you would be cleared but you have to keep using it because you go into the ta doctors for follow ups regarding the sleep apnea.
  2. Even though I am going in as a conductor I passed road test today. What a burden off my shoulders. I did very good and, since it was hot out the DMV instructor didn't make me do the whole pre-trip she just wanted to get it done and over lol.

  3. Good evening everyone,

Just a real quick question. About 2 weeks ago I went down to Livingston for Pre-employment. I got called in for medical the week after. The issue I had was that my mother had to go in for emergency surgery and she needed someone to take care of her for a few months. I emailed Mr's Chestnut and explained the situation and told her that at this time I was not able to make it medical that weekend and I would have put everything on hold until my mom got better which would be in a few months.

I was wondering, I know when the time comes I need to reinstate my name, was just wondering how long it takes for the MTA to report my name back to DCAS so I could reinstate my name. As of right now DCAS still says I am on the list and I am on an outstanding  certification. I know the system would tell me I am off the list and will have to reinstate my name. I am not ready yet to do this, but I just want to make sure that I have this option ready when the time comes to reinstate my name..

I hope this all makes sense

    Thanks for your tme

It all depends on when the mta sends your name back. It usually is a couple of months and, your name would be removed. Once that happens if you you can email dcas at certificationunit@dcas.nyc.gov to placed yourself back on the list immediately. At this time all you can do is call every sunday for the DCAS hotline to see if your name has been removed.

  4. That's exactly what they're talking about

I just ordered the one from amazon. So I'm good now lol. I don't want to be on anyone's bad side when I'm just starting.
  5. well i'm new to the forum, I was called on 3/16/17 to fill out the paperwork but I had a traffic violation pending and the court date was 3/31/17. I was told I had to get it resolved first. I then returned 4/4/17 where I took the drug test and was told I was gonna be called to come back 3-90days I was then emailed to come back 4/12/17. I came back completed all paperwork and my medical processing was done but a small delay with my testing when they seen that my blood pressure was a little high so they sent me in the back for a 20min rest, I noticed that 4 other applicants were doing the similar process, but they went to the front counter when I was waiting for the doctor to see me, I checked out and everything was ok. I then proceeded to the front counter and told them that the medical was complete. There were 3 other applicants were there waiting already, I noticed that two of the applicants had a blue folder and paperwork that was marked orientation on them. in my head i'm like yes i'm finally going to move onto the next step. I was called to the counter they checked my paperwork again the person behind the counter said the recruiters are already with someone in the meanwhile go and get your photo taken for the id. i finished that and came back then the recruiter called me, looked over my paperwork and said there are no vacancies for jobs, i my head i wanted blow up... MTA just knows how to prolong a process. he then gave me a # to call Mrs. Chestnut to tell her I would like to reinstate my name on the list. I sent the email to the certification unit, now i'm just waiting. My drug test already expired and I hope they call before my medical expires, should I also send another email because they sent me a answer that my name is still on the list we will keep your request on hand in case your name is removed. i'm reading the previous post other people are saying they are being called in for the pre employment process and another class for June 12 has been schedule. Whats going on, anybody have and input for me? thanks in advance

This situation is weird. Was your drug exam still good? If DCAS still has you on the list you would have to wait for the mta to take you off and then email to reinstate yourself.
  6. Going in with just a permit is not so bad. After you qualify day 7-10, the ones that have to take a road test, like I did, spent a few days training but superintendent were more relaxed and they just gave you more training time. I took the road test by zerega and it was a breeze, as long as you have pre-trip memorized. Best of luck to everyone.

from my understanding they also make you drive on the highway and you must call out everything you see. I was trying to look for the docs young had posted up but can't seem to find it.
  7. While in final processing, your interviewer will not only have a list of the upcoming class dates at Zerega, but will also work with you as well...just think positive and you should be fine. It's better to get the road test over with before you go into training, compared to after you qualify...trust me, and most of the other members in this forum/topic.

Your right. That was my whole plan. Get the CDL first. Hopefully they will work with me on Monday when I go in. I will say that once I got behind the wheel of a bus it wasn't as intimidating as I thought but hopefully they will let me go into the next class that would be perfect for my job as well because it wouldn't allow my to give a proper two weeks notice if I go in on June 12, which is right around the corner.
  8. I had a family emergency on Wednesday so I couldn't make my final processing date. Call Ms.chestnut and she told me to come in on Monday. I called my driving school and I can't move my road test to earlier. Hopefully maybe j could be placed on the following class after this if not I have no choice but to go in with just a permit.

  9. Welp. Today I had my medical. Pass everything but on hold for the silent killer. Blood pressure. So I went straight to my doc he gave a prescription for med to lower it, hopefully when I return wed if the June 12 class ain't filled I can get in. Oh. And am I the only one who the Asian dr asked to drop there pants and squat...lol. Cuz I heard some didn't have to do that.

one doctor made me do that. He wasn't Asian. Try to get back as fast as you can. You don't want to be removed from the list. I got placed on medical hold for protein in urine. I did my blood work and urine at the doctor the same day. Just waiting for results. MTA just wants the reports so I should be back on Friday to give it to them and get this over with.
  10. Like I said earlier in this topic, your medical examination is good for 3 months. Therefore, if your final processing date is within these 3 months, don't worry about it, you'll be fine. If it is not, then you might have to go back to MAC, and your cardiologist. Worse comes to worse, the Doctor will just give you another letter with an updated date and you'll be fine.

thanks. I was cleared on February 14th hopefully I won't have to again.
  11. I was placed on a medical hold for Conductor and went and had it cleared with a cardiologist. I ended up missing the class because my drug test expired and by the time it was all clear the class was filled. So i placed myself back on the list and began the whole process again. Now I am at the final processing and, I am worried that I would be placed on hold for the same thing again. I don't know if they still have on record that I cleared the EKG problem in february or would I have to go back to the cardiologist again?

  12. Do so!! Without mentioning any specific names, I got a little "annoyed" as far as how long the Queens office was taking to book my road test, compared to Brooklyn, which, IMHO, is on top of their game!! Anyways, so one day I was playing online with DMV's Road Test Scheduler, and I found some dates and times for Maspeth (the road test site). As soon as I saw something that fit my schedule, I called the school to ask if a vehicle and an instructor were available. It took a few back-and-forth tries, however in the long run we were able to figure something out.

Therefore, it doesn't hurt to try, especially if you're free during the week when your driving school is open...

The school that I went to is in long island. But I will call them tomorrow.

  13. No problem.

You know you can always get rid of that by doing to DMV and reading their "simple" eye chart, right?

Ouch! I hear ya...there's no way you can take the road test earlier and get it out of the way?

maybe I can call the school to see if it's possible.
  14. Nice! What phone number do they call you from?

Hopefully we get called soon I'm 312x. The wait is a killer but in the end is well worth it.

    it sure is.

it was Ms. Chestnut that called me. I believed someone posted the number here before.
