  1. Get the signal flash cards and study them every single day, 7 days a week. I did it every day for an hour and I had no problem passing, this isn't something you can hold off and "cram" You Must know this without effort.

With that said, how would one go about getting said flash cards ?
  2. @trainman, you get quizzes regularly in class, a "practice" test around the time of your yard practical, but yes the one & only test that counts, you MUST get 100% or you're gone. It's now 25 questions, 15 multiple choice, 10 write ins. You get any multiple choice wrong, you're done. On the write ins, you might get called in if your answer seems right, but needs clarification.

Did you take the signal test yet and did everybody in your class pass ?
  3. Question: where is school car held? Is it at ps 248? Or does it vary, what is school car time ( length) for a and b div?

( This is from an earlier post. SHOUTOUT TO BROWNHORNET! )Depending on the divisions. A division is 6 months. B division is 9 months. Reason being, the B division has more equipment (ie R32, R42,R46,R68,R68A,R143,R160) Meanwhile back in the A division the only equipment we have to learn are (R62,R62A,R142,R142A,R188) See the difference? if you read through the past post you can most likely find anything you're looking for.
  4. @Allday, No Kidding lol. While on a high note, Does anyone know of any Fairly cheap places to live that is safe and clean. I haven't been in new york in about 5 Years when i moved to florida so I really don't know what's what any more. When I went for the D/T the cabs were Green. Threw me for a loop. Thank you in advance.

I deliver mail in a pretty decent neighborhood in Queens Village so I'll keep an eye out. Fairly cheap in NYC is about $1K.
  5. I just wanted to check since I don't have any books yet and I'm not in school car Yet. just wanted to do some studying so I can get my mind off of waiting for the call.

I understand how you feel but IMHO , unless one of these vets here say otherwise , I'd stay away from those sites. Imagine having to deprogram all that info if the book in school car reads otherwise.
  6. @ceerock congrats. Dress code is as followed. (Until you get your uniforms) light blue button down dress shirt, I got 2 at walmart for $24. Dark blue pants....I mean pants, not dress jeans. Shoes or boots, black. You get your ID card which is also your employee metrocard. Yes, you ride for free.[/

@westendman thanks, sorry spell check I ment LIRR. Do we get to ride rail road for free?

On a whole the LIRR doesn't accept MTA passes but there are times few and far in between where conductors will honor MTA passes. For the most part do what W.E.M. said.
  7. 1 and 2. Either one

    4. You will get measured for your uniforms on either the second or third day.  They will be delivered via UPS at some point (I'm not sure how long).

    5. Next week is a pay week, so you will get your first pay check on your third Thursday.

The Metrocard is only for you and nobody else in your household.

And make sure YOU and only YOU use that metro card . I know firsthand of a person @ work while someone was using their metro card. ( which BTW is your I.D. )
  8. From my experience going through Bus Operator training and not making it past training, I think the more important question is how to pass the employment processing at 180 Livingston Street, which will include a physical** and how to pass the training session. If I am correct, isn't this divided into 2 parts? The first part is in a classroom at PS 248 in Brooklyn and the second part is on the road training, which involves something similar to the video below?

**Speaking of the physical, when I went for the physical last time on December 31st, 2013, I barely passed the vision portion of it. I don't normally wear glasses, however once in a while I do for long distance vision, since I'm on the computer so much. If I tell MAC (Medical Assessment Center) that I wear glasses, do I need a letter from my eye doctor, or will I be able to get by without one? The reason why I am asking is because I have been informed that if I have any medical condition, I should have a note from a doctor stating that it is under control, as I learned this the hard way when the TA physician first diagnosed me with muscle spasm, which is now on and off. However, so many people, including TA employees, wear glasses, therefore I'm wondering what should I do about this?

    Thanks in advance...

IMO I think the glasses situation with MTA be black or white. Meaning either you do or you don't . They might just put more emphasis on it considering there's a good chance you'll be working in dark tunnels. Or outside at night. The vibe that I'm getting from you is you don't want to wear them if you don't have to but for @ least 8 hours on the job you may be forced to wear them.
  9. ???????????????......

Are u saying that your in school car now?

sorry about that Postal 1. Let me clear that up. I'm a letter carrying now and I'm waiting for train operator. I just wanted to know what Station you worked at when you were with the post office?
