  1. I went to processing for mabstoa on Friday, and did processing for Bus company this morning.
I was told by the person processing my application that he would advise me to get into mabstoa over Bus company because the pension is a lot better and a lot of bus company operators are transferring to mabstoa for the pension and because it’s overall a better job.
im trying to get into bus company because I want to work the express buses in the Bronx or Yonkers depots. I am aware they will most likely send me to queens first, but I know I can eventually transfer over to the Bronx after working for a while as that’s where I’m currently living and I would prefer to move to westchester county over queens or even Staten Island if i take the NYCT job.
I was given a number to call regarding the pension differences and they explained that they cannot help me or give any information as I’m not an employee yet and I would have to accept both jobs and sit through the first day where the pension would be explained. Does anybody have any info on what the difference is between the two pensions are? I would assume that it’s not going to be too much of a difference. I just don’t want to make the wrong decision when the time comes.

  2. I went to the first processing date today. All that I can say is Make sure those employment packets are filled 100% or it will be a very long day. The packet being filled in it’s entirety will determine whether you leave the building at 11:30am, or 6pm. I’m talking about triple check every single page. Because they will send you back to the back of the line for the slightest error. Also there was a mixup with everybody’s list number. In the postal mail, I received my score and list number, but on the Email to appear for the processing date I received a completely different list number. The correct list number was in the email to appear and not in the mailed list number as there was a technical issue grading the exam.
By the time you sign in and they ask for the packet it would be too late and you’ll have to go back to the back of the line again. Also be ready to be urine tested because I was unaware, and was about to use the restroom. Next thing I knew they gave me a slip to go into the room to be tested, so there’s that as well.

With all due respect i've been hearing that nonsense for the past 3 months. I cleared my medical hold back in June, name restored to list. Since then did 2 medicals and 2 drug tests. I've been to this place 9 times since starting this process back in February, 9 times. Each time i go is about $20 or more in parking. So far i had to call out from work 3 of those 9 times. I'm in the hole $1500 dollars from paying for my own sleep study and sleep apnea machine. Every time you go to this damn place it's something else, it's always something.

Cool man, I wish you the best of luck.

This is a good question. I think the stress is more with TA than with MTAB. Well in my case I like to stay busy and work a lot. At TA I am getting on average 50% less hours than I was at MTAB and I’m working late nights. I don’t really enjoy working after dark so I think that has a huge impact on it. I’ve probably gained 20lbs or so in the last couple months.

Ok the bright side you qualify for the Train operator promotional exam.

I think I need to drop some pounds. The stress on this job gets to you. I stress over eat.

Go on YouTube and search snake diet or Cole Robinson. His advice is free, and he has the most results out of any other coach in the country. On his instagram and Facebook page it’s filled with results after results of people losing 100+ pounds every week. He preaches a fasting focused lifestyle. He’s pretty hardcore and rigid but his stuff works 100%.

From what i heard it's way easier to get a gun and badge than it is to become a bus driver in new york which is actually laughable.

If I remember correctly while doing the process for Corrections, during the medical I filled a questionnaire, and one of the questions  asked was if I was ever placed on medical hold, or medically disqualified from any other state city or Fed agency. I’m sure NYPD and all law enforcement agencies have the same criteria and will investigate what happened with the process.
I recommend finishing the medical process so you don’t have any issues in the future. Plus you’re so close to getting the job it looks like you’re like 97% done. just turning around and undoing all the hard work and potentially causing trouble in the future it’s not worth it in my opinion, but what do I know.

First of all, as per the guidelines, can you please refrain from "bumping topics?" I see that you "bumped" three of them at the same time.

Second, congrats on your list number! I highly doubt that it's an error, since the agency is desperately looking for Bus Operators.

Although this is a public forum, I have a couple of questions for you:

-How much exercise are you getting on a regular basis, such as walking around your neighborhood (providing it's safe to do so)?

-How many calories, or how much food, are you taking in on a regular basis?

Eighteen pounds is not a lot, and, if you start making some changes, hopefully, by the time you report to 180 Livingston Street, you will meet the BMI requirement!

    Good luck!

Not doing any exercise yet I’m just at a caloric deficit about 2,000 a day on average. Lost 20 lbs last month.

  8. Hey guys. I have my CDL A PERMIT only. I have air brakes, tank, double triple, and passenger. I didn’t have the job at in mind first when I went to the DMV to take these endorsement exams as I just simply wanted to do regional or an OTR job but I changed my mind as it looks like I’m not gonna make more than 75k with how the way things have been in the trucking industry coupled with not having a pension or adequate enough benefits. If I don’t get my CDL license before I get called by transit do I have to do something special like go to the DMV and downgrade to CDL B? Do I have to re take any DMV tests? My permit expires in April next year anyway so that’s not an issue at the moment I’m just trying to figure out what my next course of action would be if I get an email to appear for employment process and I don’t have my license by then because I don’t want an unnecessary delay.

  9. Took the exam on the 19th. I got my list number and exam score in the mail sometime earlier so I hope everyone is checking their Mail.

I got my list number in the top 5 for both exams 4302 and 4104 and scored 96 on the exam. I don’t know if it’s an error or what.

only issue i’m having is being 18 lbs over the BMI requirement, so Im hoping I don’t have to do medical within the next month lol.

Random list numbers were when they issued the BOSS. I believe those days are over.

If it’s not random list numbers then I hope they call quick. I think I only got one of the questions wrong on the memory portion. I had to really think, and forced myself to make up any answer because my head was pounding from thinking so hard and I was still in the beginning of the exam. I really don’t know how anybody can get less than 90% on these exams. It reminds me of the exams I took in the 2nd grade for fun.
