  1. Well yeah but you will get into trouble doing that

I'm not doubting you would get into trouble. I just know from experience that all the end doors of all the other types of cars have no locking mechanisms and I'm guessing that the M8's are no exception. The barrel end doors can be latched, but not locked. The only way the cab door can be positively locked is when cab door is closed half cab.

  2. The only cab that will be locked is the back and the front cabs.

Will these be locked or do they have the ability to be opened by pushing on them like the M7A's. Last I knew any train could not be locked in the full cab position in the event of the need of emergency egress in the tunnels.

  3. Where did you get that information from? Closed-toe shoes and long pants? They can't wear steel-toe boots because of the electrocution hazard around third-rails.

I can't speak for LIRR but Metro North spells out what type of boots must be worn. Some of the spec's include "a defined heel", "slip-resistant soles" and "At least a six-inch high ankle".

As far as uniforms, the only personnel required to wear uniforms are those that directly interact with the passengers. These include conductors, ticket sellers, ushers, customer service rep's and commissary personnel (bartenders).

  4. I took the exam a year ago, passed it, my background check was all done, and applied for the Inventory Control Clerk position that was recently available and was never even called for an interview for that position.

There is a chance that even though there are vacancies for a given position today, there won't be tomorrow due to bumping. In other words, if I got bumped from my position I could bump into either a vacant inventory control clerk job or one held by someone of less seniority.
