  1. Question for those who filled out the 10-page-booklet send to your home when you are called for the drug test and the 21-page-booklet you get after taking the drug test. What kind of questions are asked about your last job? Do they want the owners name or your supervisors name?? Do they ask for the address? Last, but not least what other info do they want to verify you worked there?

  2. After the first week (two days at Livingston, and the rest typically at PS 248)... All around the system based on various reporting locations within the division you choose (or is assigned to you).

If you are in the A Division, you will be reporting to A Division terminals and yards.

If B Division, B Division terminals and yards.

However, you will have days here and there where you report to PS 248, RCC, Coney Island Yard (fire school, and possibly also here for 3rd rail jumpers, even if you're in the A Division), etc.

    So, basically...all over the place.

Can someone please explain, what are the 3rd rail jumpers?
  3. Ok everyone I went down to 180 Livingston this morning at 645am for medical and my 2nd drug test for the 5/19 class. Had to take a second d/t bcuz my 1st would be past the 90 day d/t window by 5/19. Typically you would knock out med and final processing the same day. But they explained this to me via phone call this past Friday. Anyway I got there at 645am today took a number at the front desk and waited until about 745 until they started calling people. Thankfully they announced that they would be taking care of medical 1st and then everyone else after. I was the 4th person in line for med. they hand you a form to fill out with basic personal info, name, ss#, list# , etc.. You also need to have your id sscard birth cert/passport and hs diploma with you. After u fill out the form they transfer you to another room where they will call your # and have you fill out two lengthy medical history questionnaires via computer. Once you're done with that they will print up your surveys and have you sign them and wait to be called by a doc by NAME. Once the doc calls you they will take you to another waiting area where you get called in for EKG, blood pressure, urine testing for sugar, vision and hearing. Once that's complete you will report back to the room where u took the medical surveys and wait for the doc to call u again. Once called the doc will take u to a room and check your breathing and heart rate again for circulation. Then the doc will basically verbally ask you questions similar to the survey. Do u smoke, drink etc.. Have u had surgery, are you taking medication.. How's your cholesterol and sugar!!!! Key question they ask because they never draw blood from you so they are looking for any indication that there may be an issue with you. Most importantly if you do have an issue please get it fixed and second and most importantly don't disqualify yourself if you know what I mean. In my case I honestly don't have any issues and I passed with flying colors thank god. After that I had to take my second d/T and now I have to wait for the last phone call to return for final processing. According to them if everything comes back clean (which it will) I will be part of the 5/19 class. So until then I'll be waiting for my call! If you have any other questions feel free to ask. List#2280-2300. According to the front desk people the last person to officially "BEGIN CLASS" is #2090. But we all know that they have set up classes for 4/28 already with people up in 2250-2270 range already. Hope this was helpful. Best of luck to all the pending/hopefuls and congrats to all the pioneers before us on this forum who already made it through. 5 LONG YEARS AND WAITING!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. I know I'm not answering only for YOU. This IS a public forum and answers on here will be read by anyone. That being said.... I will offer you this sound advice (like I've read from many other members who've gone through it) if, and when you are called, you will first get a letter. In that packet you will get that 10 page info. Packet, and instructions on what to bring (ie. social security card, high school diploma, VALID ID, like a drivers license) and if you are missing either one of these and you show up they will not proceed until you get that. Now, let's say you have that, you will continue to take your D/T. After that, they will give you the 21 page booklet. With that comes an instruction manual describing (in detail) what is to be done. If I were YOU I would make sure I go to S/S office. Pay $102 for your work history. List EVERYTHING! If you wanna chance them terminating you for omitting info. Then don't take my advice. I see on this forum of stories that people have gotten terminated while in training. I for one do not want to be THAT person. They want everything from high school. And if you have unemployed time, you have to list it. Account for EVERYTHING. Then once you get the (phone call ) you go through more in depth medical, you pass that, fill out more paper work, then you get called to sit with an investigator. They go over you booklet to make sure you have no gaps in your booklet. After that, (raise right hand) sworn in at said title, jump for joy, go take fingerprints and a packet to take home. Done!!!! I really hope this helps! It HAS helped me!

Useful info. Ques: Do you have to bring a passport or the ss printout itself?? And what of ques do they ask about your past/current employers? Like addresses, phone numbers, and do they want the owners name or current supervisor name?? I wonder if they really call all these places up???
  5. One question: How do they conduct your past employment screening??? I have read on here previously that they want your whole work history. And people are going crazy to get their social security read outs. I mean lot of jobs I had the companies went out of business, moved, the supervisors don't work there anymore. It sounds a little crazy to me. What kind of questions do they ask on the 10 and 21 page booklets?? And what kind of questions do they ask you when your down there. Can someone who been through this process already please explain. Thanks....

  6. Once you are done the crew office is your mommy your daddy for a time..

You have a wish list of days off and tours you would like. They will try to grant them.

Remember these words "Needs of the Service" :)

How does the "Crew Office" issue schedules? By a phone call or on paper?
  7. Boo Yah, I checked end my voicemail messages this morning and I got my golden ticket....lol. Mrs. shivers left a voicemail for me to come in for medical and final processing on Thurs. April 10. Hopefully I'll make the April class with you Brownhornet and axelt...I hope everything goes smooth. I'm such a pessimist that I did not believe this day would ever come. I am so stoked. I will finally have a job that I will love.

    How did it go?
  8. Yes!!!! My call just came in. I missed it but they left a voice mail. I go in on Monday the 7th for final processing. Good luck to all. Especially my bro BrownHornet. Good Luck tomorrow. It will happen for you!!! I'm list no. Range 2100- 2140. Peace!!

    How did it go?
  9. hey everyone, just came back from medical. Everything ok, now I just have to wait to be called for final processing. This was a surprise to me since everything I have read states that medical and final processing occur on the same day. The person at the front informed me after my medical was done that they were waiting for the list. So I guess its a waiting game again. So a little bit of my experience. I got there at 630a. I was not the first there. waited in the lobby till about 7 and went upstairs. filled out some paper work waited to be called. once you are called you get on a computer and fill out a medical questionnaire. then you wait for a doctor to call you and ask you a couple of questions about your medical history and he checks heart and lungs with stethoscope. then you go and wait in another room to do hearing, vision, blood pressure, ekg, and urine test. if everything is good you wait for doctor to review results and call you to tell you whether you are healthy enough to continue or if they put you on medical hold. Keep in mind that you are not the only one processing so some things are in a different order. just make sure you pay attention and listen for your number or name. once I was done I took the clearance paper work to the front desk where I was informed that I would have to wait for final processing. So all my paper work comes back with me until they call again. Hopefully it happens quick. Well I hope this has been informative. Good luck to all

Makes no sense that medical and final processing wasn't done on the same day.
  10. TWU Local 100 will make it firmly understood to you that they have your back from your very first day, but not to the FULLEST extent they say. That's what the union representative said. I take this as you basically better not screw up in front of any TSS's that wanna write you up, or get any customer complaints or get banged in. New conductors are basically taught to bang in T/Os that overrun stations or are constantly making hard stops, or wait until or remind the T/O to call rail control, otherwise it's both your asses. I hate it.

On your very first check you get hit with union dues, about 27 bux.

    $27.00 a week?
  11. From what I was told you won't get union representation till after your probation is over. You belong to Schoolcar for that time. Meaning they can fire you for one infraction. Yes one. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Understood. Probation is one year including school car. So, my other question is; when do you start paying union dues? After 90 days???
