Surprised nobody posted this yet, but the LIRR M3's are back in service since that tropical storm we had caused a lot of flat wheels on the M7 & M9 fleets.

I don't think the entire remaining M3 fleet was reactivated, just a small amount of cars.

Will those M7s and M9s ever come back? Can they fix those flat wheels?

So I will be attending college in New Jersey and I plan on taking the bus there (the 10 or 119 or 80 or the Montgomery West Side buses along West Side Avenue). I need to know how fares work in NJ (other than the base $1.60 fare) and how to use it. The only one I know of is using a bus pass for Zone 1 along West Side Avenue for those Montgomery & Westside IBOA buses and the 80). Can anybody teach me how zones and fares work in NJ please?

    Just take the train

Heard something somewhere about weekend service being operated on the subway system at all times due to you-know-what. Not sure if they are or aren't, haven't bothered to check. They should probably just operate late night service

What’s a free program I can use to edit a subway map? I want to make a “fantasy” map (parentheses on fantasy because I’m not making one of those ridiculous maps with lines spanning almost a hundred stops, just some ideas on deinterlining, changing some service patterns, a few modest extensions and one new trunk line).

I used MS Paint to varied successes when I used a windows computer, but now I have a mac, so MS paint is no longer an option. Thanks!

    GIMP or Photoshop

  5. I remember asking my father a few years ago about why the (A) train has low-tech trains and why the (Q) train had high-tech trains and my father said that my guess is that the (A) train travels longer distances so they don't want to test new technologies on longer distance trains and that shorter distance trains are better to test new technologies on.

Right, because that frivolous reason is more important than passenger safety.... You of all people should know how pitch black suburban areas get at night, Mr. Reads lane......

But I want to know what the closest train station is for Stargazing.
