  1. Patience grasshopper .. in the mean time wax on and wax off The 4/25 class already out of school .. I met one of them on the tracks here in the Bronx. He wasn't sure if there was another class behind him but I am sure there is .. Hang in there
  2. There was a lot of talk in regards to what specialist base pay is in regards to Track Workers. Taylor ( the one who came back and was in our class) was saying it was saying top for track specialist positions was 32 and I was telling him that their base pay is our top pay and they max out at around 36 or 37. If you see him show him this chart so he understands what I am saying because he as adamant about it and I was just shaking my head like .. Nah bro .. you got it confused.
  3. You have any idea when openings or bids will be up for Third rail ?
  4. Had my first day on the structure today and man o man that was nerve racking. Got used to walking on the fiber glass, even though at times got a little nervous when I felt it give a little but after a while I was fine. It's actually walking on the Ties that really gets you jumpy as when some spots the spaces are bigger than others. Had a few moments when I wasn't sure of my footing but just go at your own pace and everything will be fine. Did a few clips up there as well. Again it's not so much the work as it is getting your feet stable enough to really get a good swing. lol So far so good though .. Good to hear everything going good in capital Steve. Thinking I should have taken that E180th position when I had the chance lol
  5. I got maintenance job at East Tremont.in the bronx, which is perfect because I lived in the BX as well. A lot of day jobs for our picks. Tremont was one of those. However not sure how long it will last before we pick for permanent positions. Had a few capital jobs in the Bronx as well.
  6. Just a heads up to anyone with nice full beards who enjoy grooming their beards etc and maintaining it. There will come a time when you will need to go to respirator training and you will need to cut that growth on your face. I had a nice bush growing on mine and now its all gone. Butt Face in full effect So enjoy it while you can for now and just prepare yourself for the inevitable.
  7. Which then kinda makes sense why my seniority number was second to last. I just hope when we get to pick I can choose the BX because this bx-bk for training is rough with the time I have to get up in the mornings to make it there on time. Also to add to what Steve is saying, there are a ton of people retiring .. like seriously we met a bunch of people who were heading out or planning to retire this year so spots will be there just keep your eyes open and watch for that letter or email.
  8. In the 3/28 class and first week of school was good. Lot of information in regards to time/sick time/vacation time/personal time etc. A lot of safety info and general info about the job. Also gets you into the habit of signing that attendance and payroll sheet. Suppose to have our pick sometime next week. Fingers crossed hoping I can get E180th because I stay by wakefield in the BX and that ride out to the school and get their by 7 is crazy. So far so good though
  9. So first day of orientation is tomorrow. Quick question for those who went through the process. Jeans and a button up fine or office dress code for orientation ?
  10. I don't think there are any true set schedules. You work per the need of the Authority. However to my understanding new workers will probably be doing overnight and every holiday there is. Kiss those weekends goodbye. However days off will be back to back and not staggered.
  11. No I was 519 so they are slowly working their way down. You can call to follow up though
  12. So got my email to come down for processing Friday and everything went good. List number 500-520 Passed all medical and got sworn in for the March 28th class. Got there around 7am and didn't leave till 3:15pm. It's def a all day process so bring lunch. I made the mistake of just drinking orange juice in the morning and by 12 I'm starving but didn't want to leave in case I missed my name being called for anything. As someone posted earlier .. Once you get there you get your number and they collect a few documents then you go behind the blue wall and wait for them to call you. You will go to computer and answer a ton of med questions about health and also respirators (found that one odd). Once done docs will call you into another waiting room to start the test. Hearing test was first (standard press button everytime you hear a sound. Recommend you listen to no music or headphones on the day so as to not mess with your test.) After done back to waiting room to wait for next test After hearing went and did pee test for blood in urine, excess sugar etc. That was quick .. then back to waiting room. Next up was EKG Then after that you do a lung capacity test. Once you do all that you go back to outside to the main waiting area and wait for doc to call you to do the standard rundown. Squat Touch your toes Walk to the wall on your tippy toes Walk backwards on your heels Rotate your arms in 360 circle back and forth Stethoscope, cough ..deep breath etc Once you pass that back to the main waiting area where you submit your docs and wait to be called for interview. Get sworn in. Once that is done, if everything goes good, send you to get your pic taken for badge Fingerprints Home. Thanks to everyone who initially told me to go down there and sort stuff out when I got my letter a week late because they sent it to the wrong address. My one question is that on the green paper they give you with instructions on where to show up for training on the third day I am reporting to BK and it says wear good solid shoes (preferably work shoes) until NYCT provides required work shoes. So wear office shoes until I get boots ?
  13. Congrats Steve .. best of luck man .. This was like what 2 weeks since you went back in for drug test right ? Keeping my eye on my email since they in the 490's .. When you finish medical let us know the full rundown of what they had you do. Congrats to everyone else who passed and got in
  14. Damn 40 hours in two days .. that's crazy .. so they have somewhere where you can shower and sleep or just no shower .. just sleep and get back after a few hours
  15. So just an update, was able to go down there today and explain the situation. Submitted my docs and did the drug test and just waiting for email for medical. As stated if you move or need to update your info you gotta do it through DCAS. 16. Yeah going in tomorrow to hopefully straighten it all out. Just hope they don't hold the time that has passed against me even though not my fault. Wanted to go in today but too short notice in regards to taking time from my current job.
  17. Will do and report back .. hopefully they let me come down and sort this out
  18. So checked my mail today and got the letter, however they sent it to my old address ( I updated it via fax and email with them to my new address and yet they sent it to the old one. Was supposed to have been there on the 21st and just now getting it and it shows it was mailed out on the 15th. Is my best bet calling to see if I can come in maybe Friday and do my paperwork .. I have the booklet here from the last time I was down there filled out and all. WHo do i call .. what number ? Pissed off right now ..SMDH
  19. Just following up on this thread ... My drug test expired in December and I know I have to go back down and redo it again. Question is how will they reach out to us? By phone call or will it be by letter again ? Also has anyone from that September 28th drug test class gotten called back down to re-do the test yet ? Thanks in advance
  20. Looks like I will have to redo the drug test since I initially did it in September and from what I read it only last for 3 months. Still got the booklet they gave me to update and fill out here as well. Hoping that call comes in January
  21. Anyone called back for medical from the group that did drug test on 9/28?
  22. So what is rule 4.7.1 ? Failed background check ? Okay never mind, read up on your history you posted before .. Sorry man that sucks
  23. I was 519 Yeah I was in that same class, yeah I was reading someone said there was a 10/26 class so I was thinking that class but you're right more likely a December of January Class
  24. No call back for medical yet .. I am thinking it might come some time next week. Been trying to eat a bit healthier etc so fingers crossed. Finishing up that 21 booklet .. Thanks for all the great info on this board
