I can only do them on the weekends (and the older I get, the less stoked/apt I feel like doing them these days).... Weekdays, forget it.
Anyway, to your question, Yup.... That wasn't an abnormal ride (like due to some traffic hangup or something)... a typical ride on the 317 takes anywhere from 3.5 to 4 hours, fam... I'll admit, about 25% (1 hour) of the ride is spent driving through a bunch of nothing....
Believe it or not, we actually got to asbury early... Could've got there earlier if the path to get in & out of Moorestown Mall was altered (that, and the fact we trailed a salt truck inside mall property didn't help matters either... It's like being stuck on a city bus on a 1 lane street trailing a garbage truck (don't know if you've ever been through that, but if not, believe me, it's no fun).... Then again, after Browns Mills, no one got on or off the bus 'til we hit Lakewood (that's about an hour ride nonstop right there)...
Between Lakewood & Brick, was the most passenger activity we had during the entire trip (this is common).... 27 people got on at Lakewood, and I was one of 7 people on the bus when we got to lakewood (4 people got off, which left 3 of us)... Of the 3 of us, myself & this other dude stayed (physically) on the bus, and one guy got off to (I guess) take a leak along w/ the driver... So we left Lakewood w/ 30 pax.
I say that to say, if the 317 got cut short to Lakewood, it would cut an hour's worth of runtime, but the route would struggle to survive.... I imagine during the weekday, the college kids give the route more usage, but FWIW, I'd still say it is the portion b/w Lakewood & Asbury that gives the route overall the most usage....
Although nothing can be done about it, smh at the diversion around Ft Dix (since it no longer runs through it)... Feels like you're riding around in circles, because the surrounding area all looks the same.....
The 317 and 319 is sorta like NJT's version of Greyhound with long trips. Doesn't the 317 run LAV buses?

Notice: 7332 and 7333 was scene Sunday morning by yours truly in Columbus, OH en route to NJ. Should of made it by the time the storm started unless they rested in Pittsburgh or some other location and waited at the hotel to see what was the situation with Juno.

Rather dumb when those seats could be used for the 153 express in the morning and the 159 60th Street Express in the Afternoon as well as when they're doing the 128 after the rush hours

I was still in NY when everything calmed down after that. All I can say is it's a good thing that bus wasn't going any faster than what was said or that would of been a major, major tragedy. Surely the people on the bus and anyone on the ground/street would of been killed if that bus went over if that bus went any faster and that wall wasn't as strong as it is.

Oradell plays games when I was driving. I had situations where I was doing the 128 to NY, and then all of the sudden, you see a 165 or 166, and they would stay behind me, change the sign to NOT IN SERVICE, and make me bust my butt all because I have a 45 while they have a 40 with maybe 20 people inside and room for 29 more people and a few standee's during RUSH HOUR AM service. That would so PISS ME OFF. SO much that I pulled over, told one drive I had a breakdown, so he went on, and starting picking up people. Note that by the time he left, I reappeared as NOT IN SERVICE and blew him away. He had a full bus from 48th on while I had 36 people and had CLEAR sailing. Next time, he knew now to F with me. You gotta work just like I do or just don't work. That's one of the things I don't miss with NJT: you gotta take people so just take them. At least with GLI, the only reason I can't take no one is because all seats are taken and we don't allow standees (although if they're going from Newark to NYC, I'll take a few for a 20 minute trip. No big deal).

You know it's sad when I have Greyhound drivers tell me to keep going. I'm like, F.U. It's a RR Crossing. I'm stopping. It's the LAW no matter what. They they say why do you open the door? Again, I need to hear and see. I mean, I dunno. I wish I was back at NJT so bad.

Oradell is assisting Meadowlands with the 320
Meadowlands is assisting Ironbound with the 111 and 115 if needed
Yours truly came to visit the old Meadowlands garage while I was on vacation from the hound. These changes were verified by my fellow bus operators at Meadowlands.

126 can use all the help it gets. Its gets way too crowded. Sardine can crowded. As for the 102DL3's that NJT retired, don't be surprised if Greyhound might want to take a look at a few since they need buses badly.

it seems like Greenville will get the latest batch and in return are sending their suburban's to different garages... all we can do is either investigate, fan their routes, or sit and wait
From what I heard, Greenville will not be receiving any MCIs. As Greenville is receiving new NABIs, the are tranferring the older surburban NABIs to other garages.

As for losing the suburbans, good. Transits fit more people, and with the 126 and 87 as their major lines, they need as much room and seats as they can get.

Hey what is the fare for riding the 81X because the reason being is on a friday with my two zone pass i wanted to get to JC quick however i was drop off at 53th in bayonne becuase the driver said i needed to pay again which is weird becuase it would cover only 2 zones. Plus it was only me and another person thats it so did i get hopped off legit or not?
It is 2 zones. I'd make a complaint.

I guess my services is no longer required since so many people were complaining that I wasn't giving up to date roster notifications. So, I will no longer do it. Sorry. Been busy trying to get things straighten with my life as well as accepting a position at Greyhound as a driver, if anyone gives a damn but who cares. So, goodbye.
And, Trevor, no beef on you my friend. Great work. Just miffed that people can't understand that I am busy and I try to do what I can yet some are so very rude. And, thus, my patience has run it's course........

No it was coming down 79 south of Freehold Center, it was a 130/2/9.
Meadowlands can do the 139 if there is a need for drivers. Don't forget that in case there was a bus breakdown near Meadowlands, they could use a Meadowlands bus to do the route.

Can you do that with the Clever Device? Wouldn't your bus actually show up on that route on GPS?
IIRC if you log out of it you can put up signs by hitting "DEST" and it won't show on GPS since you're not logged in.
The first Clever Devices that came out on the NABI's, dudes were not even logging IN the system, just punching in their destination. If that has changed since, I dunno. I'm hoping that there's a way to punch in the old destination sign codes instead of picking the route and then picking where you're going since some people got it wrong. There's too many legs on some routes as well as different starting/ending points. For example, the 84 in the early am used to have trips start on 32nd and Bergenline to JSQ or Nunguessers, and there was a DEST setting where the bus started from 32nd and Bergenline. Some chose the wrong setting and now wonder why the system was calling the wrong stops. LOL

Howell did say those buses are more tug and pull when it comes to turning unlike the previous models when they first came up here. NJT still stunns me. Why don't they have a number destination sign on the SIDE of the bus like all of their buses do? They kept it MTA style which looks horrible.

6224 is where then?Big tree also now has 5802, 5803 & 5804. 7176 is also at meadowlands. greenville doesn't have 6224.7611 is still at newton ave rode it last week on 409 as well as 8011 & 5373 is still at newton. Fairview also has 9505 9506 & 9507.

Um lets leave the 800-series routes in Monmouth and Middlesex counties please. There's no need to put any local routes on the highways makin' them so much longer then they need to be. All that messin' around....ain't nobody got time fo' dat!

Are some of the new MCI's being resent back to MCI and then back to Howell? When I do bus trips from Pittsburgh to Columbus, OH, I drive I-70 and I usually see the new MCI's with NJT Livery on them heading to NJ. Weird that last week I saw 7278-7284 going Eastbound while I was going Westbound. No pics. I was driving the bus with passengers. Sorry.
