  1. Due to an investigation at Jay St-MetroTech, the following service changes are in effect:

Northbound r.png trains are running on the q.png line from DeKalb Av to Canal St.

Northbound e.png trains are running local from Queens Plaza to Forest Hills-71 Av.

Expect delays in e.pngn.pngq.pngr.png train service.

    Allow additional travel time.

Now what does any problem at a station in Brooklyn have anything to do with NB (E) trains running local in Queens?

  2. You guys do know they just used the old 2009 map and changed the front cover and Times right?

Another note, the Franklin (S) map was updated to show "Now (B) express service in Brooklyn." What does that have to do with the (S)?

Other then that, every timetable has been updated except for the (N).

I don't know about the Brooklyn (S), but the "(B) express" mention had been used on the (Q)'s timetable since October 2011, when (B) express in Brooklyn was reinstated after 2 years, and only has finally removed with this week's timetable update on the (Q).

  3. Good luck trying to transfer to the LIRR at Hunterspoint or Penn (and Metro-North at Grand Central).

Funny thing is, when the Night Map was first released in January 2012, it also erroneously showed the Hunterspoint and LIC LIRR connections, but has since been removed in current revisions. Also the most recent version of the Night Map (September 2015), which added 34th St (7), also restored the (N) stop at Jay Street, which had still been missing during its September 2014 revision to reflect the Montague Tubes' reopening. So this shouldn't be much of a surprise. The (MTA) needed to take lots of work in doing this, and they were bound to bypass some blunders along the way.

  4. Apparently, the (N) is replicating the (R) for its entire modified segment. From 59th Street/4th Avenue to 59th Street/Lex via the (R) tunnel. Could it be more logical to just suspend the (N) altogether, like the (Q)? Or even:

Have the (N) run via (R) from Continental to 59th/4th (back during Sandy, the (M) terminated at Jamaica Center), while the (R) runs its Bay Ridge shuttle all day.

  5. I finally got to take a test ride on Tuesday. It was very interesting to CP's "Q48 to LGA" for the first time. I've already heard the announcements between Times Square and Court Square via YouTube videos. One major downturn for me was that the warning tone sound used when doors are closing, was the same distorted-sounding version heard on the newer B Division cars.

  6. Here's how I understand it (if I'm wrong please correct me):

-Traditional FASTRACK: Suspension of a line segment every night for (typically) 4 consecutive overnight periods, between 10pm and 5am each night.

-Weekend Daytime FASTRACK: Sounds like a suspension of a line segment from 4am-10pm or 7am-7pm, something like that.

-One week FASTRACK: Suspension of a line segment for an entire week.

Regarding those one week FASTRACK's (if they are indeed 24-hours):

-The Nostrand line closure won't be a worst case scenario since that is Regents week: The HS students that arent testing probably don't have classes that week (1/21-25). Plus one of the days is MLK day. This could be ugly.

    -Nassau line's a tossup

-Fourth Avenue south of 36th? Not so bad, we'll just see (N) trains on the West end and (R) trains heading into 9th Avenue.

-Closing CPW for a week would be quite a ballsy move. This one might be the ugliest one since the IRT would have to absorb the load (and they don't have much room.)

-Closing Rutgers would be a tossup as well.

Usually the MTA is on a regular (modified) weekday schedule on MLK Days.
