  1. I know guys that are Bus Operator‘s and they always tell the new guys don’t do the overtime. You are on probation for a year and if something happens on the road the transit will turn around and blame you. And they will try to fire you. When you get off probation then do all the overtime you can if that’s what you want to do. Save your job now and make the money later.

From the looks of things, seems as if UP needs 28-30 artic buses for the B1.

The remaining miscellaneous XD60s that could potentially make up that fleet is

    4743-4753, 4756 from KB (12)

    4782-4798 from GH (17)

    Ulmer Park already has 4743-4745, 4756 (4).

All together those buses would give UP a fleet of 29.

Heard the 4 buses that UP has now

need to be fixed. They been parked outside for awhile.

And That's also why they have 6032 from FB to

    train the drivers.

Another update, #6032 from FB Depot is ghosting the B1 for today it was seen on bay ridge near the (R) Stop.

6032 is not ghosting the B1.

FB loaned it for driver training.

And with that does/would anybody know what Artic's

UP getting to use on the B1 and when?

  4. Does the B6 at Coney Island Avenue and Avenue J count?

I know there's one at the depot on Harway Avenue.

That's not a relief point. It's just the turn around for the shot trips.

Also there's the B36 relief up at Stillwell Ave and Surf Ave

And the B74 at Stillwell  Terminal (Mermaid Ave)

  5. I know I have mentioned this before a while ago but essentially all of Ulmer Park's 71xx-series XD40s have additional speaker grills on both sides of the body for possible turn warning announcement activation.

Edit: spotted ENY XD40 7113 on the B82 with additional speaker grills

There are a few of the 71xx's with the announcements already working. They have it saying

"Caution bus turning" about three times.

  6. UP isn't bad I understand they don't get the best buses but look at the 5000's they've had for a while now compared to FB 5000's. Most senior operators at UP prefer the Rts. It seems like UP is where most Rts will go before they retire or head to MTA Bus.

Most of the senior operators don't want the RTS's (unless there're hoping to back down, to make OT..lol)

They either work the express or they look to get the XD's buses, but with only 40 or so of those buses

at UP. And as for the 5000's, again UP got them after they were used and abused by the other depots.

The XD's are/were the first (local) new buses they got in a longggggg time.

  7. The rts at UP do not get a break once a trip is over & they pull in another operator pulls out with that bus in the next 5-10 mins due to buses OOS. Ulmer park maintenance is not up to par. The 9600s they got from flatbush about 2 years ago were in solid condition now look at them. UP isn't even a high mileage depot.

That's true the buses come in and go right out.
And yes UP is considered a low mileage depot.
But the maintenance does the best it can with what they have.
The 9600's they got from Flatbush where good, but not really solid.
And all the buses they are getting now from other depots, come
it with some kind of problem. No depot sends another depot there
good buses, they send them there crappy buses to other depots
and keeps the good buses in there own depot.
That's why UP maintenance looks crappy and the other
depots look like they have greatest maintenance.
  8. Flatbush, ugh... Ulmer Park got screwed - then again they might be happy with that. So UP must be keeping/receiving a bulk of RTS's - which is probably a union decision lol (new bus haters).

Grand receives a new fleet again? That's good I guess.

And now I know why Fresh Pond has been sending some of their NG's to SI, besides shortages.

Other news: roster is updated: https://sites.google.com/site/mtanyctrosters/mtaregionalbusroster

The union at Ulmer Park doesn't hate new buses.
It's the upper bosses that don't like Ulmer Park.
The bosses use the excuse that Ulmer Park
    is a "low mileage" depot.
The union has been fighting to get newer buses at Ulmer Park
since the last new bus order.
  9. So I was browsing through my Instagram this morning and one of my friends from high school posted this:

    Screenshot_2014-10-23-10-33-21_zps185f52

Don't know the exact location or route.

From this picture, I would have thought the Camry tried to outrun the bus while making the turn but it looks as if it was trying to go straight? Either way...never play chicken with a bus.

The accident happened at Remsen and Flatlands Ave.
The car came out the TD bank parking lot.
Don't know how or why it happened
  10. Wow..Thats crazy..Is the B/O ok...Was there any Passengers on that bus?

The driver is ok and there were NO passengers on the bus.

The bus was heading back to Ulmer Park depot and was cut

off by a car who didn't know where they were going.

The car cut a cross a few lanes to get to the left side/belt parkway.
