  1. Hey whats up folks?

Just wanted to update a few informaton.

If you are still stuck on how to figure out your currently score. Here's a little example on how to figure out what you scored.

Remember, the Final Answer key has not been release,  MTA may drop some questions which may change

    your current score.

-If you got 45 questions correct, then 45 divided by 60 equals 0.75. Turn this decimal to a percent and you get 75%.
-If you got 48 questions correct, then 48 divided by 60 equals 0.8. Turn this decimal to a percent - 80%.
-If you got 54 questions correct, then 54 divided by 60 equals 0.9. Turn this decimal to a percent - 90%.

So remember Score may change depending if MTA does drop any question(s) on the exam. A Boss Exam will be giving out in order to receive your actual List number.

Also Those who are interesting about how the BOSS exam works, Please PM me and I will give you a few information regarding a Prep class that may take place in March.
  2. i think its a good idea to get your cdl permit and try to get your license after that so at least you will have some of experience of driving the bus.but one thing i heard is if you make it to the training don't act like you know more than the instructor because they won't you to learn to drive the bus there way.
Thats facts! Even if you know how to drive a bus, you play dumb and act like you dont know and just follow his/her instruction.Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2

  3.

Good information. I have my CDL B permit with school air brakes passenger since August. I'm also looking to get my license before going to MTA. Looking at schools the cheapet I've found is 600 for a few lessons and the actual road test rental. I work for a shipping company and got accustomed to driving package trucks. Is driving one of those is similar to driving a bus? Also how long does an actual commercial license last? Is it the same as a drivers?
I've found a few driving school my self for the same packaging offers. Trucks and bus might have different turn points. The good thing is you have some sort of experience driving a big vehicle.Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
So you guys are suggesting getting the CDL license before hand? I dont even know where to start....I know NYS DMV has a CDL section on there website, but how would someone learn to drive a bus with an instructor to help....is there a bonified school for stuff like this? Im assuming so.
Yeah theres plenty auto school that offers commercial driving lessons. Just google/Bing in your local area. Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
  4. Any schools on Staten Island that have a bus to practice on all I see here is people practicing on school buses

Thats the original. Learn that first school bus and the mta bys driving skills is different especially on left and right turns. MTA will teach you how to turn with their bus. The school bus is standard learning tool especially for dmv. If you wait for mta instead than mta will let you drive that bus to the road test. But you just have to worry about that DMV instructor examiner

  5. @busman718, I got 2 wrong. How about you? @DueceDrives, I was thinking of getting the license ahead of time too. The thing is, I also keep hearing how the instructors prefer you come in with only the permit (no license) because they want to mold you right. I just don't wanna put anyone off and start off training on the wrong foot. Also, like busman718 said, not sure how to go for training to get license. Like he said, only school buses available, though I guess the bottom line is getting your license in the first place. Back to what I said though, I keep hearing that instructors want you coming in real new/fresh.
Yeah fresh means no work experience with bus or truck company. Remember they are expecting for you to know how to handle a bus. All they doing now is just training you to drive the mta way. DMV has their way on the road vs MTA way. Do you remember when first got behind the wheels when you didnt know how to drive a car yet? So imagine a bus now if you havent actually driven one. My dad said if you have your license already and you qualify on day 7 or 10, You are all set and have no worries. But if you qualify day 7 - 10 and you have tge cdl permit still, Now you have to worry about thst DMV instructor. And if any reason that dmv instructor screw you over because something he/she didnt like during the test, its over and mta will not wait for a retake.Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2

Van someone plrase answer this question if you can. Would u be dq if you havr suspension on your abtract, nothing major but for failure to pay fer n turning in plates late caise insirance cxl?Sorry about spelling typing from phone
Not sure but i doubt that will dq you. I think they focus also on points on your license. but call hr and find out, dont give your name though..lolSent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
  6. Guys I just got my cdl permit too. But no need to wait for mta, get the license on your own. Thats what im doing plus more practice the more comfortable you will be when mta calls you. Remember with the Permit if you qualify on day 7 with MTA, If you still have a permit they will send you to dmv to take the dnv road test. And if you fail the dmv road test on mta watch, you will be let go.Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2

I know that for sure because both my family members is a bus operator for mta for 13 years now.Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2

  7. Does anyone know the process for the boss exam? Do you have to call them about it or do you have to wait on them to send you a notice? And how long the wait for the boss exam? Thank you in advance

You have to wait till they send you a notice. Based on exam 2613, They took it last year in June. So lets see.

  8. Thanks guys. But theres got to be a cutoff interms of how many people they will hire off the list. I dont think the person who scores a 70-80 will will have a shot because the city will just never get to that list number within 4 years. If 30,000 people took and passed the test there is no way the city will go thru all 30,000 applicants...

theres got to be a score/list number cutoff....with that said anyone know how many people applied for 4600?

Alot last exam 2613 maybe 50-60k people took the exam and 3603 only passed I believe. So this list might be a long one for four years

  9. Guys I need opinions on my score for 4600...got 4 wrong with a score of 93.36...is this good enough to make the cut? Opinons would be greatly appreciated

Of course its in. The passing score is 70%. If everything goes well and you pass the Boss exam depending how many people make the final list, You will be call faster than someone whos in the 70-80. So higher score means lower list number. But everyone will be call if you pass its just depends how many actually pass. So just imagine 10,000 people makes the final list. It just mean 10,000 potential canidates. Some wont qualify because they wont have the proper license , criminal records, bad driving records, etc.

  10. Yeah but im not really to worried bout 3101 since my ranfom list for them in the 8ks. Plus i rather 4600 over 3101 due to the fact 4600 is TA which is the agency you rather be in.Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2

I found out, by a friend of mine, that they consolidated MaBSTOA and NYCTA. Same pay, same benefits.Which ever (MTA) agency calls me first, I am not turning down. Give me a bus and I will be in my bliss!!! Lol.

Yeah they same but two thing is different.

    1. Your retirement penstion is different TA is covered by the city of ny.

    2. You are consider a Civil Worker.

  12. When the testing was done under DCAS (Department of Citywide Administrative Services), this is correct. It was from DCAS at the time, but I notice a lot has changed with the process for TA. See what happens.

However, this was NOT the case for exam 2613. After taking the test in January of 2013, we took the BOSS in June 2013. Then the list came out on October 30th, 2013 and they called the first group of people a couple of weeks after that.Has anyone on this form took the BOSS exam in November of 2013 for MaBSTOA? We should be getting a notice in March of this year.

  13. So how many questions can they actually drop? I know question number 2 for Saturday PM didnt make sence according to the time table that was on the booklet.

For the most part everything else was reading comprehensive besides the bus map questions and the 12 codes questions..Anyone want to give their opinion?

  14. Can Anyone on this thread that's on the job tell me about the boss exam

BOSS exam is psychologic test, where they ask the same question more than 4/5 times. The answers are based on strongly agree agree, disagree and etc. Many people fails if their answer are not consistance to the question they ask perhap 3 different times

  15. Just checked my answer not too long ago and I passed! I'm not going to say how many I got wrong, but I already been there and done that. Just keep in mind everyone you only need a 70% to pass and yes the list will be extremely long but also keep in mind they may be a lot of people might not get in for a lot of reasons even if you scored very high. Trust me I know and eventually everybody will get called from the list when your time comes.

    Exactly

  16. I got 3 wrong, 95%. So does anybody have a guest on when they'll start calling people for physical?

We have a long way to get to that next step. First we need a list number which will be giving after you pass boss exam

Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2

  17. @ duecedrives remember the list has an exp date also that is what concerns me hehe

@mastap but first need to pass the boss survey exam first the comes the list number , but it will be long time before the call me my score is 81.7

You will be good. Aftering hearing from some of the guys that got hired from 2613, alot of drivers were in the 20 and plus years in service aiming for retirement. List 2613 is not even a lot so once they finish with 2613 we will carry over. So you should be good. It all depends how many actually passed for the final list
