  1. Once knowing your score, how do you find out what number you are on the list ?

The MTA will get the list numbers in order when they gather up ALL of the test answers. The list #'s will begin with those that are Veterans, which will accredit extra points, and then the regular folk. Those who got 100% on their test will get a low list number, and it gets greater when you score the least number, which is 70%. We will definitely find out soon on how many people took the test and pass between 100 and 70%.

  2. The proposed key answers are out. You can check it out from the mta.info site. The test I took was a make-up test, held at the MTA H/R building on May 20th. I got two answers wrong on the test, so my score is 95%. Not bad, but I wanted a high score. Reason is because there are A LOT of people that took this easy test. So, I figure that my list number is going to be in the three or four digit category. Lol!!! Good luck to all of you, and I hope that you have a high score.

  3. Hello everyone. I'm new here. I'm a train operator and I don't want get into too many specifics into identifying myself. But just trust that I am not supervision and I'm not here to monitor anything which is my reason for remaining low key.

I did read some post concerning the new 90 days in yard policy that I wanted to make a few noted points on.

    • The November induction was the last of the promotional hires for T/O and also contained open competitive hires.
    • The December induction was the first full open competitive induction.
    • The December induction class is the last class going straight to the road in April (A Div) & in June (B Div).
    • The December induction are classes TA-20, TA-21, TB-30 & TB-31.
    • The January induction class TA-22, TA-23, TB-32 & TB-33 will be the first class going 90 days to yard.

Now having made those points I will mention that the information comes first hand from a variety of sources. Line Supt & and Union Stewards. For those who are recently inducted and are unhappy with the change, please trust me when I say you are lucky and embrace the change with open arms. Policy changes comes as a result of incidents down here and some T/Os have paved the way for you and paid a heavy price in doing so. I won't get into specifics but learning the yards is one of the most difficult parts of the training and you also learn how to fine touch control the train in the yards. When you are assigned to yards you will have a great leg up as a result of this change instead of a heavy handicap.

Lastly.....pay attention! Rest well so you can pay attention and study. A large number of mistakes comes as a result of some information you missed. This is the one job where any and all advice needs to have your undivided attention. Especially when being offered up freely.

    Good luck to you all!

Very well put, This is very informal to this thread. Thanks.

  4. I called them a few days back and they said they are still reviewing background information. But the person wasn't very helpful in saying when to expect an answer.

Then I guess that either we won't meet this next class date, or they would probably push the class date back until the background checks are officially done for our group. No matter what the answer may be, we still got to wait patiently, again.....lol.

  5. OK, just checking. Hopefully, they will either call or send a letter to let us know. Is there anyone else who heard or read anything? Let us know. Or, if you would like to call the Human Resource Center, they can give you the answers.

I haven't heard anything yet either.

Cool. I thought that I was the only one. Now, I can breathe better. Lol!!

  6. Hello to every memeber here. Im new to this and I really can use some help. I took the taffic checker test 2101 last year and got my result in sept. My list number is 830. I been calling human resource lately to find out what list number are they up to on the list. They told 127,but as I see on the post on here they were people for recieved their letters who list number is higher then 127.So my question is,Do anybody know what is the real list number that they are up to/Oh and how long would it take from them to send my a letter,a year from now or a couple of months am reallly concern. Thx you guys I appericate it.

Well, it all depends. My list number is 171, and they called me in for the orientation and paperwork since February 7th. So now, there in the process of doing a background check on those who came on the 7th and the 8th. We're talking about more than 100 people. If all of them happen to clear the background check, they will now enter training class on March 11th. So, by the time they do all that, they will begin to call in another group of 100 or more people to go through the same process.

So, by your list number, I could be wrong, but it might take less or more than a year, between september to maybe january. But, again, I could be wrong about the length of months. Keep checking the status of list numbers by either calling MTA, or reading this particular forum. I know for a fact that before I was called in, there was another person that I was talking to in this thread, and he was called in by october of last year. His list # was 23, while mine was 171. So, it comes to show that this will take some time and patience. The MTA moves at their own pace. In the meantime, I got to see if I will be called in to take this training class before March 11. Good luck to you.

  7. Well, I went to the Human Resources department at the MTA this morning. Went through the orientation for about an hour with the trainers, and then handed in my application along with my documents. Now, all I got to do now is wait, again. They said that their next training class will take place on March 11th. That's a month from now in order for the MTA to thoroughly check everyone's background. Good luck to everyone.

  8. Got my letter for traffic checker..im to report to livingston st on the 8th of feb. But I see its part time...but im wondering should I postpone it due to the fact im doing externship in the hospital for my school training a school well.

By the way im list num. 207

Well, try it out and see if you can squeeze this into your schedule. If it suits you, make the move. If not, then there's no need to hold on to it. But, you'll get the experience on how this job is.

Im currently a checker...5 years in actually, hired in '07. Been through it all and let me tell you...hardest 1yr of your life...lmfao.

Cool. Give us some stories of the good, the bad, and the ugly side of things within those 5 years. It can help us out on what to look for.

  9. I currently have Saturday and Sunday for my RDO's. I always have weekends off since training. Most of my training class have weekends off since most checkers for this pick have weekends off. Due to seniority you don't have a choice of the RDO's you want. How it works is that you pick a job depending on where you fall on your seniority, then whatever is left you get the RDO's that is available.

That's not bad at all. I'm looking forward to this next phone call from transit, if they ever call. But, as always, we've got to be patient. If there's any other updates, please let us know of what to expect.

  10. I mainly work the early morning shift that in the past few weeks that I been inside many depots before the driver does his run and I do the survey on the bus route I be covering.

Not bad. Have you also chose your RDO's for the week, or do you have to wait to gain some seniority in order to get your own days off?
