  3. there will be layoffs or furloughs and it will likely affect track/MOW if and only if they cut an entire line of service and there are no trains moving on the given tracks. If that happens they will furlough or layoff trackworkers...so thats the sign. As far as warning, MOW is horrible about givening notice about anything... there are plentity of times where i had qualification appointments given to me with one day notice. They dont care and they are incompetant about it.
  4. Track Worker can go to MS 1 via provisional or promotional exam. MS 1s top at around 94k/year(after 5.5 years). MS II Starts at 96K. Supt starts above 100K MS1 MS2 are hourly employees and are entitled to overtime. They also recieve healthcare for life after 10yeas. they also have more vacation and time off options. MS1 are generally in the field and do physical labor and responsible for safety. MS2s are more management and they do no physical labor except rare occaisions. They usaully serve to check to see if jobs are completed or jobs are needed in given area in the system. Track is organized in divided in segments and zones. Each segement has General Supt and each Zone has a Supt. For example T6 "A zone" Each Zone has several ganges, ms1s and ms2. Track is also divided by days and nights for example capital days and capital nights. CD AND CN, two different adminitrations and ways of doing things. TRACK CAN GO TO RTO/ POWER DISTRIBUTION/SIGNAL VIA EXAM. Power Distribtuion works closely with track and often has provisional positions to recruit track. Their exam is know for being difficult. I beleive PD has the only direct promitional exam. Signal/RTO are open competitve as other twu titles. Promotional exams award points based up years of service up 10-15 pts. MS1 maintenance MS1 cleaning MS1 control MS1 office worker MS1 basically can have any random job assignment in track http://www.sssaunion.org//sites/default/files/files/Contract Mailing Full Package.pdf Track Worker Top is 36. they go to either Cleaning, Mainteance/Rails or Capital...Nights or Days. night diif is about $1.24 TrackWorker Specialist/Full Rate is $37. night diif is about $1.53. Dual Rate ----> Full rate generally after one year based upon pick or bid regardless if u actually performed the work. http://www.twulocal100.org/contracts-taoamta-bus Welder Burner - often works with gang(more physical labor) Track Inspector - rarely works with gang(less labour) Track Inspector ERT/CAT/TRACK GEOMETRY CAR - rarely works with gang(less labour) Truck Driver - AT LEAST CDL B - - rarely works with gang(less labour) usually as punishiment or Crane Operator - AT LEAST CDL B - never works with gang Vaccum Operator(Cleaning) - works with cleaning gang Special Operator(Capital) - occasionally works with gang Flagging Specialist Invetory etc, there other less familir spec spots to me the best spots are ,ERT , driver and crane operator because of less physical labour.
