  1. Ms. Rivera returned my call this morning, and looked up my information. She put me on hold and returned after some time, stating that she see's my file and there is no need to come in, since my last drug test has been taken last month, and not more than 90 days. I just need to wait for the call.

Originally, on the voicemail she left this morning, she stated "I would have to come in again if it's more than 90 days, and do the drug test if I want to be in the next class on July 27th" :)

Ms Rivera was very helpful, and did not seem annoyed at all. Thank you!

Sounds great man I wish I would have done that. Welcome to the club. It's a great job if you do what you need to do. I have a month left until my first year is in the books and it has been great. It's a lot to learn but if you work hard you will get the job with no problem. You past the first part not you just have to KEEP the job. Also just like with this forum don't be afraid to ask questions. Shoot you can ask me too if I don't know I'm sure I can find out for you. Again welcome to the team!

  2. So I have to re-fill the paper work and hand it in to HR, the urine test, and then go home again and wait for the call? What abot the booklet I was suppose to return once I go thru final processing?

Yup unless they changed it up in the past year you just have to do it all again because they didn't have a spot for you in the last class. Just bring it to there attention and maybe you will get lucky but if it's been more then a month that drug test is expired. Hate to give you that bad news but after the 2nd one I got called in like 3 days. Hope the same for you!

  3. I just received the same letter, asking to report to Livingston Street later this week. It's the same form and process I went through a little over a month ago. Should I call HR?

Nope your first drug test has expired so you have to do the same thing all over again. I had to take 2 drug test before the medical... Most ppl last year had to do it that way

  4. Good news for you guys! I'm sure I don't have to tell you to make sure you have all your stuff in order. It would suck to come this far and get held up over something simple. I seen a few people get held up after waiting all day. Oh get there EARLY!!!

  5. Good to hear you guys started to get letters again. I have one more day of YX and then there will be a lot of free TSSs to have classes. Let me just tell you now get a pair of blue slacks and a blue shirt button down like the conductor wear. Last time I checked there were a lot more ppl retiring then transit was thinking. The more that go out the more come in so keep hoping.

  6. Last week of YX for my class. I happen to see my TSS and he told me that they are getting ready for new classes to come in. So February looks like the bet best for the new class. I know one class just finished road ops two weeks ago and one is done this Friday and my induction class starts on Sunday. So the school car TSS's will be free to start new classes in a few weeks which puts us on track for February for you guys.

  7. Sorry, I don't know the exact number. Only information they give over the phone that is the last list number hired which was 3,137. However, I'm list number 3,40x and already took my laboratory for HR and I'm currently awaiting a call back for my full medical. I hope that information helps.

Thanks my friend is 37-- and he is waiting and waiting

  8. @ RTOMan, that's something to scare people straight.  Getting fired during your probationary period for having a bad attitude and treating people badly.  Losing a career that you've waited 5+ years to start.

On a different note, I wanted to know what shift school car tends to be: day or swing, and what hours specifically.  Has the shift been alternating regularly - Oct. school car is day shift, Nov. school car is swing shift?

I'm asking because my strong preference is a swing shift, for childcare reasons, so I can get my kids on the school bus and only need one person to watch the kids before my wife gets home.  I want this job and I'll make any shift work, and I know I'll work crazy shifts when I'm driving trains in revenue service, but I was wondering if it was possible to delay school car 1-2 months if that allows you to get in when it's scheduled for a swing shift.

School car from what I have seen has only been AM's and PM's. Depends on how many classes are out at one time, what division you in ect. You don't have a choice on what time your classes are. I know when I started there was three nights and one mornings so we wouldn't bump into any of the other classes before us. As far as child care goes you have to have back up for the back ups child care is something transit doesn't care about.

  9. Something happened; a track worker, who's bag of tools feel off the elevated tracks and basically took him with them. They weren't too clear on how badly he was injured. At first it sounded like he died, but then it seemed like he may have just been injured.

Yea that's why you can't cross the tracks with them but we do have back packs we just carry them in out hands when we walk. But there is always something new in transit lol.
