RPTA Posted July 27, 2012 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2012 With the recent news of Orion transferring its NYC MTA contract to New Flyer, I was wondering, what is the fate of KCM's orion contract? I remember hearing that KCM signed a deal for 500 hybrid buses with Orion. However, less than 200 buses have been delivered so far. So, could Orion transfer the KCM contract to another manufacturer if the contract is still in place? If that were to occur, I would say it would most likely go to either New Flyer or Gillig (or maybe split between both), since KCM has a history of ordering from both manufacturers. mac5689 Posted July 27, 2012 Share #2 Posted July 27, 2012 I heard that Orion has just started building KCM's order, so its probably unlikely that it would be reassigned. From what I heard about the NYC order, Orion only had two buses completed, which they probably will sell to someone else and a few shells done. Orion probably reassigned the order because it was probably a little large, being 74 buses, and it probably would have effected the time table they have for their shut down.
