  1. After you get that letter in the mail, how much time are you given to respond. I know that the smart thing to do is to respond ASAP but the reason why I ask is because I was thinking about taking a little vacation trip and I don't want to miss my window of opportunity if my letter happens to get delivered while I'm away. Depending on the time frame that is given, I may or may not want to take this trip...

I booked my vaca the day before I received the dt letter. I quickly shortened my weekend getaway to 2 days.

  2. Wow you guys going down the road already?! Thats cool..did u get to do 59th st or 77th st? Those r some fast ass stations!!

Nah but one of my classmates did and they flew

into 77th S/B and N/B like the station was endless with no 10 car marker. I was like, "DAYUM!!!" S/B we overran but N/B was good.

  3. Took a 6 light from Pelham Bay Park. Switched North of Atlantic to the New Lots line. I was good when I took over the controls from Bergen to New Lots. On the way back to Pelham, I dumped when I over ran Whitlock by a bonnet and again when I pulled into Parkchester.

Goin 35-40 into those stations isn't unnerving. It's the braking...Feels like there's no brakes when you apply full service then min then all of a sudden the monster stops moving...I'm like...What?!?! hahahahahahahaha. It's the next best thing to roller skating.

  4. Passed my Signal Test.

(No, I will not tell you what is on the test. No, I will not tell you how the test goes. You will find out on your own, just like I did.)

It's hard to believe that 2/3 of Schoolcar is done. Next week we start Road Posting.

    Great Medic!!!

  5. As per our TSS's in school car, only the 3/25 class and all others going forward will get the extra 3 months. They also specified this is a pilot program. I made sure to ask today for affirmation. But, I'm sure, as with anything, it's all subject to change.

  6. The TSS I have spoke to said they didn't know anything after the 3/25 class. They did say that the 3/25 class was going to be a pilot class for extra training. Instead of the normal 1-2 weeks of yard posting (depending on your division) they were going to get 3 months of yard work before coming back to school car for their final practicals.

They expected more classes but wouldn't confirm it.

I wish my class were the one's getting the extra time in the yard. But, thousands have gone before us and become good T/O's and even better TSS's.

  7. Fire School today...that instructor stepped waaaay too close to the 3rd rail. I understand the concept of respecting something that has the potential for doing the undoable and the concept of I've been doing this since blah blah blah...but DAYUM!!!

  8. Went to Moshulu and Concourse Yards today. Having gone to HS to be an aircraft mechanic, I never really thought the process and setting for and in fixing trains would strike me in the same manner. The barns are huge like hangars and it's all still awesome. Track walk. Stepped over a few 3rd rails...which had the whole class on point after that. Switches & signals in class. While we were in CCY, a few R-68's got laid up so we cleared up while they rumbled by. Those trains are massive.

  9. So far just rules, tools, books & don't act like a fool down here.

@ RTOman, when I was in high school what feels like oh so many eons ago, the braking when i was riding 62's on the 4 felt reaaallly smooth. I guess I'm about to find out the Motorman, I mean T/O (hahahaha) has alot to do with that as opposed to the braking system. Enlighten on the subject if you will please...Thanks!

  10. The TSS today told us we would all be good at moving the train. Stopping, however, will be something that requires a little bit of "finesse".

I see, Medic, this holds true. What do the brakes feel like on the R32's, 42's & 68's vs. the 143's & 160's? And what techniques have you developed, so far, in the process of learning to successfully stop those trains?

  11. Sorry for asking but whats the difference between them. I must have missed the explanation of them.

A Div - IRT:1-2-3-4-5-6-7 lines - Mostly out of the Bronx

    B Div - IND/BMT: A B C D E F G J L M N Q R Z lines - Mostly out of Brooklyn
