I said samething Believe it or not from the stories they tell you it happens. Ironically a story that was told to us, was about a conductor who was really sharp in school car and said the same thing in class and long behold he did what he shouldn’t of done because of long story short pressure, a short stop which means part of the train is out the station that’s another no no if you open. Haven’t gotten out there yet but I’m making sure if that conductor board is missing or it’s not a perfect stop them doors ain’t opening 😂

Another thing, when you say the train did a short stop, how often do that happen? If you notice that, do you report it to the tower or just ask your partner to move up some more? Sounds like everything we doing as conductors is to ensure safety for the public as well as our jobs but not reacting without thinking calmly and clearly.

Holy crap God been on my side cause I been using my phone in the hallway now I know cause we still gotta go back there for midterm and stuff. Plus TSS just told us about someone getting terminated for their phone. Phone and opening doors on the wrong side with no platform is just game over on the spot.

Something that have been bothering me for the longest and I still don’t understand still, how can someone open the doors on the wrong side? Are they not taught to look for that board and point to it? Can someone please explain that one to me, I mean I don’t mean to sound like a know it all, but that’s common sense. You don’t see the board, you don’t open the doors.

Thanks man right now we're posting so i feel more confident. Just remember to study your butt off I wanna see each and everyone of you down in the tubes!!!

I do too but honestly, I’m hoping I get into the B division. No offense to you or anyone else bro but I don’t want to see you in the tubes, because that would mean I’m in the A division, lol.

Be on the lookout for learning a ton of information all at once it's going to overwhelming in school car everything was getting stuffed into me that I felt overwhelmed and that I'd never be able to do a proper door operation or terminal operation. Now I can and feel confident for the final and practical.

I know you will do awesome on both the practical and final. We all will be routing for you bro.

whatever you do choose just make sure it got a lot of room lol

How’s school car been treating you bro? Besides the usual, like studying our butts off and paying close attention, what should we incoming freshman be on the look out for?

Good just a lot of cramming of information, and its true what they said the the role of a conductor isn't just about opening and closing doors.

I’m all honesty, growing up, I assumed the same thing but figured out that wasn’t the case. I’m looking forward to this new chapter of my life, won’t let nothing but the fear of GOD stop me.

You get two more thick books and then a ton of other papers and then all your equipment and make sure you get a notebook and loose leaf papers just in case they ask for you guys to do homework on a separate paper, and index cards and a highlighter if you so wish to make studying easier.

How’s school been treating you bro?

My list number is 2,0XX , i see people in mid 1800s getting called for PE. Should i expect PE before end of year?

I would not be surprised if you did, but it all depends on the vacancies that need to be filled. Also, requests are done in quarters so we will need to wait for the next quarter on what the hiring needs will be. That usually is a way to tell if you will get that golden ticket for your P/E. Please, take what I say with a grain of salt, just posting what I read on this forum. If someone with better knowledge can chime in, that would be greatly appreciated.

I’m trying to lol these damn passengers make it hard holding the doors.

Thank you and yeah 33 left. With that 25/55 thing under tier 6. I got hired when I was 21.  Plan on moving up as far as I can there’s a promo to atd test coming out this year and I’m (impatiently) waiting for the next promotion to train operator exam.

I got you. One can only apply to take promo exams only after they completed their one year probation period?

The senior people down here always told me that time flies in transit and they sure are right. I got off probation yesterday and it feels crazy. I remember my first time in Moshulu yard getting track qualified like it was yesterday holy crap.

1 year down a 33 more years to go.

Congrats bro !!! But 33 years left? I’m lost, lol

I guess he meant getting hired not officially till after training lol

Lol, spot on. My fault I wasn’t clear enough. Oddly enough, like others said lately, it was really quiet down at 180. In total, I believe I saw about 5 or 6 people going for their medical for conductor only while others were there for other positions. Sorry if that’s not being to specific. Not counting MTA employees already, I would like to say maybe 20 bodies in total, but that’s a rough estimate. Again, 180 was quiet up until I left around 2pm today. Even from reading the stories that say you will be in medical / final processing all day, they were moving like an assembly line in the MAC. I was really shocked how quick things were going.
