The (MTA) is full of shit, Go ride the trains and see how packed they are. Not trying to sound rude but I'm tired of the " (MTA) says the ridership is the same and there's plenty of room" That's all bullshit and when congestion goes into effect, Y'all going to learn the hard way. As for the R46's they haven't started yet besides a very few cars. The trains aren't empty at all, esp during rush hour. Why do you think they purchased buses they rejected in 2008-2009 from NJT for? Come on man use your brain.

I still think they'll get them, they aren't testing them for CBTC for nothing. It would make sense for them to get them anyway due to the high capacity of the (E) and (F).

There was actually some political pressure behind the move to add more express buses to Brooklyn and S.I. As there’s a higher chance of people going from car to express bus vs the subway. I know one person who told me this is what they will do instead of driving but avoiding the subway at all cost. Time will tell how all of this plays out. Also queens blvd is the only area CBTC train sets can be tested.

Option Order I is to replace the older trains too and if they do make the (C) full length Only a small chunk of Option order I would go to pitkin or 207th. They haven't even started retiring the R46s in mass yet since congestion pricing is around the corner and CI still have a spare issue. Option I is 640 cars so that's plenty of cars and majority of Option I would either go to Jamaica or Concourse since Jamaica routes have CBTC already and the (D) will eventually get it as well on 6th ave on top of the GOs that the (D) can sometimes run on 8th ave.

Their Priority should be to make sure they have enough equipment for the potential surge in ridership.

The MTA has and keeps saying the trains are empty and there’s plenty of room for lots more. Their priority is retiring r46’s asap.

I just hope that the MTA exercises option order 2 not only to make the "C" and "G" full length, but also to eliminate the subway car shortage that has been affecting the B division since the retirement of the r44's and to properly accommodate the growth in ridership.

Remember their first priority is CBTC and end of life r46’s not fixing car shortages or full length train sets for both lines. That’s an afterthought

East New York can’t even store the cars it already has. There’s at least 5-6 J’s parked in various corners every night.

again, the relocation of those cars is predicated on the expansion of 207’s inspection barn to hold full length trains, not the arrival of new equipment.

Everyone seems to forget that this is the reason why the C does not use 10 cars. Also the MTA cares more about how many trains can they put into service vs a spare factor.

Can’t we just upgrade Canarsie CBTC to be compatible with the rest of the system? It seems overly complicated to have cars restricted to one line.

Won’t likely happen as there’s more of a need to roll out new cbtc vs replacing existing ones just for compatibility. Likely the L doesn’t need too many more sets which the cost would likely be less than changing out a system. If eny had enough sets they wouldn’t need to borrow from the L line. This is really all r211 option 2 order talk.

Got some potential news from the grapevine, would be nothing too new but as always take it with a grain of salt.

Car equipment's current plan is to keep the r68s around for around another 8-10 years due to them being purchased with federal funding way back when, so dont expect the 268s for a while. Of course, the car equipment of today will most likely not be the same car equipment a few years from now, as always, grain of salt.....

I don’t think it’s to anyone surprised the R68’s/A’s will be around for a while and will likely replace the r46’s running on the N Q W.
