Here is a table I made for all line lengths and station totals. This includes data that was previously given earlier in the post. I also added a column that multiplies the line length and station totals to combine the two variables and see how the lines compare. I also added a rank column that ranks all lines by this measure.

Disclaimer: the line length and station count is based on the longest possible size which includes weekend and night service.

    **UPDATE**

Sarah Meyer just confirmed the following stations will go live in December:

3 million OMNY taps and counting!! And coming in December, OMNY will be available at Penn Station, Whitehall, South Ferry, 86 Bay Ridge, Sutphin, SIR, 51st to 125 on 4,5,6, 138 to Woodlawn on 4, and Rector to 59 on the 1. Tap on.

Yes! I can finally commute from Staten Island to class. But still no readers at 23rd St so I guess this will only be useful one way.

Transportation Systems Management, which needs very little -- if any -- dedicated infrastructure. Think of it as a route that's only special because of specific monitoring. It has no real potential, so it was ultimately canned.

Oh yeah I remember they were talking about that as one of the alternatives. I still don’t get why they couldn’t use heavy rail though when the tracks are already there.

They are busy examining the alternatives to give the illusion that they were considered.

How much you want to bet they chose the least expensive option even if it’s the least effective just so they don’t have to spend more money to place any new rail?

I'm assuming that the decision was "finalized" before the process began.

No because they have like 6 different routes along with four different modes of transit for each. They need time to choose the best one.

We’re all getting our hopes up though. Staten Island never gets and never will get funding for any new transit infrastructure projects. They will do endless studies just to give people hope.

They could remove the trees, narrow the sidewalks, and turn the median into a double yellow from St Peters to the ferry and preserve the parking, the bike lane and build the bus way.

And moving the 120th into the mall frees up even more space.

Or just use the rails below the parking garage and turn it into an HRT.

I only thing is that the West shore isn't as populated as the other parts of the island and IDK how many people Working at the Teleport from NJ would use the train instead of their cars.

The North Shore Line connects with the RVL at Cranford and riders can go from NJ to SI easier by public transportation, so that's why I think the connection would be beneficial.

They would have to reactivate the north shore right of way for a heavy rail line again in order to let NJ Transit run on it. Too bad they are going for a BRT which is probably the least efficient option they could’ve taken.

The other reason for terminating at Arlington is to connect with the North Shore Line if Heavy Rail was used but I don't think that the West Shore Line is as important as the North Shore Line (with NJ extension onto the RVL for some RVL trains to run to St. George) and the NJCL connection between Perth Amboy and Tottenville. (Most likely the link to Tottenville would be at South Amboy).

Is that better than having a SIR heavy rail going along the west shore, connecting to the North Shore BRT along the way, and finally going to Elizabeth with a terminus by the Elizabeth station?

I don't know about interstate aspect of it, but without a separate ROW, that light rail between Richmond Valley and Tottenville is a nonstarter. That would either require the light rail to be classified as a railroad or have some FRA waivers akin to what helped to kill North Shore LRT.

They can't just reserve a rail for it to run on separately from the SIR? I know passenger and freight rail can run together so I don't see why light and heavy rail can't do the same.

Thank you! As @checkmatechamp13 has stated, a bus should run to Newark. It is insane that there is no bus connection from Staten Island to the closest airport, Newark.

Ridiculous! Why is there no bus to Elizabeth? Newark? Perth Amboy? These neighborhoods are right across the Arthur Kill and we have NO ACCESS TO THEM! And the closest airport to Staten Island is EWR and we can't even get there without a 2 and a half hour commute. It might actually take less time to get to JFK with the current subway than to the airport that's a couple miles away from Staten Island.

Anyway, I want to share an updated map for my idea for new transit connections for the west shore. srFMmlT.png

The red line is the existing Staten Island Railway, a heavy rail line. The blue line is a light rail line called the West Shore Light Rail which runs primarily along the West Shore Expressway and Richmond Ave and terminates at 8th right by the HBLR station. The green line is a new heavy rail line called the Arthur Kill Railway and covers the remaining parts of the west shore not covered by WSLR and runs along the west shore expressway before crossing the Goethals Bridge and terminating by Elizabeth NJ Transit commuter rail station.

With this new expanded Staten Island rail system, most of the popular destinations on Staten Island are covered along with access to New Jersey to allow easier commutes to Manhattan for Staten Island and New Jersey residents. Thoughts?

They also could of connected the North shore Branch with the NEC  or the Raritan Valley Line via the Arthur Kill Vertical Lift Bridge if they chose HRT. (Yes I know some track connections would have to be made for this to happen.) NJT could also have some trains that terminate at St. George via the North Shore Line for workers in Downtown Manhattan via the Ferry or for NJ workers that work in SI. (If there was also a bridge from Perth Amboy to Tottenville that connected the NJCL, you could have some NJCL trains run to St. George for same reasons as above.)

Or have the North Jersey Coast Line have it’s own bridge that passes through Perth Amboy into Staten Island. It could run along the west shore expressway before ending at the West Shore Plaza.
