JFK Airtrain question

It's a direct transfer that isn't free. You will need to pay $5 to get a ticket for AirTrain. (If you have a Pay-Per-Ride Metrocard, you can use that and only that) You might be better off just taking the bus to the airport and then taking the AirTrain from there since it's free. (If there's time for that)

I never rode AirTrain before but it should take around 15-20 mins.

It will cost $10, not $5.

Fare is charged when entering or exiting at Jamaica, and when entering or exiting at Howard Beach. That means you will have to pay to enter, and again to exit...total cost $10.

To ride within JFK airport, it is free. Only at Jamaica and at Howard Beach are fares charged.
