  1. I think the cause of the delays was because of the queensboro plaza elevator project that shut down the line in half for 3 weeks, which disrupt track access at 82nd and 111 street, all of this happening in January and February is what causes the project to get delayed to April rather then it’s original opening date in March
  2. The only information right now is that 69th and 52nd street will close anytime in 2024, and 103 Street will close in 2025
  3. The community has the right to complain, the MTA doesn’t promise anything on time anyway, all their recent projects have been delayed for months, especially for the stations in Jamaica. A 6-7 month construction project is enough time, I would accept a month of delay or 2
  4. UPDATE: Flushing bound platforms will be closed on May 6th until Q1 2025 😒 Crazy……. should be done in 6 months not another 11 month delay
  5. Starting tomorrow, the Flushing bound platforms will close until lord knows when. Probably late 2024, hopefully by October or September
  6. Today the stations are opening at 5 PM, they’re not entirely complete, but it’ll finally reopen after 11 months of delays The first Manhattan bound will stop at 111 Street at exactly 5:03 PM
  7. Finally the first signs are being installed on both stations, sadly 111 Street won’t be fully completed by tomorrow, that’s why I think the contractors covered the area in green walls, but at least the station is partially renovated, new platforms, new stairs, they’re the most important parts of the project
  8. New stairs at 82nd Street Left corner of Roosevelt Avenue, it’s not fully completed as of now, by the way I don’t think the mezzanine will be fully completed anytime soon, I believe once the other stairs are finished they will repair the mezzanine area. The MTA is hiring anyone right now to do these projects, where are the old contractors😒
  9. So as of today, April 19th will be the official opening date for 82nd Street and 111 Street stations, hopefully this time it stays like that, 82nd street looks 85% complete, The contractors have installed new steel benches, the PA system is fully installed, the help point’s are installed, and other utilities have been done, 111 Street still lacks on this, but hopefully it’s done by then.
  10. Seems like there is yellow marks on the floor, indicating future “pilot” platform barriers, which in this case it makes sense, there is enough space to add them there.
  11. Doesn’t seem to be the case when the MTA is adding them randomly on the , the pilot test should’ve occured on just the original 3 stations.
  12. Today at 82nd Street, the new windscreens/walls are 100% compete, they’re just awaiting to install the Green frames that are always added on every renovated station, it seems like the MTA will add art work on certain areas, similar to the ones on the and stations. Sadly the huge “82” sign won’t return to the station.
  13. With the redevelopment of the neighborhood Willets Point in Queens, the MTA should start planning to make the Mets Willets point station ADA accessible, and a full station renewal work before the redevelopment work is done, before 2026
  14. Supposedly it’s going to reopen by April 19th, 82nd Street almost looks complete, but 111 Street still lacks on completion, im more worried about the mezzanine level, since the area isn’t completed for both stations. This is what happens when they only close one platform at a time, they should’ve closed both platforms without passengers around to disrupt work.
  15. what LED, the new Interior car lights or the Signage light?
  16. I’ve seen another transit system on instagram with platform barriers that are designed better than the cheap hideous ones on our subways, it’s located in Japan and the design is similar to ours but built with iron metal, it has space for doors to open, it’s not fully closed off but it looks very modern type, unlike ours with yellow paint on it, looks like something out of the 60’s, MTA is downgrading so bad now a days
  17. Sad news everyone, 34th Street Hudson yards will receive platform barriers, I just saw the marks on the floor, this is a terrible idea since the station will look so off, and there is no reason to add barriers there at all😒
  18. Where’s the rest of the images at? The MTA doesn’t have it in their press release page
  19. Here is a quick useless fact: The Court Square Station on the was renovated in just 4 months, meanwhile it’s taking 11 months to renovate both 82nd and 111 Street stations.
  20. It seems like work is beginning to happen fast at both 82nd and 111 street stations, the new windscreens are beginning to see shape, for the first time the is seeing actual station renewals rather than the project being part of ADA accessible improvements renovation, which were seen in the past when Court Square and 74th Street were renovated. It took exactly 9 years for this project to see light, with each year passing, it seems like no contract was set at all.
  21. Yes, with this ridiculous 5 month delay, they’ll most likely close it down immediately. There is already construction scaffolding ready beneath the flushing bound platforms and behind the windscreens/walls of the station.
  22. It should be a permanent during this GO imo, maybe when the Grand Central 42nd street circulation improvements is 50% complete or so, the can run between hunters point and Hudson yards, I know it currently can’t because of such project, but it’s possible
  23. As you all know today, New York experienced a 4.8 Earthquake today, and I’m wondering what’s the protocol when an earthquake of this magnitude or larger happens on the subway?? Do the trains go on halt?
  24. I love the omny card now, I don’t need to insert the card inside the machine like the metrocard, I just scan it right through, I’m taking advantage now using it since the people in my area barely use the omny machines at Junction Blvd , I don’t need to wait in those long lines anymore
  25. I wonder why the MTA hasn’t made Mets Willets point accessible, when will the board members act and do something🤷‍♂️
