Was having a brief chat with a Co worker on paper the B57 is staying at Grand. The B47 & B60 go to FP while the Q58/98 go to CS really sucks for FP.

Woah 58/98 is a lot more work than 47 and 60. CS definitely has to give up something to take on the 58/98, I’ve looked in the storage yard during rush hours and its completely empty besides a couple artics.

  2. If you live deep on Long Island, it’s going to be a long commute back and forth combined with the unpredictable schedules and may even negatively impact your relationship. I suggest a long hard conversation with your wife first before accepting the position.

With that being said, it’s 5 days a week but it depends on when you get called. Say you have a list job thurs-mon with tues wed off, you can theoretically be called to report 2359 on Monday and end at 1159 hrs Tues and it’ll eat into your rest day pretty much. You can choose to work your relief days as well if you want to grind but consider it blood money at some point.

Can confirm, my class just finished up orientation today, doing NESO tomorrow, first official day of instruction on Friday.

Good luck. Phase 1 (Book of Rules) isn’t hard as long as you study which you already proved that you can.

I know seeing the R68 and R68A mixed out of Coney Island is common. However, this is from my oberservations this week. I've seen 3 trains on the (B) that are mixed.

    - 2890-2888 with 5012-5010

    - 2862-2860 with 5014-5016

    - 2792-2794 with 5170-5172

they were using one of these (I believe it's the first one) for schoolcar last wk haha.

There's already an order in place for new Prevosts to do just that. Bringing the 2400s would not be necessary.

This would be the last Prevost order before the NY plant is shut down? A shame that it's more Prevosts because I like the ride quality in MCI's a tiny bit better.

How many buses are on order if you have that info?

According to the MTA's NYCT Sole Source Procurements, they will procure 92 MCI D45CRTs, alongside with 5 D45CRTe coaches. This will be their first new MCI order since 2013, and are for NYCT Bus. This will replace all of the 2011 Prevosts at Ulmer Park and Meredith.

Would it be possible that these Prevosts replace the worst 2005-07 MCIs at MTA Bus? I would imagine the MCIs have more mileage and are in worse condition than Ulmer’s Prevosts but I could be wrong.

I’m genuinely curious how we’re gonna do Penn Access. Are we going to share tracks 13-21 with LIRR? That also means we have to be NORAC qualified.

I’m guessing we’ll have trains in and out (on Stamford locals or a New Rochelle shuttle similar to Jamaica to Atlantic term with direct service during rush hours) and prob only a couple stored in West Side Yard. Prob gna split the off-peak half hourly service into one to Penn and one to GC. Heard they’re building the MNR crew facilities inside Penn currently. New rochelle might be made into a crew base too, they also want to expand New Rochelle yard. Yep we’ll probably have to be qualified on Zone A but it won’t be that bad. Not an insane amount of signals to memorize.

Recently took in April and passed the initial test phase.
i applied for job posting 3742 but now when i check the status it changed to posting 6965.
either way does anyone know how long it takes to get called for an interview.

    thanks.

Depends when they start the new class. It took me about a week to get called but they were trying to rush me in the next class. I think june or july is the next one. Also, it depends on scheduling because they usually have a road foreman and training officer there to interview you.

I just saw this video. Sounds Interesting.

Uhhh this is some sorta fantasy right. They pretty much introduced through-running as a new idea but we don’t have the hubs built up for this nor are the logistics even close to being worked out to do it. They say Penn won’t be overloaded but where do all the trains have to go through anyways…Penn lol. 😝

Anyone know the status of 3082 & 3186 from Yonkers and 3280 from CP?

Calvin said 3186 was used as a parts bus and subsequently sent to Eastchester scrap. 3082 last I heard was in for long-term maintenance. 3280 I have no idea. 3310 is one that has been missing awhile as well.

Ran out of 2's and it was cheaper to turn a 5 backwards LOL...probably put in for overtime to do that

Funny you say that. Another person commented on a similar video and said the decal guy had showed up to fix the decals only to find out that the Chargers were already shipped out. haha

I use the LIRR at least once a week, however some weeks I use it more times and today is the first time in a few months (3-4 months) since I caught a M9.  These trains are a nice little upgrade from the M7’s but it’s like they don’t exist at times.
My biggest complaint with the M7’s are those nasty windows that you can’t see out of.

I believe the M9’s have the same windows lol. They’ll crystallize, fade or haze eventually.

Even though this thread is dead, it's no surprise to learn most of the missed runs have been caused by insufficient operators.  And a minority of issues caused by bus maintenance issues: https://www.thecity.nyc/2024/05/16/express-bus-canceled-mta-drivers/

This week, I saw back to back QM2/QM20 PM trips cancelled leading to a huge gap in service in the middle of the PM rush.  Crap like that is not what we need leading up to congestion pricing kicking in and you're left waiting 30+ mins for another bus during rush hour.

Yep, saw this coming from a mile away because I would get a driver who is supposed to finish his run around early afternoon but he tells me he has to go back to Manhattan for another trip and he was practically getting begged by management to take as many trips as he can.

2200 is repainted in the old MTA scheme. The scheme for these buses is a combination of the "original look" pre 2010 as well as a bit of inspiration from the Ex-Bee line buses when first brought in. If you haven't seen the NJT buses in the MTA scheme yet, it'll definitely kick in the nostalgia feeling.

Any pictures if you don’t mind sharing?

Most likely coincidence as there are 4 of them out right now. Most of the time, drivers pick whatever's ready to go out first.

That or the yard dispatcher changed shifts and this one is more lax.
