  1. Got approved in the FB group rails & spikes 4 life... Somewhat informative info on there..You get a different perspective of track work from guys already on the job.... I would recommend, if approved reviewing info from here and the FB group to help answer questions people just joining this thread may currently have... #111*

  2. + 1 for this as well, sorry Kunderwood but like others I'm not repeating myself either. All the info you need is in this thread. Literally every topic and concern is covered.

As far as your list number I would say realistically 50/50 shot at being called. The list expires December 17th 2018, they are up to 944 as the last appointed list number. Which I would assume they could up to the high 1000's or low 1100's for medical. If the list gets extended which most do your chances of getting called for processing increases. I know off of the last exam 5016, the last appointed was in the low 2000's, I actually work with a guy who was one of the last to be appointed off of the 5016 exam.

Seems like it froze after 944...No one has updated been contacted with 945+ by email for medical .......List #111*

  3. Much appreciated Young and anonymous individuals for the info. Being a college student again and currently unemployed is tough. I'm hoping I can make it in. Would like to have a job that guarantees pay increase. Also, do Mta workers receive discounts on Metrocards?

MTA gives employees metro passes..so your travels to and from work are free...

  4. So a member of the site, who wishes to remain anonymous, sent me the following update:

"the current track worker class is in the upper 800's to lower 900's & the instructors are saying that they are going to have 3 more classes coming up in DEC,JAN,FEB, at 40 students per class cause the MTA wants to get to about 2200 track workers soon. right now they are at 1948."

DISCLAIMER: My list number for this exam is in the 2800's, so I still have a ways to go before they call me for this position.

And also that number they need at the moment will adjust as months go by as people retire and or get promoted to other positions... Took a Urine on Oct 7th so hopefully with they get me in again before Jan 7th for medical #111* Anyone one in that 900-1100 range please update when you get that email..Thank for the info

  5. Hey everyone hope you're doing well. I called Mrs Robinson today to ask about classes and such. The last person to be hired by the MTA for track worker is list# 944. There less than 150 people ahead of me. I tried to ask when the next class would be or how many more classes there would be this year but they do not tell her that. For us 10xx`s and 11xx`s im banking on early 2017. Were probably gonna have to take another urine test and hopefully theyll call us soon after that for the medical. List#10xx

Great stuff man!! #11** ..Quick question anyone here went in on Oct 7th for urine..There was 3 of us in a room waiting to be called and started a convoy on track...It was also towards to later part of the day around 12:00.. Just curious

Hopefully Late January things will kick up again

  6. The drug (urine) test is for 30 calendar days; the medical examination is for 90 days.

There a lot of mixed info on that...I asked the same question on the forum a several days ago....

Capital nights when u went back to re do the second pre employment did u do the final medical that same day as well?

I am applying for conductor and got a letter for a second pre employment and I am trying to figure out if that is for a second urine test or the medical/final processing. And doesn't the urine test last for 90 days?

So should I expect them to contact me before the 30 days are up on my first urine taken Oct 7th???

  7. Thank you everyone for elaborating on my questions and posting the pictures of this so called structure. Ill worry about it when I have to. I have heard the odds are pretty good that ill be on overnights in maintenance where they never work on elevated structures, so we will see. Anyways, I go in to tomorrow for medical and final processing. This will be my 2nd medical, unless of course I go in and just go straight to final processing if my other medical is still valid. There was some confusion about it when I asked because I was called for medical in mid July which means by the 90 rule my medical would be expired by the start of the next class, however it was august when I finally made it in with my doctors note and was cleared and the people I asked were not sure what date they would go by. Regardless I have all my paperwork from last time and a brand new note from my doctor that I picked up today so there are no issues when the same EKG abnormality comes up tomorrow. So here is to a long ass day at Livingston tomorrow, Ill keep you guys posted on whatever I hear/see.

So labs (First urine test) last 30 days and Medicals last 90??

  8. hey Riello2u thanks for your reply, I remember your earlier post also so happy for you at least you got the ball rolling... I have not been called in for labs or anything else for that matter should I be concerned... I know I am on outstanding cert.. I think on my next day off I'm heading out to Livingston... Good luck riello2u....

Our numbers are so close... Don't be worried but rather be patient... MTA is so random hard to put a timeline on when they will get to you... But let's just say your next in the wave of candidates to be contacted by mail....check that mail box daily

  9. Hi Aspiring Track Worker, one of your post from August 2016 you felt as tho you were not getting called in this year, when I read your post I felt if he's not getting in and my number is higher than his I won't get called either, but fast forward to October 2016 and so happy to hear you got called in... so I guess I still have a shot...my # is in the 117#,, do you guys think they I have a shot for this year, or next yr I'm hopeful.. Happy for all you guys that have gotten in so far... Best of Luck to you all.....

I would say 2017 and I'm #111*. Went in last Friday for my first lab. Oct 31 may be the last class for 2016, so I anticipate early 2017 will pick up again.

  10. If I recall the social security printout for everywhere I ever worked beyond 10 years was around $125.00. But as others have stated all they need is the month and year. But leave no gaps in your history. If you did not work you must put how you supported yourself, whether it was unemployment insurance, living at home being supported by family etc. As far as self employment, if you filed taxes on that income you can put it down as well. But you have to account for every month going all of the way back to high school. My 21 page packet was over 35 pages when it was all said and done.

I looking like 45 pages when completed up to 41 now and still have 4 more employers to go dating back to 1991...lol This is crazieness

  11. Just an idea for those folks going down there:

Back in late 2013, what I did was I took a couple of extra pages intentionally, and if I needed more pages, I purposely left one sheet blank and just found the nearest copy machine...it's just an idea to save you the commute to 180 Livingston Street and back...

I had my wife make copies left one blank....lol
