  1. There is no NYC residency requirements for MTA NYCT Bus Operators. As noted on the "Bus Operator Notice of Examination Exam # 4600: Residency: New York City residency is not required for this positions." This is a direct quote from the exam announcement that I have in my possession. Be forewarned that the MTA NYCT is a system that operates on a very stringent time table. You must be on time for work...All the time every day. If you live far from the operational area of the NYC transit system and rely on other modes of transportation and you can't arrive in time to prepare for your pull out your job and your career will be in jeopardy.
  2. UPDATE: My list number is 4.On Friday 11 March, 2016 I received a letter from The City of New York, Department of Citywide Administrative Services, Human Capital/Investigations Unit, 1 Centre Street, New York, NY 10007. The letter reads as follows: Please report to the 21st floor, room 2180 at the date and time shown above (4/25/2016 09:30). This letter was sent to me in order to verify my Veteran status with me supplying the appropriate documentation. then... On Saturday March 12, 2016 I received a letter from MTA New York City Transit, 180 Livingston Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201. The letter reads as follows: MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) is considering you for a permanent position as a Bus Operator at the salary specified above (22.6992 / Hour) and invites you to our facility at 180 Livingston Street, 5th floor, Brooklyn, NY on March 15, 2016 at 07:30 AM to begin the pre-employment process. There appears to be a great deal of unknowns about the hiring process here with a huge amount of well meaning albeit fragmented answers.I am sharing this with the community with the hope that this detailed information may add some clarity to the timeline for those like myself who are prospects for the MTA NYCT Bus Operator position. I intend to provide future updates as I progress through the hiring process. Good Luck to All!
  3. In my humble opinion she is dead wrong and was just blowing you off since the MTA does not and cannot predict, at this time, when they will begin calling from the list established for exam 4600. My educated guess, and I did say GUESS, is that sometime between April and May 2016 the MTA will begin to address the list for exam 4600. The MTA has a dedicated training staff. When I say dedicated what I'm saying is that the training department only does training, for the sake of this discussion, and that they (training staff) must keep the process moving. There will not be an extended lull in the process because that would back up the entire system. With retirees retiring, bus operators resigning, going out on disability, dieing, quitting, suspended, getting fired and the like. It wouldn't make any logical sense to postpone hiring from list 4600 until December 2016. Again this is only my opinion.
  4. Thank you Teegrid67 for the repost. Just to clarify...The letter I received was the Notice of Results letter for exam 4600. Considering that I will be amongst the first to receive the call I will post updates as they become available to keep the community up to date and to broadcast the notifications that my fellow prospects can expect to receive from MTA NYCT. Hopefully this will alleviate some of the angst that is sure to develope during the hiring process for those of us that are on the list for exam 4600. Again Good Luck to all!
  5. Congratulations to all my fellow would be MTA NYC Bus Operators. I received my letter on 13 Jan 2016 it was dated 7 Jan 2016. My list number is 4. Good luck to all!!!
