  1. Apparently some (buschat) are saying 3800 is simply a demo due to numerous features and details that the (MTA) normally does not incorporate into production buses (such as pull cords, extra lighting etc.) Also, some are even saying buses 3801 and 3805 do not exist. So this would be interesting.

  2. From what I have, this is who is on the list to receive some NG's

    NYCT

    CAS

    YUK

    CS

    MJQ

    GH

    KB

    QV

    FLA

    GA

    FP

    ENY

    MTAB

    BPK

CPT (but they may end up being the CNG model)

    FAR

    JFK

    LGA

    SPK

Thats an interesting selection, I'm surprised they didn't put Manhattanville in there since I heard at one point the (MTA) wanted that depot to become an all hybrid depot.

  3. So the buses are here! This Friday, Trevor Logan and Ray of TransitStuff along with myself will be going to get together Friday and get over to Staten Island to see these buses. Supposedly the 4300 MCI's will now be renumbered.

    Staten Island Division

    Casleton Depot 3800, 3801, 3805

    Delivery plans:

Casleton 3800-4025 to be complete by February

    Yukon 4026-4099 to follow

Is it alright if I create a separate thread that will track the buses as they are delivered (ongoing roster) similar to what I did with the Orion VII.

  4. Ya, North Shore Line is gonna get worked on because the MTA was to do something with that line. They wanna try to run HBLR on there.

Do you or anybody else have any info on this, I think I remember the North Shore line vividly but I'm not too sure if its the same thing.

  5. Hmmm....so the entire fleet is gonna go.

    Three choices:

    1. R179s

    2. Modified M8s

    3. Something totally different

It'll most likely be just R179s.

I honestly don't see it as M8's because in another section, they did mention it would be B division cars. So my bet is on the R179's. But there is a possibility for something else.

  6. According to the Capital Plan 2008-2013, the following is planned for the SIR.

"Staten Island Railway was created in 1971 when the City of New York purchased the railroad from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company. SIR serves an average of 15,000 weekday riders and includes 23 stations, 64 rail cars, 30 track miles of mainline track, 5.1 track miles of yard track, 32 mainline switches, 42 yard switches, two support and maintenance shops, 25

work trains, 28.6 route miles of structures, 28 thru-spans, 48 mainline signals, 41 yard signals, and five power substations. The overall SIR system is in good repair except for two passenger stations, yard track, and yard switches.

    The 2008-2013 Capital Program

The proposed 2008-2013 Capital Program includes $276 million for SIR. The entire R44 railcar fleet will be replaced ($192 million). The Atlantic and Nassau stations, which are dilapidated and located very close to each other, will be replaced with a single, new, ADA-accessible “Arthur Kill” passenger station ($16 million). Also planned are Phase 1 of the modernization of track and switches at the St. George Terminal ($30 million), and the repair of nine bridges/thruspans ($38 million)."

Its seems that the MTA wants to fully replace the current rolling stock at the SIR rather than transferring older cars there. Also, it seems the MTA is going to remove the Atlantic and Nassau stations in favor of one station named Arthur Kill. Any comments?

  7. Wow! 330HP, and 2,700 ft-lb low end torque

I'm not used to reading about the power output of a bus.

I was just thinking the same thing when I read your post. It's really interesting to hear that since we don't tend to hear that often.

Anyway nice collection.
