  1. At least you guys have something to wait for, I'm still waiting to be called for an orientation
  2. Congratulations and good luck this week. Can't say I'm not a little bit (a lot) jealous. You'll be crazy busy, but check in on us here every now and then.
  3. Congratulations, D! Well deserved! Can you stay in your current position or did you have to give notice? I'm still hoping they're not done hiring for now.
  4. I hope you get the call, D. How do you think the panel went? What was it like?
  5. Good luck on your test tomorrow. Just curious, when did you submit your resume?

  7. Glad to hear it. I applied again for position through the latest post that closed yesterday. We'll see.
  8. I am sooooo glad to hear that. I've always known I wanted to be an engineer. I sent my first resume to the LIRR at 14 years old. Their first response to me was a typed letter telling me to reapply when I turned 18. At 18, I reapplied and got a post card in the mail saying they received my resume. Never got an interview. I continued to send my resume monthly. At one point in my 20's, I was so desperate for an interview that I tried buying lunch for the employment office. At the time, the office was in a building down the street from Jamaica station. There was little security and you could walk in the building easily. I had no idea how many people worked in the employment office,so I showed up at the office with five pizza pies and my resume attached to the top box. When I walked into the office, I was mortified. There were TWO people working in there! I was so embarrassed, I delivered the pies and resume and left without pitching myself. Never heard from them. Another time I sent flowers to the office and had the florist attach my resume. No response. Eventually, they moved to the current office and started using the DSC portal. I now send my resume regularly, whether they post the position or not. Now in my 40's, I was starting to think I was getting too old to be accepted. At least I know now I still have some time left.
  9. What age are they mostly hiring new trainees at? I recall someone saying that one class had a mixture of applicants in mostly their 30s and 40s.
  10. I'm older than you think. I agree that automation is inevitable, but that is many many years away. LIRR is no AirTrain.
  11. How many years did you have in? Do you think PTC will take away from the craft?
  12. Thunderpants, are you in the training program or are you an engineer?
  13. So, this was your second time applying for Engineer? Is is the second application that you're referring to when you say you weren't called backup after the panel?
  14. Did you apply for the LET position again after that or did you stop applying for it after you didn't pass the panel the first time?
  15. That's great news, drenyce! Congratulations! I was actually thinking about you taking the test today. How many people showed up? Did they tell you anything after it was over?
  16. Thanks so much for the information, drenyce! I know there were also orientations in August and October of last year. Hopefully they're not done hiring for now. Best of luck tomorrow! Can't wait to hear about Phase 1.
  17. I'm still waiting to be called in...and waiting..and waiting. I'm hoping they're not done hiring for now, but the fact that they're running S&D classes now leads me to believe that they are. Best of luck to both of you this Friday (drenyce) and in May (Miguel).
  18. Congratulations, Migeul! I'm still waiting for a first interview.
