I wonder if those tail tracks south of Whitehall St could possibly be extended. They’re pointed directly at Governors Island, so I’d have the stop there, then head into Red Hook under either Van Brunt St or Richards St with 1 or 2 stops before shooting straight to Saint George taking over the SIR.
Red Hook to Saint George would be about the same length as Howard Beach to Broad Channel (roughly 3.7 miles), so not a big deal if MTA construction costs could be reeled in (a huge if), it’d be a huge undertaking but it seems very doable, and this route would avoid any interaction with the in Brooklyn, easing reliability/capacity concerns. As far as Manhattan and Queens go, since the already exists I don’t see this being a huge problem. I mean, service might have to be increased somewhat (CBTC should help), but it’s not like the SIR is busting at the seams, the current headways are horrible.
Also, this is probably an even bigger pipe dream, finish the SAS and create a connection to Atlantic Terminal, have the takeover the LIRR to Rosedale, add a few nicely spaced infill stations along the way. Faster commute times for almost everyone along the route, tons of pressure taken off the QBL, allowing enough room for the Rockaway Beach Branch connection.
These are the infill stops I’d add:
Utica Ave
Rockaway Blvd
Woodhaven (LIRR Woodhaven)
Lefferts Blvd
Linden/Guy R Brewer Blvd
Baisley Blvd
Anyone at Locust Manor or Laurelton trying to go to Far Rockaway or Long Beach can still do so, just transfer to those lines at Rosedale. Anyone trying to go to Penn Station can easily transfer to the LIRR at Jamaica Station, free transfers with OMNY on the new $2.75 LIRR Penn-Jamaica “shuttle” that makes local stops, trains are revamped M7’s with 6 doors per car and subway-style seating. I could see such a line really cannibalizing the .
This proposal would make it easy to get to Rockaway, but it would drastically decrease ridership on the Far Rockaway LIRR line

I do like this proposal, but I have some questions:
- If the goes to 205 St, where are you sending the ?
- Why did you make it go all the way east towards Broadway junction and suddenly redirect it to Kings Plaza?
- What happened to the rush hour express on the concourse line?

I wonder if it would make sense to send one of those services [perhaps the ] to the Crosstown line to replace the and to give those stations a direct link to Manhattan.
I do not think this could really work. I think a 0-transfer service from the Crosstown line into Manhattan would be a great idea, but the was made to connect Brooklyn and Queens without entering Manhattan. Plus, absorbing the into the would mean the would become a 24/7 service, and that would mean there would be a lot of empty trains in Manhattan during nights and weekends. This could not work for the either, since that would mean the would have to be changed to a Crosstown line since it would run from 95 St to Forest Hills via Crosstown. Even if it isn't changed it would have to become some sort of loop. So it would be better off sending the to Forest Hills and 95 St, and that would not end well on Queens Blvd.

What, no red train via the 7th Avenue Line?
Isn't that just a Dyre Av bound ?

In that scenario, one alternative I would suggest is this service plan so customers can easily transfer to Broadway trains at Canal Street at all times:
Weekdays:
- 95 St to Chambers St
- 71 Av to Metropolitan Av
- 96 St to Stillwell Av via Bridge (express in Manhattan and Brooklyn)
- 71 Av to Canal St or Whitehall St
- Ditmars Blvd to 95 St
Weekends:
- 95 St to Metropolitan Av (replaces service)
- No service, use
- Ditmars Blvd to Stillwell Av via Bridge (local in Manhattan, express in Brooklyn)
- 71 Av to Whitehall St
- No service, use in Queens; in Manhattan; in Brooklyn
Late nights:
- 95 St to Chambers St; shuttle between Myrtle Av/Broadway and Metropolitan Av (relabeled service)
- No service, use
- Ditmars Blvd to Stillwell Av via Tunnel (local only)
- No service, use in Queens; in Manhattan
- No service, use
service is unchanged
I think its best the late night shuttle service should remain labled as to avoid cofusion. And to make things simple, route the to Jamaica Center and remove the during late nights so there is just one Nassau Street line between Jamaica Center and 95 Street

2 things:
Send the to 179 St with trains running express.
Bring back the rush-hour

Then put it on 125th Street...
When It's on 116 St it would cut the corner and so be quicker

The bus isn't even that busy, why would we build a subway there?
It could go through queens to LGA as a faster substitute for the M60

How about a 110 street crosstown line in manhattan?

What about rebuilding the Smith- 9 Sts Station? SInce the MTA is working to bring accessibility to the subway, that would be hard and expensive for a station elevated 70 feet in the air.

Nice idea, but I'd terminate the extension at Cedar Avenue and Fordham Road. Sedgwick is very wavy which might make the construction of a subway rather infeasible.
Agreed. I was planning on having it cut a few corners, like in between Jerome Park and Gun Hill Rd

My line extension:
Starting the track map at 110 St
110 St
116 St
125 St
135 St

Yankee Stadium-Macombs Dam Bridge Metro-North, walk to
Goes along Ogden Ave
166 St
169 St
Cross Bronx Expy -Sedgwick
Turns onto Undercliff Ave
175 St
Merges to Sedgwick Ave
Burnside Av
183 St - Fordham Rd Metro-North at University Hts

It is!

Wheaton to me was "where I ride that long ass escalator and walk three long ass blocks and I'm at my Mama's house" until she moved to Hyattsville.
Wheaton station actually holds the title for the longest escalator in the western hemisphere!

I'll never forget the one time my mother yelled at me for some reason, and I stormed out of the house & took it upon myself to finally see just what the hell "Wakefield-241st" was....
I did the same thing once in Washington DC, I found out what "Wheaton" was.

I don't have the videos RN, but in 2 seperate videos I caught a train with its rollsign in between and on the back. At the same station, the very next train, a train, had one of its rollsigns shown as a yellow train
shoot forgot i said this already

This is kind of cool that this happened
On the back of a train, the rollsign was in between and
The very next train was an R160 train (was very rare back in 2018 when this happened)
The train after that was an R32 train with a yellow on the side of the 4th car.

A little off topic but still subway-related
When I was younger, I used to get bullied because I really liked trains.I knew that it was a really stupid thing to bully someone over but these people did not care. It made me really sad that they could not understand the reason why I liked something so much. but it all changed one day. I was at the transit museum with my friend (i was 11 years old at the time) in the R42 car and I see these little kids, maybe around 3-5 years old. They were really enjoying the train and making announcements. So I showed them my best impression for an R42 announcements. They were dumbfounded and it brought me joy to realize that I shared the same interest as these young children. My friends mother met with their mother, who was standing outside of the train and talked with her for a little bit. She was impressed about the knowledge about the subway that me and my friend had and asked where we were from. We said that we were from Washington DC and were just visiting (true). The mother was dumbfounded. She was so surprised that despite being around 300 miles from home,we knew so much about the subway. That moment finally made me feel that trains really was the thing meant for me and that there was nothing wrong with that. I still think about those little kids and their mom to this day.
This is very important to me, please don't be rude about it.

I like your first proposal, though I'd name it the X for Crosstown. It would make all stops to Bedford-Nostrand Avenues before getting onto the route of the former Franklin Shuttle to the and trains at Prospect Park. From there it would make all local stops to Brighton Beach.
My proposed service plan for the X is as follows:
Weekdays: Court Square to Brighton Beach
Late nights and weekends: Bedford-Nostrand Avenues to Prospect Park

For what it's worth, none of that is new. On the overnight trains? Oh boy. Been on a few overnights where joints got passed around the whole car, strangers included. Don't forget that back in the eighties the last car on New Lots trains was the smoking car!
It's sad that people get between cars tho. In September 2019, a 74 y-o lady died because she fell between the cars on an N train pulling into 49th St

Department of Subways - Proposals/Ideas

I think that the subway to Staten Island should not happen, not because the people there think a subway would bring crime to Staten Island, but because Staten Island would bring more crime to the subway lol
