Apple stores confirmed in Yonkers, Halifax.

MacNN.com - "Though still unannounced, job listings, city drawings and other clues have conclusively confirmed three forthcoming Apple retail stores in locations MacNN has reported on before. The setting for the new Yonkers, New York store has been confirmed by one of our readers as being in the Westchester Ridge Hill shopping center. Meanwhile, a new Apple store is underway in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Scandinavia may be getting a second store this fall.

The Ridge Hill shopping center in Yonkers is set up as an "outdoor mall" with mini-streets and street parking alongside standalone and connected buildings in a layout that encourages walking. Nearby stores will include L.L. Bean, REI and Whole Foods. The store may help take some pressure off the notoriously-busy Manhattan stores being just a short drive north of the city but not as far north as White Plains, which already has an Apple Store.

Yonkers, located in wealthy Westchester county, is the state's fourth most-populous city. Progress on the site would indicate that the store may be open by late summer or early fall.

The Halifax Shopping Centre in Halifax, NS is to be the home of North America's easternmost Apple store and one of the expected four new stores to be built in Canada this year. City documents reveal that the store will be similar in layout to the Oakridge Centre store in Vancouver.

The space is said to be roughly 7,000 square feet in a deep, rectangular design, reports iPhoneinCanada. The store front will span 32 feet wide and be located next door to the Sears entrance.

Recent job listings along with construction details lifted the lid on the identity of the new tenant, which was kept under wraps despite strong rumors for months. The store would be over 350 miles further east than the current easternmost Apple store in Maine.

Two of the other planned Canadian stores will be in Vancouver BC and London, Ontario near the US border. Based on construction permits, the Halifax store could be opened in mid-to-late summer. The location at first appeared to be an odd choice given the city's smallish population (under 400,000), but the provincial capital is a popular tourist destination and routinely attracts shoppers from nearby Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and other parts of Nova Scotia, boosting its retail attractiveness. The mall has recently undergone extensive reconstruction in the area where the store is to be located.

Finally, Swedish site AlltOmMac has found a job listing that appears to confirm a second store opening in Sweden, in the city of Malmö. The town is Sweden's third-largest, as is a coastal community easily reachable from Copenhagen, Denmark. The first store in the county is located in Stockholm and is under construction now, aiming for a late-summer or early-fall opening. The Malmö store could be open sometime in mid-fall."
