Nexis4Jersey Posted May 3, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 3, 2011 Theres seems to be confusing on what ROD/TOD means , Rail / Transit Orinated Development is building dense Developments next to or near Transit stops. Mostly Rail , but sometimes Busy Bus routes. Alot of the growth on the NJT and Metro North system is due to TOD/ROD. There are alot of Developments , usually 3-5 per line. Long Island is behind on this , Urban Jersey and the Northern Suburbs are seeing the biggest developments. Some adding 20,000 to the local Transit or Rail stop like @ Newport in Jersey City. The Harrison the Development is expected to add 28,000 to the Harrison PATH station. NYC , with the exception of SI and the Bronx have a decent amount of TOD Under Construction and planned , of course the original TOD can be found in NYC. New Rochelle , New Brunswick , White Plains and Stamford will have there Downtown areas completely filled with TOD / ROD by 2025 if the current pace keeps going. Some Examples of TOD are below...
