They finish your background investigation during your first year. Employees have been disqualified and/or fired for discrepancies in the past.

So how would they verify whether you have 5 years of work experience? I doubt they're just gonna take your word for it. I'm assuming it's a requirement before they hire you.

So question, 5years of work experience ,, I did 12 years with the city then left to work in the private sector, and that didn't work out when Corona hit. Those 12 years I did with the city does that sums up to complete my 5 yrs ?or do they start counting from when they call you (present) & go back 5 yrs,, of work experience?

Hello all, 442x here. Just got home from pre employment.  First off, it’s a LONG day, be ready for that and make sure you have no other obligations during the time you’re there.  If you work take off.

with that said you’ll go sign in at the front desk and continue to the 5th floor .  You’ll check in and sign your name that you’re reporting.  For us, they took us upstairs with the director of training g and gave us some things to learn and know about the job.  We then went back to reception and someone went thru the whole employment processing paperwork on a group basis

*my advice, have everything already completed, it’ll get you through faster.*. Quicker you hand in your application is the quicker you get taken to the lab.

you’ll then go the lab where it says stamp your paper….unnecessary for us so only do that if they tell you.  You’ll wait (again) to take a urine drug test.  They will not provide water unless you don’t provide a specimen.  But you’ll be there 3 times as long for sure.  You’ll then receive your drug test copy of papers and be sent on your way .  They say they’ll contact you within 3-90 days

what the training director said:  “don’t worry about how many classes, we’re hiring train operators all year and we need at least 600”. “We’ll be doing two classes a month then skip a month, then do another two classes, etc”

so with that said, more emails to come for sure…keep a look out

if y’all can just let me know what we’re up to medical wise it’d be appreciated

    any questions I can help

That's great news , thanks for the info.. I may still have a shot 5,18x

    i hope they give the 4000s a chance :(

What shift is best for folks who don't like human interaction from coworkers / supervisors / dispatchers?  AM vs PM vs Mid-nights??  I just want to be left alone.

Well they are already calling up 4,4xx according to the last postings, but as a train op you will be dealing more with supervision straight up all the time, I was a conductor I dealt with passengers more then my train op, my train op dealt with rail control center , and dispatch and tower operators, as my self , but the train op has it a lil smoother then the conductor dealing with passengers, even though it is part of the job and both the train op and conductor are responsible for that train, how ever I'll say the mid night shifts.

He paid for the test and has certain rights afforded to him by civil service law. I agree that it isn't fair to people waiting but this isn't a team sport. He(or she) have to do what's best for them within the limits of what they are allowed to do.

When u come down here there may be a personal situation that causes u to have to resign the job, God forbid, but you'll be grateful for the right to be able to come back up to twice more if necessary.

Dude , everyone has plms, if I would to put this job off cause of  plms, issues, or what ever, I be putting off this job for ever, if You want the job, you do what ever it takes to get the job. Plane and simple , either you want it or not.

You resigned , you have pretty much taken a spot from us that want the job no matter what …….if you do that three times that’s really insensitive and selfish. Either you want the job or you don’t .  Don’t take that as rude just speaking facts

Facts, been waiting along time, and this list is about to expire soon in September, not even sure if I can make it thru.

Hey guys. A lot of people disappear from this forum after they get in, just wanna give some input. I’m 31xx. Started in the April class. So far it’s smooth. You get a lot of material and ppe first week in. The pre employment was a pain, but the medical date is your in date. Took a few hours to get done but once you do, expect to be in the May class two weeks after that medical date. Starting pay is actually 36.50 which is more than what I expected. Good luck to you all. There’s definitely a may class.

btw. There is 80 of us in this class and expecting 80 in the next.

Thanks for the information, I really hope they call me before the list expires , my list number is 5,18x .

  10. I got this email from the exam unit after I send them an email.

"For Bus Operator, Exam # 9309, the Employee Center has called up to list number 524.  For further information, please contact the Employment Center at employmentcenter@nyct.com."

So they have called up to 524 from exam 9309, not bad at all.

    You're welcome.

If you at the top of the first page of the Notice of Examination for Exam 9309, this is for "MTA Bus Company" which is not a Civil Service position. As per this webpage, DCAS is in charge of the "Civil Service" examinations, which is why you haven't gotten anything or heard anything when you call DCAS. The same goes for all other "MTA Bus Company" positions, in addition to all of the titles under the heading of "MaBSTOA" as well.

Ok I get it, exam 9309 MTA bus company is not civil service,  I'm saying it looks like they started calling then for this exam according to that post.
