  1. lol only transit will brag about how many people their firing. Word of advice most that stuff you hear in school car is scare tactics.
  2. Congratulations and good luck to those who starting their journey and those in school car. My October class just finished schoolcar and are out on our own. Only words of advice I can give fresh out of school are to pay attention and find time to study even if its just for a half hour or an hour before class. Transit is a unique job and is unlike most jobs you have had before, this to me was an adjustment. Schedule will be erratic at times and you have alot of supervision ( a concept i wasn't used to from my previous job) for example a TSS or dispatcher in queens you've never met before is technically your supervisor I found that to be an interesting dynamic since I came from a much smaller work environment. Just be respectful, study, and ask questions everyone will do fine. Im a huge procrastinator and got 100's in my quizzes and 90s in my midterm and final, its really not hard just put in some effort and you will do fine.
  3. I’m in the final weeks of school car myself, and like the others said it will make you question your decision. There’s a lot to learn in a short amount of time and everything is new. Your schedule will bounce around a bit, mostly just 3-11pm , early 7-3 some days, and 5pm-1am other days. Depending what was your previous job it can take some adjusting too. You’ll be expected to come prepared for class, so do your readings at night if you can or on your way to class.
  4. I'm in the low 9000s and was called in for medical this week. I would suggest reaching out to them and see what's going on.
  5. I would imagine they will call you soon. I went in a couple times this week and they definitely seem to be trying to fill these next 2 classes. Oct 29 and Dec 10th from what I was told by a superintendent who gave us a info-session.
  6. Hey, got called in to pre-employment and drug testing as well this week. They spam your contact information, I got an email, two text messages, and a phone call so honestly you cant miss the notification. List number 92XX. Good luck to everyone still going through the process.
  7. @Andrebx39 I would suggest just taking it and seeing what happens. You lose nothing but 25 dollars by going. If you can afford it, go for it. You gain experience of the process and who knows maybe they get your number, don't listen to the gatekeepers and get discouraged. Worst case scenario theirs also another exam coming soon, gives you a leg up for the next one.
  8. Hi, Was wondering if its worth even going to OPA? Im list #92XX, people are saying that its highly unlikely they will get that high before the end of this list. Any opinions will be helpful. thanks.
