Does anyone know when the next class will start?

They have a bunch of new guys in my yard. Tues I'll see if the have any info on when the next class will be.

What is your list number if you don't mind me asking. My son is in the 40** range, so I'm trying to gauge when he'll get called.

It’s not required but the doctor might make you do it during the medical process(hiring process)

Never heard a doctor making you shave during the medical process, but it is required when you do respirator training every few years. From my understanding you can try to get a medical or religious exemption.

    Hello everyone,

I got an email stating that I passed the initial test phase for the Trackworker position. But I have yet to hear back from them regarding the drug test and the next steps. Is this  normal wait time, has anyone been called for the drug test?

It depends on your list number. If you don't know it, call dcas automated number and get your list number and compare it to the last number hired.

Ah ok lol What about allowances for commute and parking expenses.? I was reading something about transitcheck not sure if its a allowance they give employees or they just take it out from our pay-roll and put into transitcheck

You get an unlimited MetroCard stamped with with either LIRR or Metro North. You can only choose one.

Majority of conductors on either line will honor your pass regardless, but once in a blue you'll run into a prick or someone new that has to follow the rules.

Not sure why you think parking expense is a thing, but it never has been.

The list 100% doesn’t expire in December. The list expires SIX YEARS AFTER THE FIRST PERSON OFF THAT LIST IS CALLED. Not when the test was given or anything like that. They just started calling people 2-3 years so my estimate is the list has a minimum of 2 years left

id assume they just gon freeze like they did before after the next 2 classes till a white hat decides to open the budget for something new which will trigger the hiring process again

but like the guy above me and I said, no one truly knows shit. All you can do is believe half of what you hear and try to figure things out from talking to upper management who truly doesn’t have an idea of what’s going on. Like the guy above said, they hire off the needs of the track. Rn transit wants to modernize everything because were in the technology era, may work in everyone’s favor. The average score of everyone called rn is 90-92. People scoring that low on a city exam and being called back a miracle in itself with the job crisis amongst us

Amen to the quote in bold.

The list expires after four years. The list was established Dec. 17 2014 and expires Dec. 17 2018

This is the information given when you call the DCAS automated line.

I know, at least for the short-term, a.k.a. the next couple of months.

My last comment was in regards to hoping the system gets better, not getting hired. Hopefully they'll continue with the hiring frenzy and you'll be in here in no time. All the best and good luck.

I know I have to wait, however what I'm expecting to happen is for the HR Department to "get their act together" and try to keep it together as far as losing people's paperwork, "screen" errors, clerical errors, communicating with each other, the physician's misdiagnosing certain medical conditions, etc., especially with the "false" letters that most of us got in late September, and when we were expecting to take a drug test, we not only got turned away, but also were told to go back to DCAS to restore our name to the list for an error that was not our fault. Gees...

That's what I'm personally expecting to happen. If not, then, IMHO, incoming President Andy Byford should definitely get involved.

Please stop bumping the thread/topic...just be patient and someone will reply shortly with an accurate response...

    Ok...Don't get your hopes up.

So I went down to Livingston Street earlier this morning. After waiting in line inquiring to check my status, with my list number in the 2800's, they gave me a business card with Ms. Robinson's phone number (347-643-8198) and that was it. I even asked when she was going to be in to try to talk to her in person, and they were unsure about that.

Therefore, the waiting continues, since they also reminded me that I can hear back from them anywhere from 3 to 90 calendar days...

So after calling all day I finally got through to one of Robinson's managers Ms.Riviera who was as sweet as cherry pie.

She explained they're up to list number 2121. Add to that reinstated numbers and I basically may wait a while with list 28xx. Still didn't understand though why the first letter was sent then at all.

They really should do a spring cleaning there and get rid of all the Robinson types who add to stress rather than relieve it and I'm sure it'll get better. Wish i had a general eta. Thanks for the support ahwooo.

Just wondering what was your hiring experience like? Taken exam, score, wait period, hiring process? I took my track exam 7 years ago with 96 score.

I waited 7 months and took several drug test while I waited for the list to go from 990-1000.

You guys are 700 numbers away from the last hire. What exactly are you expecting to happen? Bottom line is you have to wait.

Just to make it easier on your end, @J2wresnwood, the addresses for most of the yards are in the Wikipedia Link. If you don't find it, or if you have trouble, let us know and we'll help you locate a particular location. I'm familiar with most of the train yards, I'm just "rusty" with the Bus Depots.

You can only choose between East NY or E. 180 yard for training. Depending on class seniority, you might not even have a choice.

  10. I like the information you provided, however I have two questions:

    a) What's the purpose of the whistle?

    b) I understand what you said about being on probation, however, isn't the hardest part of probation being on "snow duty"?

    a. Whistle is used for flagging as someone mentioned earlier.

    b. Hardest part of probation is not getting caught up in the bullshit and following the rules. Not sure what snow duty would have to do with it.

    Good info. Thanks dp.

Question for those in the 9/11 class (or feel free to answer if you know), will you guys get a check on 9/21 or do you have to wait till 10/5? I know some places take time with their payroll and you might have to wait a full cycle to get the first paycheck.

The pay period is Sun-Sat. They'll get a check on the 21st for  5 days.

  11. Ok so apparently they are gonna try to hire 500 track workers by the end of the year. They are gonna try and make the training shorter from 6 weeks down to 4 weeks. I can't speak for Bronx but if you pick Brooklyn for your training location you're gonna be digging out ties for the most part. Later tonight I'm gonna post specialist job titles and they're requirements to do them. When you pick your spot for your "x" job ask your supervisor for training for a dual rate. If they procrastinate go ask the superintendent. I also have a list of how the pick is done by seniority to give you an idea of what it's gonna be like. There's Around 2000 track workers in the system after our class but our seniority numbers are gonna move up as more people retire.

Lofty goals. They would have to average 125 track worker per month. Better for me if true. It would mean more jobs on the board when the general pick comes along.

You might do some random task here and there, but all training pretty much consist of digging out ballast and ties.

That's not how dual rate works. You have to pick/bid into a dual rate position to get training in that title.

  12. There's gonna be another class in August. I'm most likely gonna be in that one if enough people fail or refuse. Looking in mail everyday for letter for 2nd drug test. List #107x

I heard about the August class yesterday and forgot to post about it here.

That class more then likely will be filled from those that were put on medical hold from last call.... Turtle pace with this list.... Looks like 2018 for me because I haven't even don't my second urine #111*

It's close. depending on the class size, you might make it in. Best of luck.

  13. Congrats!!

Yes please do. Share your experiences good and or bad. All is a learning progress! Good luck to you!

Thanks and best of luck to you guys getting in as well!

I made it into the may 8 class list number 103*

    Congrats!

Congrats...How the heck did so many people below your # not make it in.... They went from 944-103# wow wonder if alot of people were disqualified with dirty urine or turned down the position. The next class whenever that happens will be taken up by medical holds probably....

Going back from the start they've been averaging 75-100 list numbers per class, depending on class size.

Had the first day of orientation yesterday. Whole day of forms, rules, and regulations. I would say about 15-20 were there for track.

One thing I would like to share is if you have a criminal record, do not lie about it. I don't know the qualification criteria is for having a criminal record, but it is not an automatic disqualifier unless you lie. I have an old felony(old enough to drink) and I'm in.

  14. Congrats!! also I just went to the Dr's office few days ago with exactly you you said in mind.. My blood pressure is a little high but its being monitored...Says she may put me on pills but I don't like that idea and having to disclose too MTA that I'm on meds... So I'm watching my diet as best I could.. Also keeping an eye on blood sugar...Haven't gotten results yet....

    Thanks riello2u!

I would try my best to do it naturally as well. I cleaned up my diet as well. Vegetarian nine months ago(personal reasons), kept my sugar intake below 40 grams a day, and exercised 3 times a week.

  15. So i heard from a friend who knows the director of the track department and he says they are up to 980 and they are having another class soon that will have about 20 people. He cant give me a projection on classes beyond that but they are still calling.  List#107x

My list number is in the 99* and I made it in the upcoming class. I'll keep you guys posted on the amount of people in the class.

Saw a few guys get put on medical hold. If you are unsure if you'll pass a certain test and you can afford to do so, get tested ahead of time to see where you stand.

  16. Called in Monday and was told they are somewhere in the 990's and are close to the 1000's.

Sent from my LG-D851 using Tapatalk

I'm in that number range, but haven't received anything yet. I'll keep ya'll posted.

I heard there was a class coming up in the next few weeks.

  17. What's good everyone, I just received the email to go in and see Mrs. Robinson, unfortunately I can't make it tomorrow. Does anyone know what's going to happen to me due to me not being able to go in?

If it's coming from her personal work email I would reply to the email and do as riello2u suggested.

What range is your list number?

  18. Stay in there bro... Don't loose hope.. Keep checking and hopefully we can get better updates from fellow forum participants...

I must admit this class snuck up out of nowhere and from following this forum no one has mentioned getting through medical and getting sworn in for it...

Thanks bro! It's just frustrating being in limbo.

I was combing through the 2016 post and it seems like there was a class Feb, Mar, and April. Not that it really means anything, just trying to find a little solice in light of this new information.
