With what money??? Are they just restoring to a pre-pandemic level or is this a service INCREASE at the expense of the other agencies (namely, NYC Transit) when LIRR ridership is way wayyy down?

Board docs today give an update on QBL west, 8th Ave, Culver CBTC. QBL East CBTC award is in there too.

I was wondering if they were going to do QBL east of Kew Gardens. I knew I had seen it in the past on these forums but hadn’t heard anything in a long time from the MTA about it

This is additional money, so they got $14 billion IIRC, and now this $10 billion. Some of the funds is for infrastructure projects like the SAS extension and the Metro-North Bronx Project to Penn Station, and the rest is indeed for the operational budget.  This doesn't bring them out of the woods, but they certainly can't use the excuse that they aren't getting funding to keep running the current service, because this will hold them for a bit at least until more permanent funding is found/finalized. This has allowed them to hire more bus operators and conductors and pay for overtime with the ongoing worker shortage.

Ok thanks. This article was confusing

    1) I’d take your union to task over that

Our union sucks and this won’t be addressed until they are voted out by a more “progressive” slate. The contract they just offered us (and our shitty union actually rejected) would subject all of us to home visits. But what law did you use to get those managers fired? As long as a law’s legislative purpose is contravened, its protections cannot be waived in a collective bargaining agreement.

Only if it’s worker’s compensation related.

Anything else - checking if home, asking for detailed medical information, etc - is illegal - UNLESS it’s information found in a DOT or employer-sponsored physical.

Now if an employee is dumb enough to call out ill and then get caught on the Cyclone at Coney Island, that’s on them. But visiting the house to make sure someone actually has the flu?

I’ve gotten several managers fired for that. That’s why MD notes/treatment verifications exist - to prove that the employee was under some medical treatment (or caregiver to someone with one) to validate the absence.

It’s in our contract that they can come to our house if we’re in the worst 30% of sick leave users. If there is some law that says they can’t please let me know. You can inbox me if you want.

Just do not hold y'all breath waiting now....

They got lots of work to do i say 2022 at least for the Queens Blvd Line.

I see they are building a relay at Kings Highway for the F so im guessing CBTC will be in effect from Jay to Stillwell on the Fox.

Testing is going to begin this December on the Queens Blvd line. You don’t think testing will take 3 years, do you?

But Forest Hills has to be the worst terminal to have trains terminating at. You obviously can't send them to Jamiaca Center, so 179th is the only viable option. What we can do is have some rush hour (M) And (R) trains extended to 179th St, which is when the delays at Forest Hills start happening.

I find the worst delays to be after the rush hour when they’re trying to lay up everything so maybe send them to 179 an hour after the rush too

  8. When CBTC on the Queens Blvd line is up and running, have the (M) go express in Queens to Forest Hills and go local all the way to 179th St with the (F). I haven’t done the math but the (M) doesn’t run so frequently that CBTC on the express track wouldn’t be able to handle it, right? It makes no sense to run more trains on the local track if they’re just going to be backed up going into Forest Hills. But increase the headway on the (R) to a reasonable amount for the time of day to pick up the slack from the (M). I don’t see the (M) too crowded anyway, even in rush hour! 179th St is set up to be the best terminal in the system for turning around trains and they only use it for one line yet Forest Hills is backed up every day and they’re using it for two lines 🤔

  9. I heard Around 2018-2019 Jamaica is actually supposed to rehabbed their yard and expand it to add more subway cars as well as eliminating the weekend/late night layups.

What do you mean eliminate the layups? Keep them in service all night and weekend?
  10. With all the talk of East Side Access in the news this week, I was thinking maybe they should just do phase 3 first. On In Transit this week the guy said a lot of people are going to be jumping on the Lex line from the LIRR at Grand Central. But if phase 3 isn't built yet, the Lex is still going to be over capacity. That might be a big problem
