FBI agents search Manhattan apartment for remains of Etan Patz

"FBI agents are searching for the remains of long-missing 6-year-old Etan Patz in the basement of a Prince St. apartment building, law enforcement sources said Thursday.

 

The agents, who had been searching since 8:30 a.m., were acting on a tip they received in the long cold case that captivated the nation for the last 33 years.

 

The SoHo building was along the path where the blond-haired boy disappeared on May 25, 1979, as he walked the two blocks from his Prince St. home to catch a bus to school.

Wow. This case is now back in the spotlight. A New Jersey man has been arrested after admitted to being involved in the Patz case. Guys this was a huge international news story in 1979 as this case (along with the murder of the late son of current "America's Most Wanted" John Walsh)helped create a national toll free number/FBI Data base and ongoing media attention on kidnapped children.
