That video description said "I enjoyed this bus as this was only my second time riding the X3-45 (and first time with Greyhound, I previously rode an MTA NYCTA unit back in Summer 2017 (#2656)".

I think based on the description the person is saying the last time they road a Prevost in general was an MTA Prevost.

I just realized that. My bad.

  2. Meanwhile there are people (usually high school aged kids) all over TikTok posting videos of themselves riding on the back of the train and breaking into the cabs and playing with the controls while the train in is motion. Yet I haven’t seen anything about NYPD doing a crackdown on this.

I’m not sure if the posted speed was 5 or 10 mph but it definitely wasn’t higher. I’m sure they never considered reconstructing the trackage entering that area because the walls are original concrete pillars that were built long before today’s trackage between Seventh Avenue and Prospect Park were built. My take. Carry on.

IIRC that SB track is one of the sharpest curves in the B division and was also the site of the Malbone Street wreck, the deadliest accident in NYC transit history. Not sure if the 6 mph speed limit still stands though.

Random thought; why doesn't the Franklin (S) use both outer tracks based on the direction of the rush? For example, use the uptown platform during the AM rush and the downtown platform during the PM rush.

Probably because it’s much simpler and more understandable for Passengers if the (S) stops in one location. People don’t wanna miss their train because they were on the wrong platform for that time period.

The Cuomo wraps are starting to fade away more you look into. Noticed today on the (R) : 9203-9207, 9205 has it disappeared on the outside on one of the sides. However, all 4 out  of 5 cars still have it in tact.

I was literally just in that set like 30 minutes ago didn’t even notice, I was just glad that the (R) train came in a minute after getting off the s53 instead of the normal 12-20+ minutes I have to wait after getting off the S53/79/93 lol.

the Local tracks on both sides the signals have been removed. The Express Tracks between Roosevelt and 36th st have been removed. There's only signals at certain locations along the line.

A lot of you need to get over the fact that CI isn't going to have anything new for awhile. Yes While it does suck, It's not that big of a deal. If (A)(C) riders had to deal with R32's,38's,40's,42's,44's and R46's over a 30 year time span, People in Astoria,Broadway and south Brooklyn can deal with old shit for no less than a decade. You guys are starting to feel very entitled and it shows.

Don’t forget us folks in Staten Island where we have had the same fleet for 50 years with multiple failed attempts to bring newer fleet into the system (r46 and r179).

    Part Suspended

(1)trains are suspended in both directions between 145 St and Van Cortlandt Park-242 St.

NYPD is responding for an unauthorized person on the tracks near 181 St.

Consider taking the (A) train or M5, M100 and Bx3 bus or see buses near you at bustime.mta.info.

See a station agent for a free courtesy pass to continue your trip.

And all of those buses don’t run overnight or are just completing their final trips.

EDIT: Hmm… interesting. They automatically made this Kings Highway-bound (F) Coney Island-bound and made the train behind us run express from Jay Street to Kings Highway.

To be honest the <F> trains should run express to Kings Highway or Neptune Ave. Idk why they didn't do that in the first place.

  9. Will the (MTA) ever convert the seating on the ex-q70 xd40 buses back to the regular seating instead of the luggage racks? Rode one of those on the q39 today and it seems like it just takes up space since no one is using those luggage racks.

my only other idea would be too keep these buses on the q47 and q72 but that’s about it.

  10. Northbound (E) trains are running on the (F) line from W 4 St-Wash Sq to 47th-50th St while NYPD responds to a person being disruptive at 7 Av.

    Northbound(E) trains will arrive on the lower-level (F) platform at W 4 St-Wash Sq.

Expect delays in (F) service while they share the track with rerouted trains.

Also not mentioned: An (E) train is going to 155 street via the (C) line.

  11. Just saw today's Subwaydle and I just laughed. "Travel from 14 St–Union Sq to Flatbush Av–Brooklyn College". I'm not doing 2 transfers i'm just taking the (5) straight there.

I also find it funny how it says "Aww, looks like you got lost on the subway..." when you don't get it right because you didn't choose the most out of the way route there is.

Makes me wonder, especially with the timing of the order with the original bus redesign plans, if they we're expecting to downsize the fleet.

IIRC the ultimate plan was to cut express bus service by as much as 50% (or more) in some places but that idea backfired.

You mean the QM2/3/20/32? Those head to points north (Flushing/Bayside area), whereas the routes that take Van Dam Street to the LIE are heading to points further south (and honestly, there's a lot of times where Van Dam Street has more traffic than the LIE itself).

Yes, however I was mainly talking about the Qm 1, 4, 5, 6, 31, 35, 36, 44, x63, x64 and x68 buses vs the rest of the qm routes that go towards rego park and beyond. Although they all are on queens blvd by woodhaven outbound  Qm 1, 4, 5, 6, 31, 35, 36, 44, x63, x64 and x68 buses will go via the expressway while others go via queens blvd.

  14. Just a question about some of the QM express bus routes.

When the Queens-Bound 6th and 3rd ave QM bus routes get off the bridge, why do some routes take Queens Blvd and Northern Blvd instead of the LIE like they do inbound? You could state that there is more traffic on the LIE however why do some other routes take the LIE outbound as well?

Coney Island-bound R46 (N) come in, immediately turns around as a (Q) via Sea Beach with the (N) signs intact. Is there even a good reason why the announcements should mention that the train “is a (Q) operating over the (N) line?” It serves nobody except those getting on at Times Square–42 Street and 57 Street–7 Avenue or off at 5 Avenue and beyond.

Iirc northbound (N) trains to 96th street are signed up as (Q) in order to ease confusion along the Broadway line. IMO it makes no sense since there are a lot not (N) stops compared to (Q) stops and other routes that go to alternate terminals don’t do this. i.e. you don’t see New Lots Ave bound (2) trains signed up as (3) trains or 179th street bound (E) trains signed up as (F) trains.

The MTA should just print new schedules showing the true service frequencies. It’s frustrating that the published schedule is so different from what truly runs.

    example:

the (L) now runs every 10 minutes all day, also does the (F). The (M) and (R) are now every 12 minutes all day. Trains are now super overcrowded not just because ridership is back to 50%+ of what it was in 2019, but because the trains only come half as often during rush hours.

and if this change is going to be for a long while it could be an opportunity to put some R46s out to pasture (even if it is into long term storage until ridership and the crews are up for running regular service again).

Example: some of The (L)‘s additional R143s/R160s apart from spares could be moved to the (J) along with some from the (M). This could temporarily move the R179s to the (C) and give some R46s a break. Same for the (F) and it’s R160s temporarily moving to the (N) to put some it’s R46s down and the (Q) could be 50/50 with R68/R46, while the (N) is 50/50 with R46/R160.

You do realized those changes are not permanent and they're supplement schedules until further notice due to the crew shortage.

I do agree with the fact the new schedules don’t have to be made but they should mention the temporary headways on MTA.info. i.e. (L) trains will run every 8-10 minutes off peak instead of every 4-5 minutes. We are running as much service with the crews we have available. The (SIR) Does do this during peak hours with the 20 minute headways.
