Question ! This Tuesday after Labor Day I’m heading down to Brooklyn. I know it’s an all day process, and I have all of my paperwork ready, but what should I expect ??

Not much just gotta hand in your paperwork they look over it and ask you to correct anything that is needed , after that’s complete you go to another room and wait to be called for the drug test and your done for the day

From 1200-2159, you can report at any time in that range if you are put in the PM tour. On your first day of the week, you may report at 1207 at Far Rockaway on the A. On your second day, they may have you report at 1442 at Bedford Park on the D. On your third day, they can have you report at 1735 at Jamaica Center on the E. On your fourth day, they can have you report at 1900 at Metropolitan for a yard job. And on your fifth day, they may have you report at 2000 at Coney Island Yard for a test train.

Got it , thanks a lot for all the information and taking the time very helpful and much appreciated 👍

Remember, the NYC Subway is a 24/7 operation spanning the four boroughs. With your schoolcar instructors, you will be going to all the yards, terminals, and other key locations (such as express stops) in the subway system of your chosen division. Usually it's 7AM-3PM, but there was apparently a class that had to do 3PM-11PM due to all the classes running around. A division reports mainly at the terminals/yards in the Bronx, but you can be sent to the other boroughs, and consists of the number lines. B division reports pretty much everywhere else consisting of the letter lines. So look at a subway map and choose which one is easier to report from your home, because chances are, you're going to want to save as much time commuting as you can.

In the latter half of your training, you will post in the yards/terminals with a train operator guiding you. After that, you will operate by yourself in the yards/terminals. Last, you will be road posting with a train operator operating in passenger service on all the lines. You will be subjected to work in the AM (0400-1159), PM (1200-2159), and MID (2200-0359) tour on a weekly basis. You will report at various times and locations especially when you're road posting. You may report at 0600 at 207 Yard and then the next day report at 0730 at Coney Island Yard.

After you graduate, the crew assignment section may or may not adhere to your preference sheet and can put you in any tour and RDO that they need you in.

    Pm are 10hr tours?

Short answer, no. For the first week or so, you'll be at PS 248. After you pick your division (if they let you choose) and split up into smaller classes, you will receive a schedule that will detail what you will be doing with your schoolcar instructors. Later on in training you'll be working all three tours.

What are the three tours ? All at ps248 ?

    Non-existent. :-)

With that said, budget at *minimum* 30-45 minutes before your report time at the school to look for parking. I generally recommend using transit if it's a 7 AM start because those with 6 AM reporting times have taken most of the spots. They will nag you if you're late on that first day, so please arrive *early* for schoolcar.

Thank you , hoping I can make driving work cause it saves me an hr of traveling.

I got a 6am reporting time on first day , does that mean that will be my permanent schedule ?

Damn it’s probably the dwi I’m sure with further review they’ll call you in. Mta definitely hires people who have a record including felonies…matter fact most city jobs do. Don’t stress to much.

Thanks , Hopefully enough time has passed 🤞

That’s really weird after you take your medical papers to them they set you up to be sworn in. Is there anything you think in your pre- employment package that could possibly hold you back?

Dwai from 3 years ago and a misdemeanor from 15 years ago , I brought in disposition for everything

I just told them I can't see anything without them and I did the rest of the test with my corrective lenses.

Ohhh ok , my problem is I have a lazy eye and even with my lenses I still won’t be able to see so good out of that eye

20/20 isn't required, just bring any corrective lenses that you use in your day to day life during the test. They'll just put on your ID that you require glasses; I am -8.00 with astigmatism and got the job lol. (Blind as a bat)

Did you have trouble on the depth perception part ?

  11. Has anybody ever shown up to Livingston before their pre employment and been able to go through the process that day ? Or even allowed upstairs to speak with somebody

trying to see if I can reschedule for an earlier date like tomorrow or Wednesday

Can anyone please help me understand why I’m getting an email to do Pre-Employment again? I did pre- employment back in April and am being sent back to do it again. I know they say the results only last 90 days (so maybe that’s why) but my 90 days aren’t up yet until the 19th of this month. I just don’t want to be stuck waiting again because that’s not fair.

I guess they want to extend it another 90 days which I’d say is a good sign
