  1. Done with Day 0. Training starts tomorrow at Flatbush with Supt. Gray. Anyone familiar with him/her?

I had gray. She is wonderful. Not being sarcastic either. She was the best and I am telling you this as the only one out of the 4 students on her bus days 1-7 who did not qualify. That was not her fault at all, as I totally screwed up day 6 which means I was ineligbale to qualify on 7. Wound up qualifying on the next eligible qualifying day which was 9. She is fantastic, you got lucky.

  2. On a side note I strongly advise anyone who is close to getting called to get their cdl before hand. Most people wind up passing the DMV road test after the mta training but there are some that don't and sometimes they make u requalify for mta if u fail the DMV road test. That is not stress you want to deal with. Getting thru the mta training is very stressful, don't add more to it, get your cdl before hand. If you can't afford it ask a family memeber or close friend to burrow their credit card and just pay them back every month and then take them to a nice dinner for helping you out. Trust me get the cdl before hand.

There was a girl on my training bus, she qualified for the mta day 7, the earliest day possible.... she wound up failing both of her DMV road tests and was forced to resign from the mta. Trust me get the cdl ahead of time, I can not stress this enough.

  3. I've had a few classmates tell me line training is 6 weeks in Staten Island and 4 weeks in the other boroughs. Can anyone confirm this?

That is correct. States island is longer due to the fact they make you line train in all their depots. In the other boroughs you only line train in the one depot you pick or get assigned to.

Yes. I've heard I get 2 chances since I did it in 9 days? The recent days i should be able to do it.

When my Supt. told me to secure the bus and walked out the bus, made a call and turned to me and said, "welcome to the family, you've qualified", I broke down with joy and happiness , the cloud over me has broken and my life can come full swing. Anyone can pm me details of the test or is it staight foward? Pre trip, ALSAPS, THEN drive? Calling over passes, hazards etc

Isaelperez who did you have for training days 1-7?

  4. If you get a chance to pick, it's on GI Day. By seniority, you need to pick there right away from the options they give you.

I was last seriority in my class, and once everything else was taken, 2 of us defaulted to what was left automatically. Honestly be glad if you at least have a choice to pick. Some classes weren't given the option to pick. Which did u pick????

Sorry to hear that. I've been hearing and seeing lots of people with issues when they get called to be seen. Honestly I never thought I would be called in so quickly. NOV 3 was pre employment. NOV 9 was medical, finger printing and paperwork. Next November 14 training! This is all happening so fast, and I'm not looking forward to resigning in such a short time with little notice. Something that could have been handled differently. People are leaving jobs with years put in, my experience is 3. Bittersweet if you ask me. But I know this is what needs to be done in order to progress. Ironically the Depot I'm thinking of would be close toy old job, heinsight.

    WHich depot is that?

  6. Depends if your ta

Or mta bus. If your ta queens village Mta bus i believe the closest one to Nassau border would probably be JFK or laguardia depot. I am hoping to get into queeens village as I have a transfer pending for queens. Just need to wait for something to open up.

  7. I went to day 9. No big deal. Remember the 4 feet of space. Very important. ride the yellow lines and on white lines roads have the drivers seat in the lane next to you, yes basically taking up 2 lanes. If u do that you won't get too close to the parked cars.... When you are making the turns make sure u have 4 feet of space as well if not you will hit the curb. Everything is so much easier with space.
