They are slowing down. Only up to 1067 today, thats  only 24 spots higher than Monday’s Med count. And July class almost full. Idk what’s going on.

Thats alright, we will be first called for August class, its only a month. Is there a confirmation for August class? because when i went for PE they said so far theres going to be a june and july class.

I don't think we are looking at the same column. I am looking at the No. Vacancies column. Last year was 600, this year is 225, I could be wrong, might be the hiring goal amount for this year.

How big was May's class? Ive read earlier in the forum that May's class was small. If this is true, possibly August would be the last class of the year, because they almost made the 225 goal.

I don't think that is correct. i checked my name from 10/23 and made its way down.

1st request, 10/19 was 1500 requested (provisional replacement),

    2nd request 3/14 was 500,

    3rd request 3/20 was 600,

    4th current 5/2 is 1000.

I believe the request is for the classes offered.so to fill 1000 they called 1351 to fill the classes. please correct me if im wrong, but that is how im making out with it.

I went to the website above and the vacancies number is decreasing, I think they almost hit their hiring goal. It started at 600, at the #1 list number, and now its down to 225 since my last PE which was in the beginning of this month. I'm not sure if i'm misinterpreting that, any1 here to verify?

If that is what they are going by then I think the rumors may be true, which was that the August class might be the last big class and probably the last class to make up for the retirement numbers and filled the shortage. Don't quote me on this as i am not 100% sure.

If there are sixty spots per class, it sounds like I will be called in for September if they schedule it. This would actually be better for me to smooth out my transition from my current job.

I hope the reorganization that Cuomo managed to pass doesn't affect things anytime soon though.

I don't think Cuomo plan would obstruct union workers, its rather directed to management, hopefully.

Oh and the July class size is 65, not 60. I think they will reach mid 1100s for July class. I think august class they would barely scratch 1300s. Does any1 have the exact date and class size for the august class? And is there going to be classes after august?

Update: They're up to 1043 for medicals, and there are about 25 spots left in the July class as of a few mins ago.

Up to only 1043? Only bout 20 people last week? The week before was from 970s-1020s, which is about 50 people. I don't know. I thought they would be over 1050s.

Thanks. If your take on this is correct, I'll have to change my travel plans. I would have sworn they wouldn't reach the 11**'s until August. It sounds like they'd have to go through 150 people to get there by July. Are you saying that many people get called and don't take the job. I wonder why?

I would start preparing now, get ur paperwork together and what not. the queue is move fast af. they went from 850s for the May class to high 1000s or low 1100s probably by tomorrow for the July class. I might get called in 2-3 weeks for medical.

Listen while I was there yesterday , I saw the list they were checking names off of . And no lie there wasn't more than like 12 people in it and when I tell you that maybe 5 of those were there for bus operator alone and another 4 were there for another title for medical too . They are not calling more than 4 people a day trust me cause I would have seen more for train op. Plus think about this from the time mr harryb went and then me there were days in between and our list numbers are not that crazy apart . The July class is not nearly half way full . Trust and believe that.  And people get put on hold for whatever bs. Yo I was about to be put on hold for missing my social security card 😒 and in the end I didn't need it cause I work here 😑😑😑. The July class will touch the 1200s.

hahahaha, good luck bro, hopefully i get into the july class with the rest of u dudes

Just because they didn’t post here doesn’t mean they didn’t get emails. Remember, most people who took this exam and are on the list probably don’t even know about this forum.

yea ur probably right. thats a good thing LMAO, ppl wont be prepared and flunk then the queue can move even faster to reach our list numbers. not trying to be and a-hole, but i need this job, real bad.

What's your list number? I'm thinking that July class might reach into the high 1200s.  While I was there today 2 people were put on medical hold . You know that thats the factor in how high they call. How many people they call in . The July class,  I dont think it's even half way full yet . I'm sure many slots are open still . It's very early in June still .

my list number is in 11xx

Your best bet is to do it now if u think u will be called for medical soon. If u see a sleep specialist they will tell u your options. I did the take home kit because it was easier, but it was very uncomfortable and I woke up a lot due to the discomfort. I still don't know if that threw my readings off. I might end up having to spend the night at a sleep lab, I will find out Wednesday.

Hey. How do you use this sleep study device? Been having trouble with it. Does my sleep have to be straight sleep? My little bro woke me up when I was sleeping with the device. If I turn it off then turn it on wi

B seems to be the popular pick. I wonder if it's because most guys come from Brooklyn or if it's just the better division. Being from the bronx Im hoping to get A but my boy who is in the B keeps telling me it's the better division for a bunch of different reasons

Nice, Im from the Bronx too, Ill be picking A also.

My neck is 17.5, so that alone got me placed on hold. My bmi is also over 30 but the sleep survey they gave us says 35 bmi and/or over 17 inches. So even if your neck is lower than 17, if your bmi is over 35 u will still be placed on medical hold. Obesity only gets you placed on hold as it relates to sleep apnea. If u don't have apnea u won't be placed on hold and even if you do get placed on hold, all u have to do is see a sleep specialist.

The mta doc told me that if I am determined to have apnea, I have to use the cpap machine they give u for apnea for 80 percent at least of 30 days. So u can have apnea, u just have to comply with the doctors orders. If u don't have apnea, even better. But obesity alone won't cost u the job, don't worry.

Even if I didn't get placed on hold for apnea tho, I would still have to get the surgical report for the back surgery I had. I went to the hospital and they said they would send it to me within the week, so I should be able to clear both of my holds by the end of June.

So should i see a specialist now? I dont want to go into the medical just to be placed on hold. What are my options? Should I do a sleep study? Or is there other/quicker examination for sleep apnea?

I don't mind the questions, I'm glad to be of help.

I've only done phase 1 so far. They gave me a take home test which was something I wore on my head with sensors and a small pair of breathing tubes into my nose. I took it back to them and they just called me yesterday to schedule a follow up with the pulmonologist on Wednesday. I guess I find out Wednesday whether phase 2, which requires sleeping over, is necessary or not. It depends on how many awakenings per hour were detected in phase 1.

Thanks! If its not too personal, what is your weight/BMI and neck circumference? What was the root cause of your medical hold? Was is because of the risks of sleep apnea or the surgery? Did the doctor at MTA say anything about sleep apnea or you just happened to mention about you doing a sleep study?

I have no medical conditions, my neck circumference is 16.5in and I weigh about 300lbs, so BMI is about 45, so I am considered obese, but I am a bit built/stocky, I do a lot of weight training. I don't snore or have any sleeping disorders. I sleep fine. I need this job and I'm afraid that I will be placed on medical hold for my weight. I've seen a lot of comments on holds for high blood pressure, diabetes, surgeries, etc, but nothing about obesity. Has anyone been on medical hold for just being obese?

Pretty quickly.. Google them and you will find their website. U can schedule right on it or call. Google "14th street medical"

Cool. One more question, sorry for the barrage of questions, how long is the sleep study?

  16. On 6/6/2019 at 5:29 PM, acabral136 said:

There's a clinic on 14th street called 14th street medical. They do all types of stuff including sleep study and yes they take insurance. Idk if all of them but Google them and you can find their website

How soon were you able to schedule?

Guys a bit of advice and something I want to clear up.

I was told by someone on this board once that when I get put on medical hold, I will need to have my doctors fill out mta documentation to be taken off hold.

That's BS. All they gave me is a letter from the mta doc requesting certain letters from my docs. So that means if u know u have a certain condition that can put u on hold, JUMP ON IT RIGHT NOW!

Don't wait for the day of medical. You can even have those documents with you that day and never be put on medical at all if they satisfy the doctor. When I mentioned to the mta doc yesterday that I already started my sleep study, she said "oh great do u have the report with you already?" which means to me that it would have been acceptable right then.

So if u have diabetes, sleep apnea, recent surgical procedure, etc, get those documents before u even show up. I'm sure there might still be certain things u still need, but if your doctor is already aware, he/she may be able to help u out the same day and fax something over.

    Be proactive not reactive!

Hey. Where did you do your sleep study. I tried contacting my hospital but they don't do it. Also does the place you went to is covered by health insurance?

Yeah stay healthy because the medical part is tough a lot of people get put on hold for that, I recently started riding bike an hour a day and my medical and final processing is tomorrow... I hope my neck isnt too fat for them lmao

Hey Schecter, whats your list number? It seems you passed the medical. I am a big dude too, and I am very worried they might put me on med hold. Whats your weight and neck size for comparison. I need peace of mind LOL.

  19. 26 minutes ago, Schecter said:

I think they check for either or my BMI wasnt 25 either but my neck was 16.5 and the doctor cleared me yesterday, and was sworn in yesterday for conductor. You should be fine they just want to make sure you aren't prone for sleep apnea because of the train accident with the metro north train years back.

Were you put on medical hold? What is your weight? Not sure if I should go see my doctor now to clear me of sleep apnea, but I don't want to be placed on hold and be delayed.
