1. Finally got that letter I dreaded. I quote: "You were considered and not selected for appointment in accordance with Rule 4.7.1 (C), of the rules and regulations of the new York city personnel director." And that's a wrap folks. Good luck to the rest of you.

The same thing happened with me with the TO exam. I previously worked for MTA also. I wasn't stressing the letter at the time because I had other matters to tend to. Now my focus is on asking around and making some noise! IMO this tactic is more retaliatory than anything else. MTA expects you not to question or fight it. Don't let that stop you. Fight it!! From my understanding , that 3 N 1 rule is for promotional exams only. I'll keep you posted on my situation.

2. We'll see what happens as time evolves...having NYC Transit call 200 people a month is just an estimated guess. If they go through more people per month, like 250 or 300, then the list will move faster. With the list being close to 12,500 people, the list will stay active for at least a few years.

Keep in mind also that everyone will not be successful, since they will either fail the drug test, medical, the first part of the training in the classroom, the second part of training in the field, etc. Therefore, 200 to 300 people a month does not sound a lot like originally expected.

In general, when a list expires, there is no official announcement.

I feel what you're saying. Obviously we're in a good position being on this list. My understanding is that a lot of people down there were w8n for the new contract before retiring hopefully that'll now speed up the list.
3. So as of 10/27/14 (yesterday), this was posted at http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/3600.htm:

LIST ESTABLISHMENT / NOTICE OF RESULTS: (UPDATED)The list for Track Worker has been made public effectiveOctober 22, 2014. All candidates should receive their official Notice of Results in early November 2014. When a list is made public, results are released but the list will not be used for hiring purposes for an additional 60 days. Please refer to the additional information sheet included with your Notice of Results on what numbers to call to check on list status.

Therefore, it looks like they won't be calling anyone until late December/early January. For me, I have a list # of 280* (which means my # is from 2800 to 2809), therefore if they go through 200 people a month, I won't be called for 14 months (2800 divided by 200 equals 14). If they go through 250 people a month, I won't get called for at least 11 months (since 250 x 11 = 2750, which is closer than 3000 [250 x 12]).

I really hope your calculations are true because this is a game changer for me. Reason being is that I'm on the train operators list and should start this month. and if I can hold out a little longer, it's a hell of a lot better position in my opinion. List #168X
4. I'm on hold right now until I can get my cardiology report until I can get that hopefully tomorrow I should be good I'm in a panic right now cause I really want to get this October class I can't afford to wait another month. so for the time being I'm stuck in New York.

Stay positive. I was there today w8n to find out my situation . It's been one thing after another with me and this position since Feb. Being that I was a conductor in 97, I have to w8 for a departmental eval b4 I can be fingerprinted. At this point I'm good if I do or don't get this position. You hang in there Pelham.
5. Pelham25 my list #302x. I completed my medical with no findings that would disqualify me. I need to return ASAP with previous work-ups and lab test from my private doctor pretty much stating that i am fit to do the job required, Depending on how fast I can turn this around, I might make it to October's class.

SAME EXACT THING!! My Dr. couldn't do it today so I gotta go back tomorrow .
6. Hey Matt,

I went in this morning to finish my final processing and was up and out of there before 1000am.

My list # is in the 2700 range.

Yes, my 2nd DT was because the 1st DT expired.

Of course when they call you for final processing they tell you its a 10am appt but get there as soon as

they open because they start everything at around 7:30am. By 840am I got called for the paperwork

processing, then off for the picture for the ID and then the electronic fingerprinting. I was finished by

100am. I go for orientation in the October class.

Now the hard part will be giving my current job the 2-week notice. I like my current job but I couldn't

pass on a career with the MTA.

Thank you for that gem. I go in tomorrow and plan on being ticket #100. I might go st8 from final processing and give my job my 2 week notice !
