Hey guys I'm new to the forum, does this freeze affect the LIRR because I interviewed for car repairman on 2/7/19 and haven't heard back at all. Also does anyone know when the next Car Repairman class is? Thanks

Mnrr and lirr are two separate commuter rails. One may not effect the other. There was a hiring freeze for non essential employees. Im not sure what car repairman is classified as, you can watch the mta board on youtube and they often bring up hiring and freezes mind you the videos are usually 2 hours long.

So I called the number and spoke to someone who worked for the MTA. He said that Metro North doesnt tell people if they're still being considered for employment or the status of their application. They also wont inform anyone if they decide not to hire.

He said the process takes awhile so who knows. I've heard of people waiting 6 months to a year and heard some people get hired right after interviews.

Isnt that nice of them lol

Hello everyone who has interviewed with Metro North. Has anyone heard back or begun the physical abilities / drug test? If so how long after you interviewed did it take to hear back?

    Thanks!

I just completed background investigation last week, waiting for an interview. Took track worker exam on 3/8

Just finished the interview I think it went pretty good, answered all the questions one of the men even said "that's a good answer" to one of the questions I answered. Now we just wait and see what happens.

Did they say when the classes are going in for track?

I've been reading all about the new Hudson Yards building development, and how they cantilevered over the LIRR yard underneath it. I wonder what it's like to have to make moves underneath that. I image it's a whole lot hotter than it used to be with all the exhaust trapped inside, unless they have a good system for dissipating it.

Just wait till they completey cover it, they left space in between the tracks of west side for possible cement peers to be built for building above and that exactly whats going to happen.

Congratulations! That's great no other testing then. As long as your bg check goes good, interview, you will be ok. I interviewed in mid february and haven't heard anything yet so you may take awhile to hear something possibly. Thinklikeamango is still interviewing for the position as well. I feel we will be hired in as a group like alot of the others say usually happens on the forum.

Thank you, congrats to you as well. Where are you located ? I heard 30 track workers will be hired this year and the class is april but ia un reliable source.

If you applied prior to november of last year or december AKA us, I believe we are safe from the freeze since they needed to hire us in the first place. If you noticed, the careers site has been prety dry. I think april and may are the next classes of people regardless of the craft. I also read september for some as well. Btw congrats on passing the test. Next step is your BG check, then interview. You might need another hands on test before the interview since it is a more skilled position. I had a hands on test after my written one for carman.

Im currently doing the background check and submitting tax documents etx... i applied in april of 2018. I was told the next step is a formal interview, physical ability, medical, drug test.

Didnt hear anything about any more testing other than the 90 day probation period.

When I went in for the medical on Friday (1/25/19) for the trackworker position they said the freeze is for all non essential jobs , thats also what the board meeting said, it’s on YouTube

it says it somewhere in the video I can’t remeber where though

When did you take the exam? I just took one on 3/8/19 and started the background process two business days later.

  9. Took a track worker exam on 3/8/19 for metro north they said results were 2-4 weeks away. I got a email saying I passed and to fill out the background information 2 business days later.

Im guessing they are off a freeze? I heard track workers go in april.

  10. Anyone have information on MNRR track worker position? Took the entry test today.

    What is the pension program?

    What are the working hours/days?

Is there such thing of having both MNRR and RailRoad retirement pensions?

If im based on long island will my assignments be grand central and then commute from there or will i have to report to a station on one of MNRR lines to begin my day

When was the last contract? Do you guys forsee a salary hike in the future? Base pay is 20.66 i know that is considerably low compared to LIRR

Any information is useful thanks in advance
