  1. Its at Wayne. My normal driver had it. He was not happy with it and I understood why. Slow brakes, mediocre A/C and it only did 65. Not sure how it ended up at Wayne but I don't think its one that they want to keep. Also 7160 is at Meadowlands....it was sideswiped by a tractor trailer yesterday morning during the AM rush.

  2. Silk City Transit,

Thanks for the info. Sounds like Oradell is not a bad place to be. I'm at ShortLine so I know all about the unrealistic schedules and such. We deal with the same over here. The only reason why I'm even considering leaving is because of the lack of pension. The only other thing holding me back from applying is the fear of getting thrown somewhere like Orange or Big Tree. If I could get Oradell,Wayne or Ironbound I would be over in a heartbeat.

553, Dude we were on Rt.3 from Union City to Moonachie and I swear it was a furnace back there. Normally my regular schedule has a 40fter so there is usually no problem like that. The driver said today we'll see more 7100s on the 161 because the buses have problems making up the hills to Warwick in the summer.

  3. After the ride I took on 7166 yesterday my advice to everybody is not to sit in that back row on the 7100s. I felt like my whole ass was on fire. Even with the AC on everybody sitting back there was drenched!

    Hey Silk City Transit,

How is Oradell to work out of. I know they lines are heavy but I would rather work somewhere like that.

  4. There not suppose to be deadheading through there. Get into an accident and there goes your job. The memo posted says for all garages inculding eht.

Its one of those things you do and nothing happens cool, but the second something happens, you cant say well they did it too, cause now your getting fired not the others.

Anyways we here at eht maybe getting the 551/554 from twp.

Just like how the North Jersey guys use the GWB and West Side Hwy to get to the PABT. It's known that it goes on but as long as they don't get a ticket or have an accident then nobody cares.

Losing the 551 and 554 is a big deal for Washington Twp. Is this a spilt or outright transfer of these routes?

  5. Cant go through the holland tunnel. I member seeing a memo saying we couldnt go through even if we were detoured.

I don't know if that's still in effect. Guys from Howell and Ironbound do it during the rush to avoid the backups on 495 during the PM rush.

I think the new CNGs will be out all day from now on. The problem with the 7000s is that they have small tanks so they don't have enough fuel to stay on a all day 139 run. The new D4500s don't have that problem. Now if they are gonna be running these on the 128 I would love to know if MCI has fixed the "2 standee" problem on the new CNGs

  6. I thought that these were getting ordered for specifically for the 319?

Our CTHs are not bad buses, awesome takeoff and they are fast as hell (75mph) but they die out on the hills. I don't know how well they would work out climbing the Driscoll Bridge or the hills on the GSP. Another pain in the ass issue is that when they need work they have to be sent out and when they go down they tend to be OOS for awhile.

  7. Why does the MTA use only 45-foot coaches, but NJT 40 and 45-foot coaches?

MTA doesn't think some offpeak express NON SI routes only need 40 ft buses. Some routes do not need 45 ft buses on any run.

The reason why NJT has D4000S has nothing to do with the ridership and everything to do with space. Quite a few garages (Oradell,Market St and Ironbound) do not have the room to have a full complement of D4500s. Looking at the ridership now and what is projected in the future NJT has too many D4000s and not enough 4500s. This is part of the reason you have the Meadowlands helping on the 166 and 167, Howell on the 128,308 and 321 among others.

  8. 5648- 48 to Elizabeth

Okay, now this bus was PACKED. I was lucky to even find a seat, but it became less packed as we traveled along. Mind you it was pitch black and I had no idea where I was. Once I got to Elizabeth, I walked to catch the 62, where I gave $2 to a beggar before catching:

I thought the 48 and 62 had an actual transfer point? I would have rather they left the 62 alone if that was the result.
