  1. Hi everyone, I missed todays class and am unsure who to contact. I’ve gotten confused and placed my alarm thinking I need to be at the school at three pm. While gathering paperwork I see it’s Montague at 8am.. 😳 I really need a contact number. I tried Olah and the number to someone from yesterdays zoom. I won’t be able to make it until 12 or after
  2. Same! Completed mines as well. See you all later today. Hope a great first day for us all
  3. My official start day is the 21st. I was able to order my boots and they took one day to arrive. They ship with UPS and require a signature on delivery. If you have UPS my choice you can request the package to be left without signature. The site is SAFGARD.COM. The employee information should be on the packet you were given with reporting instructions for first and second day. I believe I was told to wait three days after being initially sworn before ordering the shoes.
  4. I’m glad to be reading this and seeing that so many other people are indecisive about the jump. I am set to start training on Monday. I have had some time to sit and weigh out the pros and cons of this switch. I am taking a leap of faith, hopeful that this was the right move in the grand scheme of things. I work a corporate job in banking. I’ve been there for 5 years. My salary is more there than it is starting out as conductor. I have holidays and weekends off. 9-5 schedule. I’m in the office only two days out the week. I get little more than 4 weeks of paid time off throughout the year. I am making the jump because of what the overtime pay can potentially be. My job offered a 15k counter but I still feel as though I can start completing some goals I have set more immediately with MTA. That being said.. The sacrifice of personal time for money or the forfeit of solace for stress is a difficult battle in the interim when you have to decide what’s most important to you. Commute will be hell for me and more expensive since I’ll need to travel more days out the week. Benefits of health insurance, pension and job security are all a bonus but not my driving force. I wish everyone a clear head in their choice making. I hope it works out for all of us.
  5. This week I completed my second drug test in medical since the previous ones were over 90 days ago. I attend the February 21st class. A question I forgot to ask was regarding holiday pay. The 21st is Presidents’ Day. Are employees paid double time?
  6. I believe the drug and medical results stay on your chart for 90 days with the conductor role. Bus operator is 30 days as they are actually driving a vehicle. Anyone heard an exact date for the next class? I missed the December 27th one.
  7. I’m sure the email invitation for will specifically indicate this is true but yes based on my knowledge I believe you should have proof of vaccination with you at the time of your appointment
  8. Everyone if you are not currently fully vaccinated start the process now. As of November 14th all employees must be considered “fully vaccinated”. This will mean a full two weeks has lapsed since the last dose. Pfizer and Moderna - have both doses administered and a two weeks lapse before you can begin. Johnson&Johnson - have the one dose administered and two weeks lapse before you can begin. This not optional - if you are not fully vaccinated you cannot start. Those of you beginning pre-employment should perhaps look into this starting now.
  9. Yes, I have already received details. Looks like one is set to start first week of December.
  10. I drivers license is not required a valid state ID or Permit will be just fine.
  11. Recently heard that another class will start in about 3 weeks. Do not know if this is true or not.
  12. 😔😔.. I do like them that’s why I wanted to give the courtesy. I never been one to burn bridges. I hope to start before the end of the year.
  13. Yes, I sent an email saying I would like to join the next class. I didn’t want to leave my job without a 2 weeks notice. I’ve already missed this training because it started last week. I wish I knew the exact date of the next class. There wouldn’t have been any point in holding off for this time if I’m going to be forced to leave without proper notice for the next class. I do hope the class comes soon though.
  14. Hey everyone! i went through my pre-employment and medical exam. I was suppose to start November 1st but told them I was unable to due to the short notice. I asked when the next class was but was old there wasn’t any on the schedule. Do any of you happen to know? Should I have just started when asked to? thanks! :)
