  1. Well, given that about 30K people took this test, I could see why they would implement the OPA as a pass/fail test. They have to begin thinning out the process in phases. I believe that for most of us the OPA will be the most difficult part since it involves retaining memory. To all others good luck. I’m not expecting a notice until sometime next year based on my score and the number of applicants.
  2. Forgot who posted this but here you go http://www.twulocal100.org/sites/twulocal100.org/files/pay_rates_by_title_2017-2019.pdf
  3. Can I ask you an honest question? Do you suffer from anxiety? The reason I ask is that being a conductor requires you to interact with all types of people on a daily basis face to face. If you can’t handle having an instructor speak to you directly without getting nervous I just don’t see how you’d survive being a conductor for more than a year, having people yelling at you every time trains are delayed for whatever reason. Or god forbid dealing with an emergency or a sick person on the train, all highly stressful environments.
  4. The OPA test is not by alphabetical order. That we can tell by the responses on this very thread. The official list is based on your score. The OPA is the second phase of the exam, which has nothing to do nor does it affect your score. It’s a process of elimination with the OPA pass/fail. If you fail that you’re eliminated regardless if you have 100% score. I can see now why notices for the OPA would go out prior to the official list. It’s safe to assume that those that got over 90% will either get a notice to report to the second phase (OPA) test first or will get their official results with list # first depending on the wait. I have a feeling that the OPA will be the second phase of elimination, and then finally your medical/drug/background check will be the 3rd phase of elimination. Once you pass all 3 phases the last phase is actually training and going to school car class which is around six weeks I believe. If you fail from that, which essentially is the final phase, you’re out. Hope that helps.
  5. This. The same was said when we took our tests. As long as it’s silent or off and you’re not messing around with your phone you should be fine.
  6. Haven’t checked in a while but I see that things are moving along. That’s great news a d congrats to those who’ve gotten their notices to report. On a side note thank you to the person who posted our scores a few threads back!! To others who haven’t received a notice and have 1-3 answers wrong, remember that the official list hasn’t even been established yet so be patient. I myself scored a 92.XX so I’m not expecting anything until next year. Of course that’s all based on what the final official score is, which I guess I’ll find out sooner or later. Good luck to those reporting on Monday and let us know how it goes.
  7. So basically people are still getting called from exam 8094 that happened 9 years ago, awesome. Maybe by the time 2020 comes around they might start calling people from 6601. Smh.
  8. I was just about to fork over the $82 fee till I read the NOE and it states I need a valid NYS DL, but further down it says that being a New York State resident isn't required? Makes no sense. I took the #6601 and was planning to take this one as well, I live in NJ with an NJ DL but the NYS DL requirement disqualifies me, although I don't have to be a NYS resident to apply. lol oh well.
  9. . Congrats man, what a journey. It's refreshing to see how quick things started moving for you in such a short period of time. Nothing like the corporate office world where your only hopes of moving up the ladder is if someone dies or gets fired. (I don't wish death on anyone but you know what I mean). Thank you for your insight. I plan on filing for the T/O exam as well.
  10. So wait, you passed down on the conductor, I take it you took the promotional T/O? When did you cross over from BO to TO? I have a friend as well that took the 8094, he got called up in Dec 2012, good to say he got promoted to T/O at some point towards the end of 2014. Thank you for your words of encouragement. It's crazy you mention that, LIRR had filings in Jan of this year for conductor. You must have missed it. The requirements are a bit different than MTA, but nothing crazy.
  11. Ren, no offense but I think you're over analyzing everything. And this is coming from a person who has the same score as you. Let's just wait until the official list is established and notices are sent out and take it from there. From now until then it's all speculation that you're trying to make sense of, stressing yourself out in the process.
  12. That's a decision you'd have to make. As far as moving, as long as you update your mailing address with the MTA you should be fine, since being a NY state resident is not a requirement. How much time is your employer giving you to decide? Keep in mind that the list for the last conductor exam expires in Feb. of 2017, just to give you an idea. Tough decision but if you're willing to drop everything once you're called I'd personally take advantage of that promo for the time being.
  13. Are you asking or telling us? The answers have been out for close to 2 weeks already.
  14. Promotional gets first dibs. I think the promotional exams were administered back in January.
  15. That's a good question, I think you can or maybe they let you write them down. I know that on the back of your answer sheet, I believe they give you a 30 day grace period after your protest date to submit your case in writing which you can mail in. I don't have the sheet in front me so I could be wrong. I'm not sure if they'll actually let you take the booklet with you though.
  16. I don't think it's fair to compare this test to the last conductor test. Based on the feedback on here prior to taking the test, what we got was something completely different. For starters not a single math question was asked, so bringing a calculator was irrelevant. I didn't take the last test so I cannot compare, but I'm pretty sure they switched things around this year. I'm also pretty sure that not many people will score as high as the previous conductor test. If the poll we have here gives us any Insight it's one of two things. 1). Many people got 2-4 answers wrong and 2) many others got 7+ wrong. The only others that could get a higher score are those with credits or those already inside taking the promotional. I still have a slight hope but I'm already looking at the T/O filing date.
  17. On the yellow sheet with your answers you wrote down, it should have the protest session date printed on it.
  18. That makes more sense. It's hard to believe that everyone's score wouldn't change based on an individual(s) protest. By that logic if 30K people had a question wrong and wanted to protest, you wouldn't expect 30K people to show up to a session over the same question. Let's just wait for the final list which will probably be a while from now anyway. I didn't score all that great myself but I have my fingers crossed. And based on the poll I think we're underestimating how many people got more than 7 wrong.
  19. You're not alone. I too took the 4/9 AM test and answered 31: B. It was actually my first wrong answer out of 6. I think 31 should be one of those questions overturned. I'm so disappointed in myself with my score but let's see what happens. I'll probably file for the next T/O exam as well.
  20. Congrats to everyone with high scores. I got 92.50% so yeah, there goes that.
  21. Agreed. I myself thought about becoming a cop at one point in time, but having bad experiences and dealing with the harassment on the other end, put me away. It's also a very stressful environment where you're basically putting your life on the line everyday. Like RedViper said, you'd have to want to be a cop. It's a great career move for someone who's out of the military though.
  22. Thanks guys. I think encouragement is what we all need from time to time. And who knows, maybe later down the road, and if things hopefully go as planned, we can meet each other on the other side and laugh about this time. I've always had jobs that I really didn't care about, but I know I want to be in the MTA. My only regret is not having taken the test sooner. I still keep in touch with my boy inside and he's telling me that the older folks are retiring left and right, and now with the expansion on the east side line, I'm pretty sure they're going to need people. I'll probably post again on this thread once they release the test results and we get our scores, perhaps then it gives us a better idea of where we're at with all this.
  23. Guys I wouldn't stress that much. Like many of you, I too am anxious for the test results. With that being said, rather than watching the time pass obsessing on when they start calling people or even if I'll ever get called, understand that it's a lengthy process. I have a friend who's currently a T/O for the MTA. He took the last conductor test in '08 and don't actually get called instill he started in 2012. Keep in mind he started as conductor and I believe he moved up to T/O at the end of 2014. From my past experience, I took the TSA test right after 9/11 when they were revamping the whole Dept. keep in mind that those who had worked for years under the TSA had to retake the tests themselves and believe it or not, many of them failed. I eventually got called up about 8 months after I took it in 2002, but then again that's the TSA and I was living in FL at the time. The point I'm trying to make is to be confident and patient. Understand that it's going to be a lengthy process and by any means don't let this test overtake your life. I personally intend to stay in my POS job until this thing comes through hopefully. I've been working corporate most of my life and to be honest I'm sick of working on an office. I have a family and am a bit older now so I'm thinking long term. So the MTA or any city job for that matter, although it'll suck and I won't have a life for the first few years, at least it's something that's secure for all of us and we can retire from it.
  24. Everyone has been giving the same feedback as me. And yes, while the test may seem easy, some questions were tricky. Reminded me of that show brain games. I just hope we get called eventually. Many people took this test and it appears that the test dates were random, meaning that it didn't matter when you registered for it, so test dates aren't in no particular order. To all the others who have yet to take the test, good luck guys.
  25. It'll be done once you get to your assigned seats and the test information is given out. For others asking, 80 questions, 3 hours, you can leave once you're finished.
