hi all please someone tell me the phone # at Livingston And also does anyone know : i lost the 1st letter they sent ( the one with the list # on it )....i know the # but they ask to bring the letter with you when you go down to Livingstone the 1st time for DT....so....what now???? can I get a copy anywhere?

It said the LAST # CERTIFIED is 4618 and THE LAST # APPOINTED is 582 Does this mean that first 4618 ppl on the list were sent ( well, their names !!) to MTA ? so...asked this question before and no replies...so here I go again.... Can you please tell me : 1 . when the benefits ( medical and dental ) kick in....is it during school car? or after ? 2 . when do u get your uniform? and what do u wear B4 u get your uniform? 3 . do you have to pay for uniform upfront or will be taken out of your paycheck? which one and how much? 4 . how about the rest of your gear?? 5 . I asume your transportation is free during school car....correct?? 6 . somewhere in the beginning of this thread people were posting that the school car schedule is M-F 7am-3:30pm - weekends off ; but then some other people wrote later that now they have school car in shifts??? which is which please??? still weekends off?? 7 . for those who suffer with high blood pressure and are already taking prescription meds for it ( B4 going to physical) - do you have to take with you a doctors note stating that your illness is under control - OR - they will automatically put you on medical hold and you have to go to their doctor and get a note from them??? depends of WHAT is WRONG with your previous employment history.....if you are thinking that you have changed employment often or you have long/short lapses between jobs - this is usually not a problem...what they are looking though for is if there are jobs you have been fired from and WHY ????...If it is because that business closed or they had to lay you off that that's OK but if you were fired for behavioral or racial reasons ( for example) then that's a BIG CAUSE for declining employment with MTA or ANY other city/government institution ... If you were called already and was told you will start school on 25th...then u r good to go...i really do not think they will waist time and resources to hire you BEFORE checking your history.... Just my thinking...i could be wrong though...ONE NEVER KNOWS !!!!!! However.........regarding your present employment............ once you start class you will have to quit your present job...BUT....even if you are hired and all, you still have to PASS all the tests during school car in order for you to keep your employment with MTA...if you have tardiness issues during school class or behavioral issues or if you do not score 100% on the "brakes" tests and at least 80% on rest then its the end of the line....school car is about 5 months long ( more or less) and if you do not pass at the end ...is your present job going to still be open for you to return to??? hi all... low 1400's here... wondering if someone on this forum is in a "BETTER" position with MTA to give a somewhat accurate estimate on when might it happen to be called?

so...someone with specific knowledge on this matter, please help me here: i need to understand: what is this "extra" or "extra extra" business? i heard ppl saying they were fighting/praying to pick up jobs...what does that mean? once you pass the class u get sent somewhere and then there's nothing for you to do? just sit around playing with your fingers? at least do you get paid for that? and if a whole day or days or week goes by and you were not given a job then what?? no paycheck? what's the point of hiring all these ppl if there are no jobs for them to do? I have also read somewhere that in the first 1-3 yrs you will be at work for a total of like 12-16 hours /day as they kindda "split" your day up...so you do a run then you have a 2-3 hours "break" ( which does not count as working hours and so you do not get paid for it) and then maybe you pick another run and then you have another " break" and so on until u make the total of 8 "working hours" - which means u actually work all day to get paid for 8 hours....i find this to be ludicrous ...IS IT TRUE??????? Also...is it true you start this job with no vacation days or sick days? an you have to work overtime and take that in time ( not $$$) to build some vacation days? IS THIS TRUE???? and if yes, how is this even legal??? nyc/nys labor laws do not apply to MTA??? Guys, I get it...a job is a job these days....I am just trying to get some accurate info...i heard/read too many different things.... Tks. so much ...... when do you think they will get to #1,500??

AHHHHHHH.... thank you SANDY !!!!!!!! ( or NOT !!!) Seems that MTA took a big financial hit with this one.... Now this could go 2 ways...: 1. ( ) because of the mass destruction they need MORE workers so they will keep hiring !!! 2. they will have another hiring freeze to "SAVE" some of the "LOST" money !!!! ( ) Now.... DOES ANYONE KNOW WHICH WAY THEY ARE GOING TO GO WITH ????? Will there be more classes soon?? - like right after NEw Year or early spring??? Anyone????

And i 've seen a post here where someone was saying they goy paychecks of 110+ hours ??? is that true ? and they were talking of rookies too.... do you get a paycheck every week or every 2 weeks?

i have also read somewhere in this thread ( or some other ) someone mentioned # 799...so now a bit confused.... Although...it is entirely possible they will go through as much as 7-800 ppl to find the 120 needed for next 3 classes...maybe even more considering how many people i see plan to "refuse" employment at this time....and i am talking about ppl with lower #'s I wonder what will be the going after these 3 classes this year...will they have more in the beginning of next year or the rest of us will have to sit and wait "patiently again " for another year or more??? just sayin'
