  1. That video was after hurricane sandy. Even then, the MTA realized that the R32s were not operating well on the (H) since there had to be 2 operators for the line so shortly after, the R32s were taken away and replaced by the full width cab R46s.

Anything before hurricane sandy shows 10 car sets on the (S).

yeah I know that was just to show you that the R32s can operate in OPTO service if T/Os really understand how to operate the train the just go to the front and back of the train to operate it without the full width cabs how do you think they operated the R32s on the Franklin (S)
  2. That was during a few summers ago and even then, the (S) had 10 har sets because of the crowds for the beaches.

they did have 4 car sets on the (S) when they were replacing the R44 and when the R46s were going through SMS there are plenty of videos on it.

    Look at this video

  3. Dude, did you even read my post above yours? I'll say this again...If the 32s, 38s, 40s, and 42s run as 4-cars, 6-cars, 8-cars or 10-cars, the C/R controls are only located in the middle (32s and 38s) or the blind faces (40s and 42s). For both the front and ends of a 32 or a 38, (if running as 4-cars, 6-cars, 8-cars, or 10-cars), it's only T/O controls. And for the non-blind faces of the 40s and 42s, however, it's also only T/O controls. Almost all other cars today (except for the single sets in the 62A fleet) are in "proper" sets (with full-width cabs as trainfan22 stated) and therefore, both the front, end and middle, where they have controls for the T/O and also, for the C/R, which means One Person Train Operation service via short trains if necessary.

If you really want to make your own ideas about the subway system here in New York City, then post any of your own ideas in the Proposal Thread. I really don't understand why you keep on continuing this conversation about wanting the 32s to go on the weekend four-car (M) (or the regular full line or whatever)...this has been beaten to death many, many times already...

I'm not continuing this conversation about the R32s going to the (M) its just a really interesting topic look I'm a guy who likes to let people know about his opinions even the other rail fanner in this thread keep on dragging on about this I'm a rail fanner who likes to share his thoughts and say what I think
  4. Not only that but they fail to realize the reason they don't run on the (M) because of weekend OPTO service and if the R32s gets stuck in that section, it will screw service up.

they can run R32s in OPTO service on weekends on the (M) its on four cars and the line is short this way on weekends you can put the R160s from the (M) on the (J) and throw some R160s to stay on the (C) permentaly
  5. Yep I may have been late with this but this is what I was trying to say here. The (M) can't see R32s because of OPTO and for the "air" needed for them.

yeah the (M) ridership has been growing like crazy ever since it has been rerouted so it's getting to a point where it needs some high performing subway cars the MTA even called for an extension of the (M) last year
  6. True that, but I seriously doubt that R32s would even run on the (M) because of the amount of work needed to be done on R32s.

If it wasn't for the R32s being 50 years old, I would say it isn't impossible, but the R179s are likely gonna arrive this year, killing the last of the R42s and some of the R32s.

But that's enough from me. Carry on.

I'm just saying it would be nice to see an R32 on queens blvd line again before they make queens blvd line CBTC
  7. I'll say it again:

And if the R32s are getting retired, what's the point of making more signs for them?

they can use the original brown (M) logo for the R32s they can just throw it on there look at the R143 that ran on the (M) they had the (L) strip map inside the train and people still knew it was the (M) train
  8. Why are you making a big deal about it? It's just a train, not a human being. So what if the (J) is a full-time line? And so what if the R32s are the oldest cars in the system? The (J) is generally mixed of R32s, R42s, and R160s. The train crews don't always get the same train everyday. Plus, every line in the system has spare trains. It also depends on the scheduled wait times and the amount of trainsets running as well as the total amount trainsets each line has as a whole. I recommend that you should study these things like I always do, before jumping to conclusions. The R32s and R42s can't run on the weekend (M) because they can't provide OPTO.

The R46s are the second oldest cars in the system (not counting the R42s), yet provide full-time service on the system's longest subway line - the (A). Nobody cares because it's just a train. A train is a train. I've learn that the hard way. No need to worry about it.

I'm not making a big deal about it and I'm not saying that the R32s can't handle the (J) I'm just saying out of all the east new york yard routes the (J) gets treated like a part time line I'm on an R42 (J) the other day we get to myrtle ave bway first and the (M) comes a couple minutes late and gets to leave first why?
  9. Of course the MTA can run them on the (M). They just have to prep them up for (M) service. The real question is: will they? - and the answer to that, as some posters have pointed out already, is no. They are over 50 years old, and the MTA is making the move to replace the entire fleet. They have already put some money into extending their life until their replacement arrives, and they are not going to spend more money to add new rollsign text when that money could be used for more important things, such as fixing up old/vandalized signs in stations/station entrances. It's just a waste of money. If you have an old Playstation that is occasionally breaking down and you coughed up enough money to replace it with a Playstation 4, are you going to spruce up your old Playstation when money is hard to come by? It's the same concept here. You might argue that the cost is very small but it is still something the MTA has to pay for, and the cost will add up since the MTA is dealing with a lot of equipment as opposed to just one car.

That does make sense I'm just wondering why do they only go to the (J) you can't treat the (J) like it's a part time line you have to put sum R32s on at least the (M) shuttle at night so they can get some rest
  10. Like I said above, R32s can't be used on the (M) and (L) for reasons pointed out. And even if the (J) and (Z) become 100% R32s and R42s, there would still be leftover R32s on the (C).

I know why they can't be used on the (L) but why not the (M) they can create an orange (M) bullet and have the R32s run late at midnight as the (M) shuttle or off peak hours
  11. [quo.100%e=%train fan22" pos should takt="832831" timestamp="1432325684]

I always wonder why they never make the (C) a 100 percent 160 during these summer swaps, I'm sure they could send 18 sets of 160s to the (C) without dipping into the (L) & (M) line fleets.

yeah I agree during the summer they should make the (C) fleet entirely R160s they should take some sets from the (M) and put some R32s on that line you can't put the R32s on the (L) since it is already CBTC
  12. atleast 1 set of R32's run on the (J) all day during the week, its not always on the (Z), one day 2 sets can run all day, one day 1 set could run all day while one is a put in, sometimes both sets will run on the (Z), its a cycle, on most weekends they'll run a set or two and sometimes they keep both sets in the yard, so basiclly it comes out at random

now i wouldn't be surprised after this summer, the (C) would keep some R160's, im hearing they might keep most (Im hoping that doesn't happen) its better to be 50/50

why? The R32s breakdown the most on the (C). Why would they keep the m on the (C) because they want to 207 st yard probably wants as much R160s as they can get for the (C)
  13. If 207th Street are finally able to maintain the 160s, fine. If they still can't, then I don't see why should they still pay the train crews to switch both the 32s and the 160s back and fourth to/from their respective shops that are capable of servicing them (therefore, increasing or decreasing the (C)(J) swap left and right). The only good thing is that it's an 8 car for 8 car swap and the (J) is mostly outdoors.

We been through this enough already.

207 st yard will maintain thir R160s better than their R32s since the R160s are newer and the R r32 on the (J)/(Z) will run with at least some decency
  14. It's worth mentioning that ENY has more trains (R42, R143 and R160) than 207th (which maintains the R32). I don't know where you're getting your sources about the breakdowns and deferred maintenance from, but I hope you're not simply just basing it on the way you're riding the train. I also hope someone else can provide more info instead, at least someone who knows what goes on at either barn and actually works there at the same time. That'll be alot better for me IMO. Of course, as everyone already knows, the R32s can only do around 50,000 miles (which is their current average distance) without breaking down.

the R32s are well maintained in east new yard IMO east new york yard is one the best yards we have out there even their R42s run pretty decently
  15. Hes a troll

    Back to the topic:

This year we may see permenant changes, but its just a rumor for now, The (C) riders are constanly bicthing about both the R32's and the shitty service ( I can understand the service part) and they have this rider alliance group who keeps on bringing up fight for a better (C) train on facebook (it tends to be annoying)

as for the swap, the rumor is 48-52 R32's to go to ENY permanetly for 48-52 R160's, but as i stated its JUST A RUMOR thats been going around by ta sources, if this infact true, its because of the BS politics and political clout, but IMO it would make sense, the two R32 sets on the (J) don't breakdown as offten as the ones on the (C), if this were to take place it would mostlikely take place after the summer swap is over

to add on to what I said those two sets of R32s on the J might go back to 207 st yard after the summer swap due to the C train needing extra trains alongg with a set of R160s

not trolling I'm serious I know the two car numbers of the sets ( i remember riding those two sets on the F) I agree with you there this can most likely take place after the summer swap is over
