  1. As of now, the 82nd Street station canopy has been completely installed, and at 111 Street all the blue barricades have been taken down and ready for platform reconstruction on certain areas. Both stations have been covered in white sheets. Hopefully both stations are opened by Early March, work at 61st Street has been delayed as well (casual MTA shenanigans during these type of projects)

Does anybody think if the MTA would run the TOMC for the Mets home opener.

They can if it’s only using the express track, apparently there was supposed to be a red bird train run on the 7 on November 2023, but was cancelled due to various projects being done on the 7 right now, especially the Woodside station, where express trains aren’t available

That’s what the MTA mentioned on the October 2023 conference which is yes.

Those dates aren’t always accurate , they also said the T sets would enter by fall 2023, but as you can obviously see that wasn’t the case

  4. I notice that the T sets have digital subway maps instead of a psychical copy, which I think should’ve been implemented on the A sets as well, the digital maps can be updated with important information, for example with the current (F) service changes, it shows the (F) as a shuttle between 63rd and 21 Street while the psychical maps don’t

If not mentioned, the R211s on the (A) , also as the R211As for the rest of their units will follow the features on what the T's have on their maps and car positions.

It’ll be removed again for no reason, it’s only on one time and never again to be seen

  6. The MTA currently has the (J) running with delays because of maintenance at the Manhattan bridge….. anyone see the error here or is it only me… it’s posted on the website as of 4:38 PM don’t know if they’ll change such error

Edit: As of now it has changed to “Williamsburg bridge”

  7. So weird how the R211T sets have the extra features on and the other A sets don’t…..at this point I think the train operators just don’t want to turn them on or they forgot that protocol, not trynna offend any real TO’s here, it would be appreciative if someone could explain the reasoning thank you

  8. As of today at 111 street, the crews have installed new lighting at the end of the west end of the platform, and the barricades have been taken down completely, this week there will be a GO where the (7) will run express from Main St to 74th Street this weekend for station improvements, hopefully lots is done by the end of February, both 82nd and 111 Street could reopen by February or March

  9. These yellow barriers should be scrapped, nobody likes them, there is lots of bad reviews from riders, this is a waste of money, the MTA should wait till the 3 station platform doors or barriers get installed at Times Square (7) Stuphin (E) 3rd Avenue (L), which unfortunately has no contract awarded yet for the project

So is it true that <7> service will remain in its curtailed state till 2025 or 2026?  I saw that posted on Reddit recently and that would be a tremendous change if it were true compared to what they sold the public last year.

As of now there’s lack of official information, especially with the whole temporary platforms that are supposed to be installed at 46th, 40th, and 33rd street stations, with trains stopping at the middle track during station closures at 52nd and 69th street, the project at 61st street has been delayed as well, extending the suspension of express service from Queensboro to 74th street

  11. I like how the MTA is going to use the cut and cover method in this phase, it also seems like they’ve learned a lot from the first phase, lots of great changes, the 116 Street station renderings look awesome, the exposed steel pillars are so unique in the subway system

  12. Ok so….. apparently there is a “EXP MAIN ST-46 ST” program on the R188 (7)…. Now for a few, this may be confusing, but this most likely has to do with the station renewal project on the (7), this is similar to what we have with the current “EXP 74 ST-MAIN ST” program, in theory, this most likely means the whole “temporarily platforms” along 46th,40th,33rd Street could become a thing, with express service only running in one direction at a time when the platforms close at 69th and 52nd street. By the way this source comes from jc.7.24 on instagram if you want to check out the image, posted on November 2nd 2023

And Maybe the MTA needs to make these better, they look too bland and look like something you wanna avoid because of the yellow color, like one of those cones that you're supposed to avoid when there's a wet spot.

A stainless steel fence would’ve been a better option than this horrendous design

From the MTA site has, (7) trains are only making stops in one direction while the other side remains closed. With the Manhattan-bound platforms closed, only the Queens-bound trains are making local stops from 33rd to 69th Streets. Same will happen once the Queens-bound platforms are closed for renovations, with Manhattan-bound trains making local stops. 61st Street will be available as a transfer point. Each side is expected to be closed for half a year (5-6 months). The last update was made in November, so things can or have changed from what’s outlined.

    https://new.mta.info/project/flushing-line

The plans might have changed, but if the temporary platforms do become a thing, than that means the (7) will get a temporarily skip stop service to replace the <7>, using the middle track at all times until whenever the project is finished, the same process will take place when the Flushing platforms are closed, it’ll give passengers the opportunity to transfer at 61st street for bypassed stations, the reason why the tracks will be closed off is probably because of structural repairs beneath the tracks at 61st Street, just a speculation I’m not sure

Sorry. I’m confused, they’re going to remove the entire Manhattan bound 61 St platform? And also close 52nd and 69th Manhattan bound platforms? Or do you mean non-overlapping the 61 St closure. That’s a lot of stops skipped in that case.

EDIT: Never mind looked it up. They’re probably going to replace half at a time. So that section will get new platform replaced followed by switching trains to the center track and ripping out the platform on the other side. I feel bad for Sunnyside folks especially 33rd St or 40th St because they gotta ride all the way back to Woodside just to go to Manhattan.

I believe the plans are to build temporary platforms at 46th, 40th and 33rd Street stations when 69th,61st, and 52nd street stations are closed, those were introduced on the community board meeting in July 2022, this plan still confuses me, not sure how it’ll work out

  16. Big news at the 61st-Woodside Station

It looks like the contractors removed half of the Manhattan bound platform, which is a sign that the manhattan platforms will be entirely closed soon, lots of huge improvements are to come, possibly the closure of the 52nd and 69th street Manhattan platforms

I'm hoping it gets the same treatment as the Astoria stations but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The design of the stations were shown to the board community in Queens, Turns out the stations will use the same windscreens as seen on previous renovated stations like the (6)(J)(F)(3), but the big differences are that the contractors are fully rehabilitating the stations rather then reusing old platforms or fences.

The R211T’s got hit by graffiti vandals in Pitkin Yard today. Add that to more expenses…🙄

How are these folks getting into train yards?? Is there no security?

Every single yard has this issue, even the “most secured” Corona yard
