  1. I've ridden the (J) taking the front window via the R42s after school all week going from Jamaica to Broad. I will also remember the day I first rode them on the (C). The R42s have became my favorite cars right after the R32s and R40s (slants).

Thats exactly the same order I have except I have the R40Ms tied with the R42s.

It will be sad to see the R32s and R42s go.

  2. So let me get in straight. Those (E) Trains are supposed to be express but there's a layup on the express tracks. Why don't they put the layups in the layup yard past 179 St. So do they sometimes actually make it run express?

I've always wondered why the northbound express track descends at 103rd Street on the (A). I see there's a 103rd platform on the upper and lower level both in use.

Is this what you meant? "Each level has one side platform to the west of two tracks. The two express tracks that bypass this station are used by the A train during daytime hours and the D at all times."

"North of this station, the northbound express track descends to allow the northbound local to cross over it, before rising up at 110th Street, where the line becomes the standard four tracks side-by-side with the local tracks on the side and express tracks in the center. Also, the IRT Lenox Avenue Line passes underneath this station at the extreme north end and is not visible from the platforms."

  3. Today as I got off an (E) train on the express track at Kew Gardens across the platform there was a Jamaica 179 St bound Rush Hour (E) express. The time was 6:25 PM. I was wondering why it was on the local track? Perhaps for transfers? I didn't have something to take a picture of it. Before this I haven't seen one before. Thoughts?

  4. With a reactivated (W), they should short turn more (R) trains at Whitehall St. Do you think they should reactivate the <R> service to Chambers?

How about reconnecting the Nassau tracks to the Manhattan Bridge with a new express service over the Sea Beach Line should it be renovated.

  5. (2): Runs from Eastchester-Dyre Avenue to Chambers Street.

(3): Runs from 148th Street to South Ferry, via 7th Avenue Line.

(4): Runs all times to New Lots Avenue, via Brooklyn Local east of Franklin Avenue.

(5): Runs all times from Wakefield-241st Street to Flatbush Avenue, via White Plains Road - Brooklyn Local.

What's the point of switching the (2) and (5)'s  northern terminals. It doesn't make a difference.

  6. Too soon

    6:17 PM

n/b (1), (2) & (3) train service is delayed due to police investigation at 34 St. Allow additional travel time.

    5:12 PM

n/b (N) trains are running on the (D) line from Stillwell Av to 36 St (Bklyn), due to switch problems at Stillwell Av. Allow additional travel time.

    These have since been resolved.

    6:07 PM

    (N) train service has resumed with residual delays.

    6:24 PM

(1), (2) & (3) train service has resumed with residual delays.

    These were by e-mail.

  7. NEXT: Emergency work is needed on the Clark St Tubes (2, 3 tubes) that will take about 4-5 months. No trains can run between Fulton St and Borough Hall at this time. Reroute the (2) and (3).

Cut back (3) to Times Square at all times

(1)(2) via South Ferry loop to Bowling Green where pasengers can transfer to the (4), (5) and (6)

    (6) to Utica Av

    (4) to New Lots Av at all times

    (5) to Flatbush Av at all times

Special (S) shuttle between Hoyt St and Utica Av

Broadway FASTrack (or however you spell it) work will require partial shut down of the line for 3 weeks.

There will be no train service between 57/7 and Canal St (both levels).

Reroute (N)(Q)(R) trains accordingly. This will be during the week as well, not just weekends/late nights.

    -A

P.S. The 57/7 station itself will be open and *can* be used to terminate/turn back trains since there are switches north and south of the station.

    (N) Astoria to 57 St

    (Q) Forest Hills via 6 Av and 53 St to Coney Island

    (J) Extended to Coney Island via Sea Beach, 4 Av express

    (R) City Hall – 95 St

  8. No. Because the (5) runs on abysmal headways during the weekend period. According to the official timetable, the (5) runs at ten to fourteen minute headways. You'll be stuck at the South Ferry inner loop for more then eight or ten minutes actually.

but would you be allowed to go

because I would think it's worth the wait

  9. Can you stay on (5) trains that end at Bowling Green to see the loop like you can on the (6)?

Since people want a (7) extension to NJ and a line to Staten Island.

How about extending the (7) ton hoboken then going to Staten Island with an new wye to the Western North Shore and new west shore line to Tottenvile and a branch to St. George.

Please tell your thoughts on this.

  10. Do you guys think that the (MTA) should extend the (M) to Jamaica 179 St with more service. The (MTA) should also male More (R) trips to Whitehall St and possibly to the lower level of City Hall which they should renovate. I also think the (MTA) should make a third track on the New Lots Line because there is room for one. THe 4 could run express to New Lots.
