Hey everybody name Is Jay I’m New to the forums. I’ve been reading the comments on here every once in a while trying to keep updated. My mother retired from conductor after 22 years. Father retired as well from MTA as a Supervisor In Station after 20+ yrs.

I pretty much scored a 87.50 list # around 19k. They both told me actually I’m fine and they’ll call me. I am aware that seeing a lot of the vets retiring doesn’t play a big factor into being called sooner. Does anybody have any idea what  list number the agency is up to? Thank you God bless

I’m currently in school car that started 6/10 & I’m number 150X.... so they’re currently hiring in the 1500’s

Question guys do you get your MTA ID at orientation or after the medical. I’m going to be so pissed if you took photos and got it the same day which means I gotta go back

Lol! You get it on your first day & can begin using it that same day. Word of advice from the TSS: do NOT put the ID/pass in the machine on the bus, cuz ur screwed if the machine swallows it or it gets stuck. Good luck to you & congratulations!

There’s no set timeframe. I’ve met people who were able to pick jobs while they were still on probation, for me I’ve been out for 11 months now and I’m still xx. I *might* be able to pick later this year depending on how many people retire/promote/quit, etc...

@NewbieCR @Schecter look on the bright side, atleast you’ll get to see me! :D

    Yay!!!

Isnt tomorrow just the orientation for us and then Tuesday is when the actual classes start? I'm also nervous/excited for tomorrow and Tuesday. And do we wear the boots that we ordered tomorrow or do we have the wear the boots on Tuesday?

My boots are scheduled to arrive tomorrow, but I won’t be home cuz I’ll be at orientation, so idk how this is gonna work

I’m up at 180 Livingston st right now, arriving at 6:30 is a must. I thought it was a dress code? I see people in sweats.....

It’s supposed to be. Don’t stress it, long as you followed the rules, you’re good! Good luck today! You there for medical?

On the green paper, it says boots required for Tuesday. So I think you’ll be fine. Additionally, I’m sure you’re not the only person that was sworn in less than a week before the class date and didn’t have their boots the first day. I can’t imagine it’ll be a big deal.

Thanks! I was able to log in & order today.

What time did you arrive? I go in on Friday for processing, I'm trying to beat the crowd.

I got there at 7... shoulda got there at 6:30. However, most people were there for the beginning of the hiring process. Medical was crowded, but it was mostly people who are already employees

Really $87 is going to make people not take a job they truly want??!! I highly doubt it. I think it has more to do with the fact that people just have gotten other opportunities in other places of employment or just don't feel like working for MTA.

No not as far as taking the job. Prime example, I got the email after 4pm to report first thing Wednesday. Some people may not have the means to pay that suddenly. Back in the day it used to be taken out of your first or second check. Just saying for some people it may be a hold up.
