Yes bro I go in friday!!! 😀 How was it today? Hows was the lung test?

I got put on medical hold because of that stupid lung test . She had me do it 4 times and twice she kept saying stop I'm not blowing right etc , all the while never said that they record them . So needless to say I got a 62% and they say 75% reading is passing . I have to go get one from my doctor and a chest x-ray to show there's no damage . Sucks , I think she didn't let me do the spirometer test the right way . I asked the doctor to retake it and he declined saying I did it 4 times , and I'm like she stopped me twice etc . OH well , I got a few days to try and get a test done and submit my doctors report clearing me to do the job with no restrictions . SUCKS !

  2. I got put on medical hold !  That stupid spirometer did me in . She did it 4 times , but twice she made me stop in the middle and kept saying I'm blowing wrong . SMH  The doctor tells me to go get a lung  x-ray and get another spirometer from my doctor . SUCKS ! I believe I can pass , it said I got a 62% and minimum is 75% . I told the doctor let me do it again and he declined . Oh well . . .

No, not longer to get hired. After drug test, if you pass, you will come in for medical and you will be there all day, just an assortment of tests (EKG,lung capacity, eye, etc). After you pass all the medical, you will sit down with someone and they will do your paperwork and setup your orientation. You will probably report to 53rd street and will be there for about two weeks. Its a class to get you somewhat accustomed to what’s going on. You will also be going to other places like Coney Island Yard and PS 248. Track Safety and Fire Safety and Prevention. You’re 3rd week, you will usually report to another location. Since I’m in Power, I reported to Atlantic Avenue Cable Section. From here, my class was assigned where they were going and what shift. As far as being backed up, I still have to take Asbestos,Respirator,Confined Space, and Flagging before I can go into the field. Flagging is a 9 day class and the others vary between 2-5 days. I’m on Brooklyn days and everybodys cool and the way things operate here is pretty smooth.

Yo G , how many people are in the initial class ? After they told you what section you are in ( Signals or Power ) , did you have a choice of what division you are working in ? ( as in elevator/escalator , telephone , sewage , etc )

  4. Hope Everybody Filled Out Their Big Booklet  , Went To DMV and Obtained An Abstract ( In Case You Need To Explain Them Tickets ) , Got All Your Documents and I.D.'s , YOUR BLUE INK PENS , #2 Pencils , Black Ink Pens , Court Documents If You Were Ever Arrested or Issued A Summons ( Not sure if you need it , I got a ticket for drinking a beer couple years ago ) . Hope To See Everyone Bright And Early Wednesday Morning .✌️

Transit is hiring a lot of helpers. I’ve been in for a month. If you end up in Power opposed to Signals, you’ll either be in Brooklyn or Bronx. My paper said Signals but my class went to Power. The day or night shift is really up to the Gen. Superintendent. They’ll ask you preference but its not a guarantee. You won’t be going out in the field for several months because of the backup with training classes. If you are hired from a resume, you are a provisional (temporary) employee until you take the Transit Electrical Helper test given by the MTA and that list is established. Basically it means you are on probation until they establish your list. Permanent positions (people who took test and were called) have a one year probationary period. Any other questions you guys have, I’ll see if I can answer.

I seen they were trying to hire Power Cable Maintainers ( Provisional ) . Do you know if they called anyone for that title ? I applied for that position as well as Electrical Helper/Signals , but Power pays more money to start and they only called me for Elec. Helper . I'll take what I can get just to get in .

Guys don't worry the process for me dident take long

Hey Moussaberte , Have you started school yet ? If so , how long is the school and where are the classes located ? Did you or anyone else get drafted for Signal Maintainer Trainee ? Do they ask or allow you guys to pick which division ( Power , Telephone, Elevator & Escalator , etc ) you will be assigned to ? Any info would be greatly appreciated ,Thanks .

  7. I would think they are going to call us in for a medical and final processing very soon . The urinalysis is only good for 30 days. Doesn't make sense to have to give us another test seeing as that would cost more money . So it would be safe to assume within 30 days we should be finished with the initial hiring process . I also would like to know how many weeks vacation ( not that I want a vacation so soon , lol ) do we get ? I would imagine 2 weeks a year until we reach 5 years , I would like to know if we get 1 week if we are hired before the 6 month mark .

  8. THE TEST

Your score will be determined by a competitive education and experience test. You will receive a score of 70 points for meeting the minimum experience and education requirements listed in the “How to Qualify” section above.

After you meet the minimum experience and education requirements listed in the “How to Qualify” section above, you will receive additional credit for additional years of experience beyond the minimum required experience, up to a maximum of 100 points, on the following basis:

10 points (for a total score of 80) for at least one but less than two years of additional full-time satisfactory experience as a helper in the electrical, electronic, or electromechanical fields in the maintenance, repair, testing, construction or installation of electrical equipment; or

20 points (for total score of 90) for at least two but less than three years of additional full-time satisfactory experience as a helper in the electrical, electronic, or electro-mechanical fields in the maintenance, repair, testing, construction or installation of electrical equipment; or

30 points (for a total score of 100) for three or more years of additional full-time satisfactory experience as a helper in the electrical, electronic, or electro-mechanical fields in the maintenance, repair, testing, construction or installation of electrical equipment.
